I’m completely shocked to hear this. He likes the stories and characters that he is invested in??? What a hack!!

Well i think Filoni is more attached to his characters than even Lucas himself was to his characters. I think Lucas cared about Star Wars, but i don't think he was ever restricted by it.

While Filoni, the chances of him moving to something new feels a little uncertain. Not sure there is enough evidence to suggest he wants too.

Filoni isn't the kind of person who would develop a whole new era to explore of Star Wars. Everything he does is set between the movies

This is just such a bizarre statement to me. I can't even imagine what the Ahsoka detachment procedure was like. Possibly Resistance was a side effect of trying to get Filoni to abandon attachment, as is the Jedi way. I digress.

I'd take The Animated of Ventress, over any number of possible ideas.

I think if Filoni had a choice between Ventress or OT crew. He would probably go with with Ventress.

Well, Filoni will no doubt be inserting a deepfake OT crew in his film I'm sure of it.

In that hour-long special interview with Gilroy and the cast, Gilroy was very emotional about no longer producing the show, as it turned out to be his most creatively satisfying project to date. So though he has said he won’t be back, I have a strong feeling that he’ll be back.

If Gilroy comes back to the GFFA (and I hope he does) I think it will more likely be for a film rather than a show.

Not so sure about that. He seems to have really enjoyed the show format, and the strengths of long-form storytelling.

Hey, I'm not in anyway against Mr. Gilroy coming back to do another show ;)

I would watch that in a heartbeat. Plus, they'd save money not having to use CGI or paying flesh and blood actors.

I want to see some variation of the cancelled underworld series.

Normally I prefer focusing on another era, and I sure don’t want a new show focused on more clones.

But say a pre-Rebels Crimson Dawn series? And also a focus on other criminal organizations, maybe even a Jedi in hiding. Letting Maul get the spotlight again. There is still a story to be told about him, how he lost his power in the Underworld and ended up stranded on Malachor.

It's a very fair criticism that has been elaborated on in detail so many times. Attachment, as we know from Star Wars itself, is not a good thing. And Filoni is very attached, which has long become detrimental to the storytelling and very damaging to the characters affected by his decisions. The man is completely incapable of letting go. He is incapable, it seems, of finishing stories and letting the characters rest. The latest egregious example being Ventress, who had a meaningful, finished character arc, and then has been brought back for no reason other than empty fan service.

Books vs tv canon Ventress were never going to die in a book. Outside of Ahsoka, Filoni's not been been too attached

It is a fair criticism that Filoni is largely just interested in the characters he created in his animated shows. He has turned Ashoka into a character that integral not only to the prequel era, but now the original trilogy era and the post original trilogy era. He turned his live action project into basically Rebels season 5.

It's not uncommon for creators to become overly attached to characters they created. But when you are telling stories in a sandbox as sprawling as Star Wars is supposed to be being overly attached to a small group of characters and giving them more development than they probably need is a criticism worth pointing out.

It all depends on what he does with the character. I don't want to see another BoBF, where I'm still not sure why he returned to the GFFA, other than as a vehicle for Mando. There is simply so much to Ventress, so many places her story could go. I could easily see her doing black ops for the Rebellion.

Turned it into? This suggests that it was ever anything else.
Rebels ended with a clear sequel hook, Ahsoka's appearance in The Mandalorian directly referenced that, and now Filoni is making that sequel. Why shouldn't he?

This is pretty much all nonsense anyway. Filoni is too attached to his characters, except for the ones he isn't. He doesn't create new characters, except the new ones.
He has Ahsoka appear in every show, except the ones where she doesn't.

I wouldn't really say that Rebels ended in a situation where it was setting a sequel up. The main purpose of the show was to show us in animated form how the Rebel Alliance formed. The show did that. Ezra disappearing wasn't really put in the show to set up a sequel. It was in there to explain why a character like Ezra wasn't seen or mentioned during the OT.

I'd say if they wanted to tell us where Ezra and Thrawn went they should have officially just done Rebels season 5. Turning a live action Ahsoka series into a Rebels season 5 seemed pretty forced as many people watching probably never even watched Rebels. Makes me kind of think it wasn't Filoni's choice to end the show after season 4.
