I'm going to have to make a tough choice. There are several costumes I want to create, but I only have the budget for one. I'm going to have to chose between:

    - Zuckuss
    - 4-LOM
    - RA-7 Death Star Driod
    - Galen Marek (in Sith Stalker armor)
    - Greedo

I'm leaning towards the Sith Stalker armor, but I'm afraid no one will know who he is. (FYI: In the alternate ending to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Galen Marek is so beaten from his duel with Vader, that the Emperor has to fit him with special armor to keep him alive, just like vader. This "alternate ending" wasn't popular, I couldn't figure out how to unlock it.)

I'll probably just go with Zuckuss. The only reason why I've chosen these, is because I want to join the 501st, but I don't want to be a Stormtrooper or a Darth Vader.

Well last year was a great year - I not only completed everything I listed, I even added an upgrade piece:

    Completed in 2008:

    - Kassia - Doctor Who character from 70's Tom Baker episode "The Keeper of Traken" -
    - Nini Legs in the Air Hindi finale costume from Moulin Rouge
    - secret Moulin Rouge costume - this was Nini's Suit
    - Down With Love jacket to complete the pink dress
    - secret group costume for D*C - this was the 18th century gown
    - bonus upgrade piece - new Satine Hindi Rehearsal headdress

    List for 2009:
    - secret Moulin Rouge! related costume
    - secret classic movie costume which may end up being 2010

Backups if classic movie costume has to extend to next year:
    - Barbara Novak red fringe dress
    - Marie Antoinette black velvet ermine collar gown

I've only got two things this year. I only had one last year and didn't even attempt it.

? my own personal female jedi. I've been inspired by several who have thought "outside the box" on this one.
? possible Barriss Offee costume for a friend.

That is all I'm saying because time is so short. A year seems to fly by quickly.

Just fight Vader instead of the Palpatine at the end. When you see that weird angled shot where you run forward to fight Palps, run to where Vader is instead. Beat him and the Dark Side ending is yours! [face_dancing]

My first big project for this year is going to be the Vault 101 Jumpsuit from Fallout 3. I'm sure I'll be wearing that to Dragon*con and adding it to my store.

I also have a lot of steampunk/neo-victorian costumes that I want to do.

I bet you a hundred bucks you won't make it out of solid metal. I double dare ya. No, but seriously, could you Imagine? That would be pretty heavy. Good luck on that costume though, I love that game.

I feel so lost in here. In over my head. And rather lacking in skills since I've only had one year of sewing classes. But I have costume projects as well, even if they might not turn out very well, so I guess I'll post them here...

    1. Susan Pevensie's Night Raid outfit (Prince Caspian)- I have most of the materials and will be cutting the fabric sometime soon. I still need bits and pieces, like the medallions for the bodice and the leather laces, but it'll be finished by Halloween.
    2. Jedi robes - For a friend for Halloween. Not sure what kind of fabric to get, but I'll put these together over the summer.
    3. Susan Pevensie's green dress (the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) - might make two, one for me, one for a friend.

I doubt I'll get the green dresses finished this year, because of school and work, but I will be finishing the Night Raid.

I'm new to costuming and sewing, so I'm going to be making mostly simple stuff.

This year, I want to do (in no particular order, except for the first three)

    1. The slip/dress/shift Elizabeth Swann Turner is wearing in the "One Day" scene at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean 3.
    - Have all the materials, and the pattern worked out, just need to start it.

    2. A chemise for my sister
    - Have the pattern, and we're going out to get the materials on Wednesday, but it doesn't need to be done until April.

    3. Redo the tabards and obi on my Jedi costume (messed up BIG time with these)

    4. Renn Faire costume for myself (chemise, skirt, bodice, and nothing fancy)

    4. Snow Bunny Padme

    5. ANH Princess Leia, the one she wears most of the movie.

    6. Rum Island Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean 1
    - have a pattern which is easily modified.

    7. Pirate Disguised Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of teh Caribbean 2
    - again, have an easily modified pattern- patterns, because the pants are a different pattern from the shirt and vest.

I made all the dresses except the far left. Which I helped pattern ;) I didn't have any of the ladies with me to fit to so there is a bit of resizing to work out. But they all have dresses now so no excuses to not attend any more picnics ;) It was a lovely day by the way. Charming company, lovely scenery.
So first project down! Next up a kampfrau and a big mad Spanish frock with a ruff the sizer off a small tray!

I got hardly anything done last year, due to circumstances out of my control, so this year I'm hoping to make up for it! I've moved interstate (again) and I'm renting with a fellow costumer, so I'll have my own sewing space, and a housie who understands! Woo! But I'm also starting a course of study this year (in costume of course :p) so we'll see how much time that eats. But I'm very excited about this year, and really pumped to get some stuff done!

I had three goals with this years costume list:
    1) Make costumes that I have fabric for (since most of the fabric has been in my stash for a couple of years!)
    2) Make some super simple costumes so I don't stress so much!(mostly the superhero ones I have listed)
    3) Challenge myself with various costumes (ie sewing with vinyl, massive decoration for Giselle)
I think my list fits in with these goals pretty well!

