Darth Rottenous and Horribilus will have to wait their moment of glory.

Low hanging fruit aside, and leaving the names for the mo - the Supreme Leader angle is the most interesting thing. Is it a personality cult as some have suggested? That's very interesting is so. How would Kylo Ren play into that plan? What even is his plan? How has SNoke convinced people he is the divine (for want of a better word) leader? I mean, Palptaine didn't seem interested in any of that. He has some goal and was using the galaxy to get whatever that was.

I miss thinking that Luke was guarding the tomb of Darth Plagueis. ...And that Serkis was going to play that character.

    [face_plain]

I do not like the name "Snoke". Not for a new Emperor / Sith Master - type of character. Not at all.

    .

Are we all in agreement that this character is likely standing in the distance at the center of the stage in this image...?

I guess one of the cool things besides being called Supreme Leader Snoke is what is he going to look like?

Andy Serkis is mo-capped, so what do they have cooked up? And will we see him in the first trailer at D23?

And if the evil commander was a sexy female gone Sith she would be Darth Salacious.

Snoke and Kylo both don't have Darth names. More than Likely won't be Darth Snoke or Darth Ren. Both characters will have different names.

Supreme Leader does sound like the head man of a populist front. Maybe Snoke and his Order are sweeping away the elitism of the Jedi and Sith Orders and bringing the (Darkside of ) Force to the masses?

What did SWU say? He looked like some ancient zombified creature or something? Is he just ancient? Or an alien? Maybe an ancient alien? I like the alien angle - it feels a step away from Palpatine. Are the Sith still a race? I can't remember. Could he be an actual pure Sith? Or an ancient race who really know how to command the force? Can he even use the Force?

There's really no reason for Snoke or Ren's "Darth" titles to be a secret. For even casual fans, "Darth" is shorthand for Evil Sith, which creates excitement and is clearcut and attention getting. Withholding the "Darth"ness so to speak has no benefits when they are clearly presented as villains regardless, so the only logical answer for why Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke were not announced with Darth titles is because THEY ARE NOT DARTHS.

I wonder if that still stands and if the mo-cap is because he's so ancient, or if he is actually an alien.

Can we all at least agree that Snoke is a better name than Count Dooku?

I'm not in the camp where I think they HAVE to be Sith, but he above point isn't true. If they were Sith, that could well be a major plot development/twist - after all, we all officially know the Sith to have been wiped out, so both in universe and behind the scenes it might make sense to hold off on the reveal of Darth names - it's hardly as if the publicity for this film isn't really taking off.

Maybe Serkis's character is obsessed with Dooku just like Kylo is with Vader. Maybe his Sith name is Darth Snokey Dookey

    Snoke want smush smush.....

    Sorry, don't agree...

The title also will need some getting used too... Supreme Leader? Seems like they aren't quite sure what his title was suppose to be, so lets make him a leader or something...

Looking forward to the actual big reveal of who/what he is though!

Maybe this is going to show us a different aspect of the Sith or the Dark Side. Maybe there's no more Darth honorifics or rule of two

While I agree that Dooku and Snoke are on a par, I disagree that Supreme Leader suggests vagueness. It's actually a fairly specific connotation - that of a cult of personality - an Adolf Hitler, or a Kim Jong-Un.

    I can go with that.

And the First Order is a cult. A massive, galaxy-spanning one, perhaps, but still a cult.

And Supreme Leader Snoke is the... supreme leader of the First Order cult. And Kylo Ren, with his homemade (or ancient, maybe) lightsaber is one of the top lieutenants. And Kylo Ren is like really into it; having burned out Vader helmets and the like.

'Supreme Leader' certainly evokes a theocratic ruler just as it is in Iran. The highest ranking political and religious authority. Although Snoke is not as biting as, say, Tarkin. It smooth, not hard.
