They just need some more swing states to join in order to get the majority.
Looks more promising than any other initiative seen so far.

Its a defense mechanism. Like me with women. When I meet a girl and am interested in her, I automatically believe nothing is going to come off it. It'll be a disaster, or she won't even give me the time of day. She won't like me because of the way I look or because I'm not rich, or most likely both. That way, if it goes that way, it hurts less. It always hurts more when you don't expect it. If something good happens (it wont) then its a great feeling.

Also, I think he's trolling/joking a lot of the time. Why? Because its the internet, and we're here just ****ing around. I'm not saying he doesn't believe what he says, I just think he exaggerates a bit for dramatic effect. The internet allows you to play into characters you would not play into in real life.

But no, really, I'm gonna die alone. Happy 2019!

    Wow.

Trump's Cabinet meeting - which seemed to be half "acting" Secretaries- was insane. Dr. Strangelove level insane.
Bringing back that stupid, tone-deaf Game of Thrones poster to place prominently in front of Trump paled in comparison to his daydreaming over how US generals he met were stronger and more handsome than Tom Cruise. And the guy who had daddy bribe a doctor to get him out of medical service thinks he might have made a good general. Sure, why not? And he was so lonely over Xmas, pretending to sign blank documents into law, but the machine gunners on the White House lawn wouldn't even wave!
There's so much more. You have to see just how much of a ****ing lunatic he was.

I listened to part of it. It really dumbs you down. The man has no idea what he's saying. He's vamping. He talks like a simpleton. And of course, the simpletons listen and believe.

You heard it first from your esteemed leader Pubs. Reagan didn't break the Soviet Union's back with his arms race.

It was the Afghans man ... the Afghans.

The Soviet Union and it's allies in them middle east were promoting secularism and Marxism while the West was finding jihadis and Islamic fundamentalism.

I wish the USSR were successful instead.

Remember when James Bond, guardian of neoliberalism and western culture, teamed up with Al-Quaeda to fight the reds? Good times. Simpler times.

I think that was Rambo III? I'm pretty sure it takes place in Afghanistan but I haven't seen it.

The Mujaheddin in The Living Daylights don't have much in common with Al Qaeda or the Taliban:

    https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/TheLivingDaylights

    • Common Knowledge: It is common for a post-9/11 world to see Bond teaming up with the Mujahideen as a "Funny Aneurysm" Moment in part because of the belief that the Mujahideen became the Taliban and, thus, the enemies of the West in the War on Terror. This is incorrect though, because the Taliban were in fact a radical student movement (the name even comes from the Arabic "talib" which means "student") that took over Afghanistan after the Soviets were kicked out and also after the Mujahideen began fighting amongst themselves for control of the country. In other words, the Taliban and the Mujahideen are in fact enemies, and Kamran Shah in particular — being an Oxford-educated freedom fighter who casually teams up with a British spy and a Czech woman — would probably be marked for death as soon as they took power; if anything, the real "Funny Aneurysm" Moment is that the character of Kamran Shah was most likely murdered off-screen at some point after the movie.

lel going tvtropes for your history

They had a lot in common and they were allies against the Soviet Union and both were types of Islamic fundamentalists. Also, lol, being "oxford educated" doesn't mean anything. Plenty of terrorists and Middle-Eastern dictators are Western educated.

If Trump thinks the Afghan War bankrupted the USSR, as he claims, then whyever would he endorse it, portraying the Soviets as doing the right thing by bankrupting themselves?

And does this mean Trump is likely to do the same sort of thing and try to bankrupt America?

You are putting far more thought into something Trump spoke than Trump has ever put into something he spoke.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Kamran Shah was an Expy of Ahmad Shah Massoud.