    So my list:
    Definites
    - Upgrade Classic Leia (new hair pieces and belt, and white boots)
    - Finish pink Princess Aurora (It's about 30% or 40% done I'd say)
    - Princess Leia Ewok Village dress (got all the fabric, will need shoes and wig)
    - Princess Leia Ceremonial Dress (Have most of the fabric)
    - Jedi Costume, original design (I have most of the fabric, but I need to confirm the design)
    - Silk Spectre 1 (movie version)
    - BloodRayne (either the standard costume or the ballgown, depending on how in shape I can be :p)
    - Zatanna (my friend gifted me with the jacket, and the rest I can buy or make easily)
    - Giselle's Wedding Gown (for the Aust. Costumer's Guild ball)
    - Rita Skeeter (for the premiere of the new movie)
    - Victorian Early form bustle and bustle dress

    Possibles
    - Possibly redo Rose Tyler's 'Idiot's Lantern' outfit (or use the new fabric to make Marilyn's 'Diamonds are a girls best friend' dress :p)
    - Animated Leia (I have the fabric)
    - Poison Ivy (Bruce Timm version)
    - Disney Snow White (mostly based on the DisneyLand one)
    - Donna Troy (Preferably her WW armour, but also possibly the Red classic outfit or the sparkly Troia outfit)
    - Black Canary
    - Snowbunny Padme (I have the fabric)
    - Agent Diana Prince
    - Wonder Circe (props if you know where it's from!)
    - Mrs Lovett White and red Stripe Bustle dress

So long as I get all the definites done, I'll be happy. Though I can see a few definites that might possibly not get done (namely Giselle, though I'm happy to have that next year), and I have about 10 other possibles that I haven't listed. I also haven't listed the many 40's and 50's dresses that I plan on making for everyday wear. Should be fun to see what actually gets made! :p

No, not ambitious enough yet for a Brotherhood of Steel armor set, but I did just get done with my vault dweller suit. I've got mine ready for some conventions coming up, but I've also put it on my shop.

I have a question concerning one of my '09 projects, which I am working on as we speak...
O.K., I've pieced together the red satin gown for my Willie Scott project, and I'm working on the sequins...the only possible way I have been able to keep yards and yards of single-row sequin trim steady is to first baste it in place with a little liquid-stitch before sewing. What size machine needle would you all suggest? I've already broken 2 needles doing some practice pieces...should I go with a thin needle or a thicker one? (I had originally thought of hand-sewing, but I'd like to finish it this lifetime LOL). We're talking a lot of sewing and a lot of sequins here...although I am making the trim by hand---found some beautiful gold bugle bead trim at M&J that will do nicely. Any tips or advice is appreciated.
BTW, Kristin, your black corset gown is gorgeous! Can't wait to see it in person!:)

hey Ashlee! Glad to see you around again :D I woulld try a thinner needle (maybe an 11?). Bring a snippet of the trim to your store to see if you can test to see it if will go through the hole first ;)

I hope you'll be contacting me for that bugle bead trim if you haven't already bought it :D

Thanks :) It's now on my active costume list since it's actually wearable lol.

Thanks for the info! As for the order, the gold bugle trim is a little pricey, so I only ordered a yard to confirm that it'll work. I just got it...and it's perfect, so I'll be ordering more. The dress is really starting to come together now, which is motivational. The real trick will be trying not to punch too many extra holes in the gold sequins as I sew.[face_worried]

The only thing I truly want to do for sure is to start actually sewing my Padme light blue tatooine dress (Covering the tummy- not my greatest feature) - hopefully in time for prom! If not, then I'll have it for halloween!

And if I actually get it done, I'd love to do a Sheltay Retrac costume! Looks fairly simple.

Since i'm new to these forums, i thought it would be nice to share the plans i have for 2009. First of all: i'm more of a fantasy-fan then a Star Wars-fan (sorry! :)), but i am fond of good-looking costumes in general, so from medieval to science fiction and everything in between.

    To do list for 2009:
    - Leather sea-witch mask, already have the idea drawn out but just need to buy leather + dye.
    - Cut my darkred curtains into: Butterick 3552, the dress on the right. I already made the dress on the left in lightblue which came out just great.
    - Make the dress on the right in a nice ivorywhite: Butterick B4571
    - A big challenge for me will be making Butterick B4254 in orange to make a costume that i base on a great painting from Deviantart. The artist gave me permission (asking please please to make it before april so i can show it off on a fantasyfestival she is going too aswell :D), i just need to get started really... I'm also making the wings that are shown on the drawing.
    - Then finally coming to Star Wars; somewhere this year i want to make Padme's Loyalist Gown. I signed up initially to make an order for the fabric that is needed for the overcoat. When the fabric lies on my doormat, i can start getting the fabric on the market in Amsterdam needed for the bust and skirt as i want a good match with the overcoat :)

    Want to do:
    - Elven Second Age Armor from Lord of the Rings. I totally dig this armor and i know i can do it, but i kinda need the money to buy enough leather to make it.
    - Make a Mord-Sith costume. A Mord-Sith is a character from the Terry Goodkind-books. I started out this costume last year, finding out the red leather is not suitable for wearing since it just rips apart. It was my first shot as sewing aswell, so that didn't help much either. When i got the time (looking at all the things i want to do and probably can't do in a year) i want to start over, trying a different approach.
