At least they can say theyre part of something. Without Johnson, do you think the Yankees would have clinched the division. But you and I both know that Sheffield is the lone exception to every rule...

Who says the Sox's aren't confident! We got Theo back and still have a better starting rotation than the Yanks!

Speaking of Randy Johnson...do you think he could have won Game 4, 5, 6, or 7 in the '04 ALCS...HA, HA....[face_dancing]

At least he pitched a perfect game, and nearly got a second one, which is a lot more than I can say about Boston pitchers.

Well, if you must know, I'm from teh NYC Metro Area, which means theyre my local team. I can see the stadium lights from the community center from my town. I watch all of their games.

That's better than the typical "They win the most World Series'"

It must be nice to be so close to such a historic place...can't belive George is building a new stadium...Only Fenway and Wrigley will be left! In case you missed it I'm a sox fan!

yea, I kind of figured it. Yeah, I was crying when I heard about the new stadium. My grandparents and parents were telling me all sorts of stories about the old stadium. Its going to be sad when they open the new stadium...which luckily wont be for another few years...

At least they're leaving Memorial Park....even though it's probably hazardous to my health I absolutely have to try and get to see a Sox/Yanks game before they close it down....We are talking about the "House That Ruth Built" and he was our player first.

At least we can say that we have a team that works as a team. And besides there is no I in team.

What's the over-under on Gary Sheffield going into shutdown mode until he gets a contract extension? May 1?

At least he pitched a perfect game, and nearly got a second one, which is a lot more than I can say about Boston pitchers.

Yeah, Curt Schilling has never done anything. And Josh Beckett didn't shut out the Yankees on 3 days rest to clinch the 2003 World Series.

    Amazing.

Yankee fans may never admit they like them because they win...but that's why they do!
Most Yankees "fans" can't even name the whole line up or rotation (I'm not talking about real fans here...I know plenty of great Yanks fans...but they have more fair weather fans than ANYONE!) And we all know you can't be a rapper from New York City with out a Yankees cap.

Though we call those bangwagon fans. And us Yankee fans who are die hard prefer to ignore them.

Multiple sources are reporting that Alex Gonzalez will sign as the Red Sox' new shortstop, pending the results of his physical. The emphasis this offseason has clearly been placed on pitching and defense, though Peter (the god) Gammons does point out the following interesting information, showing that the Sox could conceivably be exactly as good offensively this year as last:

If one takes the 2006 projections in the Bill James guide, Crisp's OPS will be .790 with 13 homers; Damon's .786 with 12 homers; Loretta's is .769, compared to the combined .729 Boston had at second in 2005, and it was only above .700 because of Graffanino and Cora the last two months. Youkilis' OPS projects to be .837 with 14 homers; Millar's .802 with 13; Lowell's 782 with 16 homers (projected in Florida's park); and Mueller's .786 with 12 homers (projected in Fenway). Even Gonzalez's projected numbers against Renteria aren't so bad -- .691 with 13 homers for Gonzalez vs. .749 with 10 for Renteria. And by the defensive evaluation system used by one AL team, Gonzalez was one of the top three defensive shortstops, along with Pittsburgh's Jack Wilson and Houston's Adam Everett. Even Dustan Mohr had a .907 OPS vs. left-handed pitchers, albeit playing half his games at Coors Lite.

"If Lowell comes back to 80 percent of his 2003-2004 numbers, Trot Nixon is in the shape he is rumored to be, and Manny is Manny, then the Red Sox actually could be just as good an offensive team as they were.

I'm liking this Red Sox team this year. Looks pretty hopeful. Nothing like improving, while getting younger.

If we get Gonzalez (he won't fail his physical) We will then have agruably the best defensive infield in the Majors. Thank God for Theo, nothing happened in his 80 days away, and now two big deals!!!!!!

15 DAYS TILL PITCHERS AND CATCHERS!!!!!!!!!

Um, the Beckett trade happened during his time "away." Of course he still was the driving force behind that trade and everything else the Sox have done this winter.

    Amazing.

Forgot about Beckett... we're a better team with Theo than without...he did help us win our first series in 86 years!

    So, I wonder if there will be an interleague game this year between the Boston Marlins and the Los Angeles Red Sox. 8-}

(Accidentally posted this in the wrong thread earlier. Oops)

Ahh, the life of a lonely Twins fan. Two of their signings; god-awful Tony Batista and 98 year old retread Ruben "Been Washed Up for Years" Sierra. I'm going to go run off and have a good cry now. You jerky, jerk, eastcoast fans.
