WCW were also happy to put WWF/E out of business back during the Monday Night Wars, but Vince won. Things are different now though, AEW isn't a threat to WWE and there's a talent share with TNA. WWE itself is now owned by a larger company, but Triple H seems to have pretty much the freedom to do what he wants and he likes different promotions being around because he as a former wrestler knows it's good for the industry. Which has been part of the problem, Cena being allowed free reign to do what he wants and others being controlled. It doesn't let talent try new things to get over like they could in the glory days, but now Vince is gone this is changing. Similar with the Rock seemingly being allowed to use profanity whenever he wanted but nobody else could because the product was PG.
That was a great main event on NXT. Did NOT expect the outcome, but pleasantly surprised. I’m becoming a big fan of Ricky Saints very quickly. He’s got the in ring abilities, the mic skills, the entrance, great personality, knows how to work the audience. Big things ahead for him in the main roster one day.
you should go out of your way to watch his strap match with Bryan Danielson from 2023. Freaking incredible. I agree - he's got the total package to be a star.
So much potential, especially after that match (and that was originally supposed to be Punk in Danielson's spot, but, you know Jungle Boy happened), and it was all left on the table and squandered away. Starks/Saints is the one that's always going to boggle me in terms of unrealized goldmines in AEW.
I'm similarly nominating Train Station Moné Wrath Excellence Gone Choo Choo as an all time great tag team name. AEW Women's division is COOKING right now.
Spoiler They are literally booing Charlotte out of the building. And great debut by Fenix Vault drop:
rey was fantastic charlotte needs to lean into this, she is way too wooden and old school. the game has changed a lot since she was running things. thought tiffany did great, did not sound like she was working from a script. so cruel for kevin owens, needs neck surgery and his return is uncertain. don’t know what that means for orton at mania. miro/rusev has re-signed, i believe, but he’s been on the shelf for so long that i don’t think he can fill in on such short notice. same for aleister black. maybe nick aldis vs randy will actually happen now. aldis hasn’t wrestled in a while either, but seems like he stays in ring shape. this roman/seth, punk/seth, roman/punk/heyman entanglement feud is awesome. punk is going to take heyman from roman, and roman will have to acknowledge that rollins was right. should make for some great story for the summer and rest of the year.
Fennix had a great debut, but I have to give a huge amount of credit to Nathan Fraser as well, because WOW he did incredible. He helped elevate that debut to another level (much like Chad with Penta). Awesome match. Fraser and Axiom are going to do great things on the main roster.
Certainly speaks volumes about how WWE views Nathan Fraser that they chose him to be Fenix's first opponent
Charlotte really struggled with the crowd, I expected better from someone so experienced. She looked way out of her depth, though some of the exchanges seemed off script.
I think Charlotte’s line at the end about Kaiser being in her DM’s was off-script. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They apparently edited out some stuff from the Tiffy/Charlotte promo segment last night on their YouTube clip.
And Charlotte dropping Ludwig Kaiser's name as Tiffany was walking away (Tiffany and Kaiser are a real - life couple for those not in the know). Vault drop:
punkhausen, cenahausen, and tonihausen were amazing darbystinghausen changed the world yesterday, a convention photo that will never be surpassed
