A pound of flesh? Ah yes I'm quite familiar with the context that was used in the show. But it is possible that it was just a coincidence. But interesting never the less.

I think they are all Cylons but there's definitely a lot of question marks. Tigh was a veteren of the first war and Adama has known him for thirty years. Anders was a well-known sports star. Tyrol's kid would have to be a half-breed and the only known one is Hera. We don't know much about Tori.

Coincidence? No, Shakespeare coined the term (defined as "a debt harshly insisted upon"), and it's been used metaphorically ever since.

Holy.Frak. That was amazing. I think that's the best BSG episode I've ever seen. Excellent. I liked the Roslin/Adama scene at the beginning, Lee's speech in the courtroom was great, the Roslin/Athena/Six scene was creepy, and kinda makes me wonder how Roslin could see that at the same time as the two Cylons(the transfusion theory is interesting). The music at the end was AWESOME. Totally cool, although using an Earth song in the show is weird, makes me wonder if they're not going to find Earth in present day. I dunno. I was kinda surprised at how Kara came back at the end(in a Viper) made me kinda question if she was alive or not, cause I'd already given up on her being alive after Maelstrom and RDM's podcast. If she is actually alive and did just get picked up by the heavy raider, that would be a badass twist to have so many believe she was dead then have her not be. All in all...I can't believe we have to wait until Janruary.

I think it's awesome that Admiral Adama voted for the acquittal; I'd thought he couldn't be that impartial. :p

I also enjoyed the last part when the camera pulled out then closed in on Earth.

Hot damn what an incredible episode.

I think Tigh, Anders, Tyrol, and Torrie are Cylons. David Eick said in the 4th season we'll learn what it means to be a Cylon.

Yay for Kara being alive, and the ending shot of Earth was awesome!

Jaime Bamber gave an excellent performance.

I really think this all, the final 5, the Four now (who knows if they're Cylons?), Starbuck, Roslin... I think the explanations will have more to do with the religious/spiritual aspects of the show.

    But what a frakking trip.

Starbuck may be back, but the Dradis said UNKNOWN. That was weird.

Great episode. Easily the best of 3.5. The final shot=[face_hypnotized]

I've seen a lot of people debate whether Starbuck is a Cylon or not, and ask "How could she have survived?". The thing is, I guess they'll make it feasible no matter what. I mean she can have been a mirage that Apollo had, for all any one knows.

If Starbuck is back, I want to know how her Viper survived, because it was clearly destroyed in "Maelstrom".

Starbuck died. RDM said so. The viper she was in was sparkling new with no callsign on it, so it's not the same Viper that went through the storm. Me thinks Starbuck is in Lee's head.

Also, what was up with Roslin having a sudden headache right before the power went out? Hmmmm...

Maelstrom being the last episode I actually saw I may be way off in saying this but I can't see Starbuck actually being dead. Her character was far too important and her story was left totally unresolved. There is something just waiting to happen there and the Producers are bidding their time. This is not to say that she is necesarily alive, but something more has to happen with her story before the audience can find closure.

I know that Katee Sackhoff has shot a pilot for one of the Networks, it'll be interesting if whatever the show is gets picked up. I believe she's still under contract for BSG.

Starbuck clearly died as did her previous Viper. The Starbuck that Apollo saw was a living breathing entity as his dradis popped up with unknown. A machine wouldn't be able to see a figment of someones imagination. In the original series Apollo himself was killed and he returned from the dead with the help of beings of light and Starbuck offered to die so Apollo could live. Also when Sheba, Apollo and Starbuck returned from the dead they all knew where Earth was. The parellels continue.

Things I noticed after rewatching the ending a few times.
    • What are Starbuck and Apollo flying towards? When the camera quickly zooms out to the galaxy view, you can see the following in this order: Starbuck and Apollo, the fleet, the cylon raiders, four basestars, two planets, and then we eventually get to the view of the galaxy. Starbuck and Apollo don't appear to be flying towards the cylon fleet, yet what was that massive gray thing they were headed towards? Another flanking basestar? The Death Star maybe?

    • When Starbuck talks to Lee, it sounds as if the music is coming from her own cockpit, as if she has the radio playing. This is probably just a formative audio effect, but for a moment there I thought the music was coming from her cockpit.

    • When the camera goes to lightspeed and zooms in on earth, the first celestial body we see is clearly the planet Jupiter, followed be the moon and then Earth itself.

    • The shot of Earth gives us a nice view of North America, with Mexico and the southern United States being the most visable. I couldn't quite make it out, but it almost looks as though there are man-made lights in a cluster near central Mexico, and the rest of the continent looks very green. But from the continents we can assume that it is Earth in it's current state, give or take a million years.

Actually, I had a thought about Earth and the song that played at the end of the episode. I know that song is supposed to be a Bob Dylan song and that Bob Dylan was very popular in the 60s and 70s. So my thought was this: could RDM be setting up the new BSG to become the "real-life insperation" for the original TV show?

I remember in the commentary for "Colonial Day" way back in Season 1, Ronald D. Moore said on the commentary that the original temp track for the shot where they unveil Baltar as the new VP was "Fly Me to the Moon." He said that he wanted to keep it in because if "all this has happened before and all this will happen again," it is entirely possible that one previous loop of history had that song. Might that be what's going on here? Some connection to history repeating itself?

I never did fully understand that line, "All of this has happened once and it will happen again." Just what does that mean? Galactica will find Earth, make 13 new Colonies, make new machines, they'll rebel and we now have to find Earth 2?

Earth 2...wasn't that a bad television series during the 90s?

Sometimes, you cannot forget the wretched crap that is put on on TV. Sadly, I do remember it.

But it still wasn't as bad as Galactica 1980. *shudders* Talk about bad.

Anyway, what do y'all expect in Season 4?

I expect them to find Earth, but not a modern-day Earth or anything. Earth should be like Kobol, abandoned after some calamity or something of that sort. Or maybe Earth turns out to be the homeworld of humanity, and has been abandoned since long before the 13 tribes left Kobol.

I could've sworn there was an interview somewhere where RDM said that BSG was set on Earth's timeline, 150 years from present day. Meaning, in the BSG universe, Earth is in the year 2157.

That could have been in his head, though...

Very interesting... And you know who is always represented as pure white.

Final five = beings of light?

Also interesting. Yeah, I'm really starting to think that's the key. Maybe not a strict sci-fi-like time loop (doesn't seem to be this show's style), but something more metaphysical.
