New 6" Black Series Coming From Hasbro

I need to figure out my budget, but I think I have a solid idea of what I'm pre-ordering from Entertainment Earth at this time. I usually don't go with them or Dork Side because shipping is an issue. But I can't snap up pre-orders from major retailers like Amazon, Target or Wal-mart fast enough because I do have better things to do when they go live.

 

I don’t buy many Archive Collection figures, but I just had to grab the new Palpatine one. Face sculpt and robes look great.

I’m glad there’s a way to get rare figures I missed out on from the first release. Cody and Bossk are two of my favourite Black Series, so without the Archive Collection I would’ve completely missed out.

 

I have the Emperor Throne deluxe, how does the Archive compare?

 

Yeah, if it wasn’t for the Archive Collection, I wouldn’t have gotten an IG-88. I like the fact that collectors can get the figures they missed out on while those who bought them at release still have different packaging.

I’ve been thinking about grabbing Palpatine as well. Sounds like it’s worth while.

 

On Target app I noticed they are coming out with 11 Black Series figures next Monday July 11th! Since my wife and I recently received retention bonuses through our work, she has agreed that I can purchase up to $100 worth that day.

Here are the list of figures.
Wandering Jedi Obiwan (Obiwan).
Darth Vader (Obiwan).
Grand Inquisitor (Obiwan).
Fifth Brother (Obiwan).
Boushh Leia (Archive).
Grand Moff Tarkin (Archive ).
TFA Han Solo (Archive).
Chewbacca (Archive).
Darth Maul (Clone Wars).
Aayla Secura (AOTC).
Magistrate Greef Karga (Mandalorian).

Since Vader looks similar to the black and red box version, and I have that along with black and blue box and Carbonized versions, I'm not really interested in that.

Also have black and red box Han and Tarkin, and black and blue box Chewie (and a really sweet Diecast Elite Chewie with Porgs).

I would say the ones I am most interested in getting are Obiwan, Maul, Aayla, and maybe one of the Inquisitors. I have had the original Boushh Leia on my Amazon wishlist for at least 2 years now and the lowest price for that is $93! This is not a high priority figure for me but was curious if I should get an Achive one if I have the chance for the much cheaper price?

Not made any final decisions yet, but was curious if anyone else were seeking these figures next week too, or anyone had recommendations to which figures I should make a priority?

 

I would like to get Maul and Aayla Secura

 

I’m running out of room for all of my Black Series figures, but I’ll probably end up getting several of these. I pre-ordered Obi-Wan (Wandering Jedi) as soon as they announced it, and I’ll definitely be picking up the Vader to go with him, even if it’s essentially a repack. I thought about cancelling my Obi-Wan pre-order after seeing how many other iterations of him from the same show they ended up releasing, but then I realized you can never have TOO many Obi-Wan figures!

I wasn’t sure about the rest, but convinced myself this morning that I’m going to buy Aayla Secura, especially because I’ve always been a sucker for the supporting Jedi characters in the prequels — now this gives me an excuse to get Kit Fisto and Plo Koon, too, and hopefully they add Shaak Ti, Luminara Unduli and Ki-Adi Mundi to the line eventually. I’ll likely end up buying Boushh Leia, too. The figure looks awesome and, much like Obi-Wan, you can never have enough Leia figures in your collection.

The figure I’m on the fence about is Chewie. I absolutely love the character, but I want to see how he compares to the version I currently have, which is from The Force Awakens, and I feel like it’s a little too orange. If they really nail the color on the Archive release, I’ll buy it. They did a fantastic job with the Bespin escape Chewbacca figure a couple of years ago, and if this Archive figure is anything like that, it’ll be a no-brainer for me.

 

I'm definitely picking up Maul and Aayla Secura. Grand Inquisitor is very tempting, but I don't think I can justify buying the other inquisitors as well.

 

I pre-ordered Aayla Secura long ago. I have original Tarkin so not interested. Also not interested in anyone else thus far.

 

Well unfortunately I just noticed my Taget app now says this wave this not coming until October 24 . I also looked elsewhere and all of them say not coming until January to Spring 2023.

So I was at Target this morning and while they did not have any of the wave I mentioned of the other day, they had quite a few from which I assume a previously released wave, which included Ahsoka from Mandalorian, Echo from Bad Batch, and Client from Mandalorian.

I picked up Ahsoka and Echo are they are awesome!

 

I want Ahsoka, how does she look? and does she have lightsabers for her belt and for her to hold?

 

The Mandalorian figure? She's fantastic. Great sculpt and articulation.

You can pop the blades out of the hilts of her lightsabers and hang them on tabs on her waist.

I was just reading The Rise of Kylo Ren. I hope they get around to making a comic cover boxed version of Ren. Fairly easy kit bash IMO if they used the shirtless Maul as a template. Just give him a swappable head and helmet.

The Ahsoka figure from The Mandalorian is hands down one of the absolute best figures in The Black Series line. It’s on par with some of my SH Figuarts figures. Everything from the facial sculpt to the articulation is absolutely fantastic — it’s a must-have figure, in my opinion!

 

I am personally really impressed with brown sculpting around the knee joints. They managed to preserve the look bent or straight. I love that figure so much.

 

I saw pics on Instagram of the new BS box art - no plastic on the outside - boxes look like the old Kmart (and new Vintage collection larger figures.)

 

Really disappointing. However they’ve decided to keep the plastic on the vintage collection because the collectors spoke up. So hopefully we can make them go back on the black series too. For a company who claims to care so much about the fans and collectors, they really make it harder each day for me to believe that.

 

Oh god look at the black series reveals today lol. That full priced Grogu is literally the biggest scam in Hasbro history for multiple reasons.

 

Yea. I want that hover pram, but full price for that is poodoo.

 

Yeah, that wasn’t the best set of reveals. I think they sat around a table and asked themselves, “How can we get away with yet another clone trooper repaint whilst continuing to cash in on Grogu’s popularity?….”

 

I'll probably get that Luke, but i wish they had made his tunic a more traditionally wrapped Jedi under tunic as seen in Book of Boba Fett
