Gotta say, that shot at the end really was well done. To realize it was indeed Yavin 4 all along was really well done.

Mon Mothma is just so good. The entire wedding ceremony and the tension around it was great. I also love how subtle this show is and that it really makes you pay attention to certain things such as Tay's misfortunes and what he's really asking of Mon Mothma.

He’s not asking - he’s basically telling her without directly saying it that he will be extorting Mon for money with the his knowledge that she is aiding the Rebellion against the Empire.

Yes! It highlights how dangerous and harmful it is for the rebellion when people fight dumb fights one against each other because they want power and they want to lead and they have no idea what they really need to do but also cannot recognize someone with more experience and insight than them and follow that person… they could have saved themselves by stopping to think for a moment and realizing Andor was their best shot and simply putting down their weapons and asking for help and yet they choose to fight each other like rabid dogs while killing and getting killed… that is a cautionary tale in these troubled times! The enemy is the dark side we shall not fight each other…

Completely agree. It felt so out of place, but also played before in dozens of movies and shows that it didn't offer anything.

Everything else was excellent. Not as great as the 1st episode, but still some great Star Wars there.

Watching this I realized how much I missed Andor, even though we got some amazing shows in the meantime, that I actually like more. The noise that many Andor fans make ruins this show for me a bit, but I will try to ignore that noise from now on.

Its intresting the idiot Rebels brigade, most of the Rebellion probably has these stupid ignorant people. The key is to unite them.

I’m drawing a total blank for when I ever saw this before on TV or in a movie? Can you remind me when we’ve seen the supposed god guys divid into two factions and start killing one another?

The Rebel Idiot Brigades bring absolutely zero other shows or films to mind. I found those scenes wholly original in their mix of humor, realism, and the unnecessary danger created. It was a highlight for me.

Cassian was havin' a good time on Yavin IV. Sarcasm aside, I agree with what Bor Mullet was saying. It's realistic to meet incompetent groups like that. Since I'm an old EU fan, I say that Exar Kun's spirit, which was anchored nearby, was increasing their group's divisive nature because he couldn't do anything else. Heh heh.

Mon is looking for a way out. Luthen is getting paranoid. Both are behaving in character. Two great actors at work. Love this show.

The Rebel Idiot Brigades (RIBs) kind of, sort of, reminded me of some of the kids on the riverboat trip in Apocalypse Now. But only in broad terms. Their insecurity, incompetence, fear, confusion, and unintentional humor (namely as we see them through a now-competent but frustratingly trapped Cassian) was otherwise so well and originally done. It’s that sort of messiness that I appreciated in S1, and I’m glad some of that has carried over into S2, presenting a good early contrast to what will eventually become a much more disciplined force.

I'm still trying to wrap my ahead around how Cassian stumbled upon the most misfite group of rival "rebels" one could ever imagine.

If I remember the line correctly, they were a group of Maya Pei’s rebels that seem to have been abandoned there.

I might have missed it in EP 1 but what was Cassian doing there? With a TIE prototype?

I also like that it shows the fatal consequences of that kind of insecurity and incompetence in the face of the reality of warfare. These were kids who were playing at being rebels. They didn’t have the personal experience and wisdom to know what it really means. And Cassian realizes that being caught by incompetent people can be just as bad as the opposite.

They were so incompetent it is unbelievable they lived long enough for Cassian to even arrive. At least one, single member should have been presented with an IQ above single digits just to make the group slightly more diverse than Keystone Kops. The soundtrack during those scenes should have been calliope music.

She was mentioned in an ISB scene in S1 as well.
I have to rewatch it, but I thought there was a line about them being abandoned there. Maybe they were bad apples that Maya Pei deliberately left.

I agree the band of idiot rebels seems like mostly a side quest not worthy of 1/6th of the season. I suppose the lesson to be gleaned is that it is best for all the rebel cells to work together to avoid stepping all over each other. They could form something like an Alliance of Rebels. To restore the Republic.

I liked this episode slightly less than the first episode. The pacing suffers somewhat from jumping around to so many planets/characters/sub-plots with very little progression for each. We check in with Syril for a short speech and again with Bix for a quick glance at the stars, etc. Hopefully this isn’t something that will continue when each new weekly arc is introduced.

Chandrila looks amazing. Costumes deserve an award. Everything about this screams feature film.

    On to the next episode.

I think all the rebels with a decent IQ took off. The RIBs, sadly, probably, represent the average rebellion volunteer. Their best use may be as cannon fodder. Another aspect the leaders must deal with. Can you imagine trying to make sure they follow plans, let alone keep their mouths shut about it?

Her performance here and the first season compared to when she's appeared in other lesser quality Star Wars shows really highlights the fact that great writing gives the actors the opportunity to give a great performance whereas bad writing makes even great actors look bad.
