pretty much on 1970s Superfriends level of believablity now. anyone can just appear from the dead. ships can show up with phantom crews. anything go because theyre banking the audience will accept anything. including making Rey godlike. Or even Luke and Leia keeling over in their early 50s even though they come from a super strong bloodline.{/spoiler]

There is certainly some stupid stuff in there, but there's a lot of good too IMO and my general opinion watching the ST recently is that they are enjoyable enough with what they are Yeah, in the context of the whole saga it might kind of suck, but its fun for what it is, at least to me

Not a fan. Especially “The great error is corrected.” I beg your pardon? What error?!Choosing Vader as his apprentice? Trying to recruit Luke? Designing his ships with pits to be thrown down? (My conspiracy minded brain so reads it as a TLJ dig but it probably isn’t.)

Not to be a downer, and it’s fine, Ian is always great of course. But you’d think Sheev could come up with something far better. Imo.




Opening up TROS with “The dead speak!” though was excellent imo. Like heck yeah they do! Rivals “War!” as my favorite opening crawl line. Nothing like an exclamatory sentence to wake everyone up; like saying buckle up folks, stuff is happening, right now, pay attention.

 

I wish I was strong enough to just hide from RYL until the anger and disappointment died down but unfortunately for my mental and emotional state I'm not

I didn't like the thing the emperor was hanging from , I might have liked it better if they explained how he survived , perhaps transfer his conscience into a clone of himself

They also should have just made the finale order clones right?...

The red stormtroopers are so they can sell more toys I would assume, remember c3pos left arm?

One of the best scenes in the film was Luke training Leia IMO would love more of that kinda stuff, but some reason in tlj Luke was a hobo and a generation was lost

I don't think tros sucks, I think the problems are with tfa setting everything up and tlj. Tros was like a celebration of a train crash

That crawl was pretty cool imo

 

My personal opinion is that it'll probably be more explained in books and such because people are going to want to know

Also last night I realized that eventually we're going to get a TROS novelization and I freaked out a little bit

 

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d enjoy reading more of your thoughts & what you love in it though Viva! I feel like its been pretty evenly split in here, might just be my perception though. We all have different opinions & are each processing TROS in our own ways, & there’s a LOT to think about, that’s all.

I think that's a good idea, but maybe the poll shouldn't go up until 2 weeks have passed since release. gives more time for those who are doing/will do multiple viewings to reflect and consolidate their thoughts and even those like @darkspine10 to finally see it for the first time

Palps' "broadcast" (as referred to in the crawl; haven't listened to the Fortnite thing yet)

i mean i can't think of any sort of precedent for that in the films themselves...of course we see inter-ship communications and Palps holos to specific people, but i can't remember any kind of moment in the films that would establish what such as "broadcast" would be...like who would get it, and how? etc. i already knew of course Palps was returning, but i was already rolling my eyes from the crawl on that issue...

yes, i loved seeing that brief glimpse of young Luke and Leia training...but overall, it just made me sad for what i feel was lost and squandered in the ST as a whole...

 

Maybe if my head stops hurting I'll write you guys a probably jumbled emotional opinion on TROS when I get home in a little bit

That both thrills me cause a) possible Finn force sensitivity confirmation and b) Reylo of course. Palpy being Palpy too; I wanna reread Darth Plageius now.

And c) I selfishly really hope that they don’t over explain Ben’s death. I want it as vague as can be so I can keep on thinking there might be a way to bring him back.
