I'm still on the second book myself, so if anyone out there is wanting to talk some Lando, but feels *sheepish about coming out if they haven't read the book-- don't be! Just come and hang out.
    Jammies
*Maybe instead of sheepish, you feel puffer piggish?

    I like that link. Thanks.
Thanks for coming out and discussing Lando and playing some Sabacc. I still can't believe Relin got a Pure Sabacc. I never did read the Solo movie adaptation. I'll have to pick that up.
Next book the adaptation of Rise of Skywalker due out in March.

I have high expectations for this book, like, a chapter on Darrel the wiener gun riveter.

Yeah I guess we know what Project Luminous was now.

Don't get me wrong, more Star Wars is always good and there is no bad Star Wars, but it's hard for me to get excited about this. Us oldsters have seen this many times before. These big multi platform interlocking sagas by multiple authors in a shared time frame/history. Looks like the first book is August 25? Something for the October book club?

My boss just put up a pretty good piece. I'm starting to get pumped for this one-- but I totally agree with Mika.
I think we got our October BC read.
    Jammies
/For this oldster, it's the "how the rebels found Hoth" story... Just haven't made the time to read the Marvel comics that tell that story; mainly because I've read at least four versions of that story over the decades.

Been re-reading the Republic Commando series. I know we had the internet and forums back then but I don't remember Social Media being as big a thing back then. Can you imagine the Karen Traviss "controversy" in the age of social media?

I think we were all expecting it at some point but non essential businesses will be closed now including bookstores. No book club in April. Don't see a safe alternative meet. Probably best just to hold discussion and maybe discuss two books the next time we can meet. Jammies?

I don't see much of an alternative.

    Hi gang!
Honestly, I would expect more delays. Possibly outright cancellations. The word I have been getting from the publishing industry is pretty grim. The books can't get to the printers, who can't get to the distributors, who can't get to the bookstores-- but if they go all digital then (in this climate) it's pretty much the death knell for physical media and brick and mortar stores and Amazon gets an instant monopoly. So; publishers and sellers are holding tight, marching in place, and waiting.

I still have to read Shadow Fall. I've fallen behind with my Star Wars reading although I have been doing some Star Wars adjacent reading. I picked up "Dread Nation" based on the premise...Zombies rise at the battle of Gettysburg and in the aftermath of the civil war the newly freed slaves are still exploited to fight the undead. The first book introduces our female protagonist as she's finishing combat school and things go to ruin. Part Walking Dead, part Buffy, part spaghetti western. I really liked it and it's sequel "Deathless Divide". The Star Wars connection? Author Justina Ireland who has written Lando's Luck, Spark of the Resistance, and the Upcoming High Republic book A Test of Courage. I didn't recognize the author, like I said I just liked the concept. Recommended.

Cool! I liked Justina Ireland's SW stuff. Is Dread Nation Y/A too? Not that anyone can really define Y/A anymore.

Still trying to finish Shadow Fall and write my review; it's a great book but I have "Covid Brain." Reading and writing seem much harder then it used to be, so I am way behind on my reading. Oddly, re-reading is easy and comforting. I am enjoying my rereads of the old newspaper strips and the Dark Horse comics from the pre and post Phantom Menace era. It's like they really didn't know what prequel Star Wars was all about so they had to be inventive--- just as Russ Manning didn't know what OT Star Wars was all about. They are both goofy fun, and a stark contrast to the grittiness of ar in Shadow Fall.
