10/29/06 - 3rd Annual WOTR Halloween Party

I agree, Kim - apparently they haven't been doing the best at communication. Had I known and been given more time, I would have made sure it was brought up at the monthly meeting.

As has been in the past with the museum, we were kept out of the loop (like we usually are with the X-Wing). But we're in it now and all will work out.

Like I said before, this is NOT for the museum - it's for the kids. And I can use help if it's offered seeing I'm way down here in Colorado Springs and not in Denver all the time.

 

This just in from Becca: "I need to know if anyone is up to a very early morning news spot with the infamous Dan Daru. We have connections and are working on it, this would be very early friday morning at the museum. We would like to have a couple of people in costume if we get this pulled off, I will let you know as soon as I do if we are a go. I am just putting feelers out now.

The last time I did a news spot with Dan Daru it was a blast."

Fan/Group Tables:

-RMFF - committed

Entertainment:

-Sword School - committed

-Clowns - working on

-Story time with Lady Grey - checking her schedule

-Belly Dancers ? kinda committed

-Characters in costume - have some committed already, working on more

-Broncos Cheerleaders (I, for one, am hoping this happens!) Working on ?em

Decorations:

-Spider webs, pumpkins, witches for airplanes, etc. (at Museum)

-spooky sounds on PA system (got the CDs from last year)

-costume displays?

-Lighting ? Museum supplying

Activities:

-Pinata ? Kevin is working on this? Museum providing candy.

-Costume Contest ? Becca and Lance hitting up people for prizes

-Jabba bean bag toss ? Where is it/can we use it? Museum providing candy/prizes.

Demo/activity tables:

-Make a hat station -needs construction paper, coloring tools, tape, scissors

-Aviation crossword

-Scavenger hunt/aviation quizzes

-Optical illusions

-Paper airplane making station

-Drag demonstration

-Vertigo demonstration


Needs:

We need warm bodies for each group?s table (duh) and then will need people for the following areas

Hat station ? 2 people
Crossword, optical illusion, scavenger hunt ? 1 person (these are all at one table)
Paper airplanes ? do it yourself (not staffed)
Drag demonstration - 2 people
Veritgo ? 2 people
Costume contest (this will be staffed by all hands ? other events close down)
Pinata ? all hands (after contest)
I think we will need about 10 people to run this thing. This is NOT counting the people at all the group?s tables. I am putting out the word tonight to see how many Museum volunteers we can get, and then we can go from there.

Also, do any groups need/want power for their set-ups?

Hey All,

We should have some extra members to help out I just need to know where they are going so I can give them the heads up. Of course and as always we will be thowing our bodies on the line for entertainment. We haven't talked about games for us as of yet but I will let you know as soon as I do. We will need some electric assistance as always for our tables. But other than that I think we are good, I have everybody practicing like crazy to make this another good showing. So all I need to know is are we the only ones fighting this year? If so we are planning to bring some set pieces with us if thats Ok. Just let me know.

I believe you may be the only dueling group there. I'll arrange the power, a few tables and chairs, etc. for you and we'll rope off space. PM me your email addy and I'll add you to the email organization list.

 

Actually, the sword school will consist of another dueling group, but they do a completely different style


We will have a central "stage" area like last year that the different performance groups will take turns doing their shtick. Feel free to bring set pieces=)

I can help out at the RMFF table or I did ok with the pinata gig last year.

You don't need to reserve characters. The RMFF can have 20 Fetts show up and I really won't care.

 

Yeah, I think I could be persuaded to come in costume.....I just have to come up with a costume. But it sounds fun! I will have to check and make sure I dont have to work that day, but I will get back with you soon.

Last I knew Jeff had Jabba, if nothing else I can arrange a pick up either Saturday or Sunday that weekend.
