Honestly, heathy guys and knocking off rust are the only two things you should really care about in Spring Training. Yeah, you want to see your guys swinging the bat well and getting outs on the mound. But you mostly just want to avoid injuries and get guys reps.

Speaking of injuries ... we have our first season-ending injury. And because I'm evil, I'm saying no more

Edit: Make it two season-ending injuries.

So the sim doesn't take into account how healthy a player was in his real life season? If a guy pitched 200-300 innings in real life, we can't count on him for that same amount? Or if he had 600-700 plate appearances we can't count on that either. We're going to get shenanigans like falling down stairs and lot?

Injury history definitely plays a part (you're probably not gonna see a lot of injuries with Gehrig and Ripken.)

But it is absolutely not a straight parallel from the year selected or the career they had.

Yeah, injury history definitely plays a part. Guys that were more durable are less likely to get hurt. Guys that put up endurance numbers - innings pitched, at bats, etc. - are going to have higher stamina in the game. They are much less likely to get an injury while playing

But there is also a completely random factor of non-playing injuries. We don't see many of them. Maybe 2-3 per season where something happens away from the game - a car crash, losing a finger to doing lawnmower repair, etc. It happens, but it's not common. And it's very random. And be glad we don't do season-over-season progression where I lost Albert Belle the year after signing him to a big money extension in Cleveland when he decided to retire and run for Congress.

At this point in time, I've updated the various spreadsheets with Spring Training Stats.

As they get posted, I will go ahead and update 26-man rosters. Keep in mind, when you submit your 26-man roster, you are locking in years on your players. Any future year changes - excluding players acquired via trade - will cost you IntyBucks to send them through the DeLorean. If you are going to change a year, call that out explicitly. Do not assume I'll pick up on you putting a new year next to a player's name on a post. I won't.

Let's set a deadline of Midnight Thursday night? Post your 26-man rosters, your lineups, depth charts, and pitching (or the let hte manger decide any/all of that). Keep in mind with pitching, to designate Rotation Mode (Always start highest rested, Strict Order, or Strict order on occasion highest rested) and starters in relief strategy (Yes, no, or only in crucial situations). Also post if you want any strategy changes that have you micromanaging your own manager. Then I can get all the changes in, get us advanced to Opening Day, and we can do a live broadcast?

dick bates allowed one run in spring training, lol.

anyway, this is where higgins scolds magnum for his spring training decisions and tells him what to do.

now magnum, i am quite disappointed in many of your managerial decisions during this year's annual spring training exhibitions. if it wasn't for your professed love for the tigers of detroit, i'd swear that you don't know anything about baseball at all. first of all, why wouldn't you tinker with more starting lineups and more pitchers in the starting role? their arms are cold from a winter of inactivity, they need to slowly work themselves into peak condition. magnum i must say, i do partially blame you for the season-ending loss of charles bender, one of our top armsmen and a perennial pilots keeper for many seasons. and why do you insist on playing cal mcvey in the field? you know he has a bad back and must be restricted to the designator hitter role only. i told you this in our last meeting, but i feel like you weren't even listening. you just kept going on about needing the keys to the ferarri and having to borrow t.c.'s helicopter.

and i know that bad bill dahlen can be intimidating, but did you have to start him over george wright for the entirety of spring training? magnum, did you know that george wright was the babe ruth of the civil war? perhaps more impressively in my eyes, he was also a professional cricketer and was perhaps primarily responsible for bringing the great game of golf to the united states. later in life, he started a chain of very successful sporting goods stores. also, his son is in the tennis hall of fame. anyway the point is we need bad bill to be a utility man. now you've failed to get him any repetitions at second and third base, positions we're going to need him to play if we're going to get collins and davis any rest this season. we can only hope that his excellent skills in the field will allow him to overcome this lack of practice. also, you started paul hines one time. just an overall poor use of the talent on this roster and a failure to explore different options.

from now on the pilots' depth chart shall be as follows:
