And that as a streaming show time should not be a consideration like on a network show.

I'm guessing it was cut for pacing, not time. The revelation of Jod's backstory came at a very tense moment, not a good place for a flashback scene.

Also, hearing the story from Jod lets us continue to doubt whatever he's saying, which is a key part of his character.

I mean how else would you explain how he knows how to use the force? We know usually people aren’t born with the ability to force push. That’s not innate

Better yet if one blatantly contradicts something in another or something he said in the series. I wish they played with perspective more

We live in the age of broom boy. A pirate that knows some parlor tricks using the Force would have been just fine. Anakin was born outside of the Republic and could see things before they happened. Jod could have been born outside of the Republic and learned how to move small objects a short distance. It would have been enough to impress pirates and help him cheat at cards. It would also be the sort of career someone outside of the Republic who had that power might gravitate towards during the age of the Empire.

The quick history lesson was just to explain why he could block some blaster bolts. Not saying he can't pick up a lightsaber and aim it at someone, but they went the dollar sign route and had him be skilled with it.

I think that's definitely what the fans want. I could see them letting Jod drift off into the unknown and introducing a new character, but I'd be really happy if they had to team up with Jod again. A reluctant hero-villain teamup would go extremely hard if executed correctly (and also has potential for humor, because that situation is supremely awkward by nature.)

I honestly don’t know what they do with the kids. This was filmed in 2022-2023. Let’s say they get a green light on season 2 I don’t think it starts filming g until 2026- so unless they go do a time skip. Or they just go the stranger things route and say **** it we ball despite the kids being way older.

If they went this route, they need to completely commit to the bit. Like, all 3 human kids are noticably changed with matured voices but the show pretends absolutely nothing has changed and they are still the same age. But they also age up the design of Neel and deepen his voice, only to also act like he's the exact same age he was in season 1.

Interviews have stated they’ll do a time skip to account for the kids aging. They want to avoid the Stranger Things issue.

I could see Wim learning to become a fighter pilot. As such, could easily fall into an adventure needing his crew. Maybe even needing to find Jod for some reason. There are endless ways, already seen in other shows but made magic by SC fab creators. They could end up being the show Resistance should have been.

If that's how they want to play it, I won't mind and I'll still be watching. Just do whatever it takes to give us more Skeleton Crew adventures.

Better to dot he time skip. Let's the kids go back to school and mature a little before the next adventure.

The question then becomes...Is Jod still the antagonist or is it something else? And if Jod is NOT the antagonist will he be in it in any way...maybe s an ally to the kids because they have a common enemy?

The potential for Jod to have a positive about-face is written into the speech about how the Galaxy is nothing but darkness with only a few insignificant specks of light just before the kids literally part the clouds and fill the sky with countless stars. Their selfless heroism could easily be a believable catalyst for change.

You answered your own question pretty easily, given the huge success of Stranger Things.

Though I see no issue with a time skip. And if they film the new season soon, they’ll still be kids and not yet annoying teenagers.

I have a pretty high tolerance for fictional kids being annoying. I’m actually excited to see these kids be bratty teenagers.

I would say with what they went through they could avoid the bratty and be serious teenagers looking toward the future.

I was saying that I found them great as kids. I’ll likely have less tolerance for them as teenagers. So give us a season 2 before that happens!

True. Nonetheless I do think it’s funny that Jod seems to have roughly the same understanding of the Jedi as the average Star Wars fan, just enough to become confused about the whole no attachments thing. [face_rofl]

Assuming that redemption is on the cards for Jod though, i think it should look quite different from previous Star Wars redemptions.
Neither can I really picture this guy as a traditional stoic Jedi, in the mould of someone like Obi-wan Kenobi or Mace Windu. I think a ‘redeemed’ Jod probably ought to be more of a Robin Hood type figure, maybe with a younger outlaw protege of his own. Heck, he could even swap the pirate crew for a band of merry men.

Honestly I highly doubt that was on Jod’s masters to do list. It more seemed to be like “hey here’s how to levitate **** and do force push go protect yourself oh wait I’m dead

Exactly what I thought watching that scene. Laughed out loud. My wife said “what was funny?” I said “Jude Law is an average Star Wars fan.” [face_laugh]

To be fair, a lot of OT-era fans thought the Jedi Order in the PT was seriously screwed up and extremely fundamentalist, even cultlike. Myself included.
