Well, let me just say in response to that that Star Wars will live long past us any of us discussing this today, and the Rebellion period will always be a crucial time period, with endless potential stories to tell, and a huge audience ready to gobble them up! Future generations will not care who originally played the characters, in just the same way that Sherlock Holmes to me might always be Jeremy Brett, but, to people younger than I, might be Benedict Cumberbatch or even David Thewlis.

My point is that your wish for that time period to remain untouched will not come true. Someone different will eventually play Luke Skywalker in his early 20s--it's just a question of when.

 

Star Wars just did Luke Skywalker deepfake and not recast. Star Wars until now has done all for connectivity its the same face.

Tarkin was a deepfake, you didnt see the actor. When you are seeing one person for over 10 years then suddenly for few months they change their face and go back to normal for their final days

 

OK; but that is what happens with Mon Mothma. She very briefly has an entirely different face, only in Return of the Jedi. Anyway, I'm now dropping this conversation. It's not going anywhere. I won't be responding about it any further.

So this right here tells you there is endless potential stories. So....they can tell any story and not be reliant on using our legacy characters then. For the most part, yes we have some other actors playing the same character but this particular one we are focusing on is a big one plus the fact that it's all in the same period of time. I'm all for keeping the characters consistent, even with cgi to do it. I'm also for recasting if it's done in another time period. There is no reason to go back and do say a Luke Skywalker, you have endless other stories, his story was told by Lucas. Case closed.

Jimmy Smits, its not much a suprise as we seen the actor in OWK show look older than he did in RO so what can you do? He is vital to the story, i agree, but it could be done off screen or with mention of his actions or deepfake.

 

I’m just excited that we’re finally getting new footage of Krennic’s cape in A.D. 2025.

 

It's really his new sash that will be the highlight for me.

 

This reminds me with how how annoyed I get every time the recast James Bond. They should use CGI to bring back George Lazenby for every movie.

Have decided that there is no way in today's social media that people can do anything other than watch each arc all at once as it airs or it will all be spoiled to death. So in the UK it means watching between 2-430 in early hours of waiting til morning...so going to have to watch with my son the following evening... But as I work evenings means Sunday this week..don't get me wrong I much prefer this schedule as I think these films are supreme works of art and deserve a cinema release

 

I've been away from the Forum for over a year.......however, this incredible show has brough me back. Cant wait to watch it and discuss with all my old pals on here!

Yeah, I just finished a re-watch of S1 last night - the show is outstanding, to me as good as Rogue One and A New Hope....and I'm certain S2 will better it.

Nice to be back Chorus...It was a self imposed ban, it did me good, and I really missed this place!

Im sure I know the answer - can anyone possibly spread this out and only watch episode 1 tonight! LOL
