Ja also das ist die Vergangenheitsform (oder sowieso eine der Vergangenheistformen) in Japanisch, ich glaube dass Verben, die mit der Endung -su... uh enden, haben eine Konsonantenveraenderung in -shi- plus die Vergangenheitssuffix (oder wie der richtige Begriff heisst) -ta.

Well really really only English and German, and even that German I had to edit because I made a bunch of boneheaded mistakes. I can translate Latin and Old English, but I can't sightread them... most of the time. I mean, there was a Latin blurb I saw a few months ago on Amazon about some book, either Marcus Aurelius or Lucretius idr, which I was able to completely sightread, but that was unnaturally simple Latin. Right now on and off I've been trying to study Marshallese, Greek and kind of Old Norse. If you know Latin, that's a gateway to Greek. If you know, Old English (or Old High German, which I also took in college) that's a gateway to Old Norse.

 

Nah, no worries. I'm the one who's been neglecting to show up here much. Hoping to fix that. And I'm fine! Same to you!

Yeah, I need to go back to school and just go into teaching. In undergrad my concentration was history and foreign language education, but I got out of that.

You guys might be interested to know there's a book on the Osage language from the University of Oklahoma Press coming out and I'm thinking of getting it. That's the actual indigenous language to where I live, but the last native speaker died 20 years, but there's a revival effort ongoing.

Yes, but not German. It's a dying specialty in the US. My high school dropped it as a subject when my old teacher retired a few years ago. But outside of Arkansas there would be a lot more German teaching jobs.
