IDK. Rey’s mum was onscreen for about two seconds, and it also wouldn’t be the first time they’ve reused actors in live action Star Wars, admittedly for background characters but still… I don’t think casting Jodie Comer is out of the realm of possibility.

 

I have no memory of Rey’s mother.

 

She only has two scenes in the movie. If they made this new character look different enough even without CGI I don’t think it would be much of an issue. Or the character could be CGI or she could be playing an alien that requires makeup. Or maybe Levy’s film is gonna feature Rey’s mom. Lots of ways this could play out. That’s if the report isn’t total BS.

I have to say I've never been fully won over by Plemons, but there's no denying his stature has risen over the last 10 years. If I'm not mistaken, I think he was up for the role of Finn back when TFA was casting.

He certainly knows how to play a villain though. His single scene performance in last year's Civil War is one of the most terrifyingly banal portrayals in recent memory.

 

It was a movie with the real actors, i just thought its funny in one movie he is chasing after her daughter and one movie he taking advantage of the other characters mom

 

Turns out, Comer was in Free Guy (directed by Shawn Levy). so that could mean it’s more likely she will be cast in this movie too..

 

Or it just makes it an easy guess for the “leaker”.

they brought back Kirk’s body in trek and basically teased that Kirk could come back and trek isn’t nearly as reliant on Kirk as Star Wars is on their original characters

I think Shawn Levy is the consummate journeyman director, whose output is as good as the script he's handed and the budget he's given. I'm saying this as someone who enjoyed Free Guy and The Adam Project for what they are and within the scale they were produced at, but outright loathed Deadpool & Wolverine. So I'm not worried about this film as of right now, but I do think its quality is going to rely heavily on the pieces Levy is given and the efforts of the people around him. Like, stunning visuals are going to be the product of ILM or whoever the cinematographer is more so than Levy's directing, for instance.

 

If you go to Levys Wikipedia it has listet a ton of unreleased projects from him. Maybe not that unusual in Hollywood, but still, i was a bit surprised of the scale / volum of these.

Like Rian Johnson. And Benioff and Weiss - he made a very rich deal with Netflix. That made him - very rich i guess. And they really throw huge money on big budget mediocre feature films. I have seen very few of Levys movies and that worries me a bit. I am obviously now interested in what he brings to the table, because of Star Wars. He directed some episodes of Stranger Things as well. I think they were decent. He was scheduled to direct Avengers 5 ( Doomsday), but reports said he turned it down for working on Star Wars. I put him in the same bracket as JJ. Probably grew up adoring Star Wars, wants to prove he is a real filmmaker, but does not really put his own stamp on things and struggling for achiving a level that is not even close to those that made the movies he obsessed with in his childhood.

I am willing to give him a chance though. If his Star Wars movie is great, i still dont think i will search up his earlier films.
