You have probably never been to a game in Oregon, Washington, CAL, or USC. So how could you tell? And..don't bring up how you saw the crowd on T.V. I have been to games in Oregon, and CAL, and USC. It gets loud, and it is very tough to play in those places. Like I said, most of their blue chip players get recruited by major colleges. Most of the Samoan and Hawaiian names you see at USC, Washington, and many other colleges are from Hawaii. Look at how many are in the NFL now. Most of USC's Offense and defense did not even play midway through the 3rd quarter. Also, don't undersetimate teams from the Mountain West or WAC. Fresno State, and Boise could compete with anyone. Idaho may not be an elite team, but they are hardly roadkill. Exactly my point. But, it could also be said that the PAC-10 teams in CA are more passionate since they sellout every game, even though there are so many other games going on.

It gets loud, and it is very tough to play in those places. Guilty, But I doubt you have ever been to Neyland Stadium or Baton Rouge? I find it hard to believe that any place could be more hostile. Case in Point, Cal gave out noisemaking devices to try to replicate the noise level at Neyland. The people who are supposed to be "in the know" tend to mention those two places. (I have been to the Swamp, the Jungle, the OB, Dolphins Stadium, Bryant-Denny, the Liberty Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Music City Bowl, Legion Field, Death Valley and pretty much every other hole in the wall Alabama has played at since I was 5 (18 years of support). Didn't make it to Hawaii, but make an effort go to every game in the South East I can get tickets to. I went to the UCLA game and I wasn't very impressed with crowd noise (to be fair its been a few years since I got out there), But it seems to me that west coast fans simply aren't as serious about your football as we are, see you can appreciate a game if it was a good contest and such. I simply cannot stand the fact that Alabama will lose some games. Period. I am literally unhappy or upset when we lose of football game. But, it could also be said that the PAC-10 teams in CA are more passionate since they sellout every game, even though there are so many other games going on. California also has a MUCH larger population than Alabama or any other school/state in the SEC, and your stadiums are approximately the same size as ours... it would stand to reason that you could still sell out with more teams...
Fair enough, no I have not. But, I was not saying that the Places out west were louder or crazier than the SEC stadiums, just pointing out that we are passionate out here also.
Last Year, Kirk Herstreit rated Clemson's atmosphere as the best in the nation following the 31-7 win over GT. There is no such thing in the State of Alabama, you are an Alabama or Auburn fan, first and only. Thats why there arent any successful pro-teams here. I would rather pay money (and I pay a lot of it) to go see Alabama play Western Kentucky, then take free tickets to whatever super-NFL matchup of the week there is. And most people down here would do the same. its the same in the state of South Carolina
its the same in the state of South Carolina True, except that SC couldn't support a real pro team anyways... but theres no need for one in SC, regardless.
Are you kidding me? 31-28 with 11:00 left in the 2nd quarter? What an embarrassment to Louisville and the Big East.
So apparently those teams in the division formerly known as I-AA are now eligible for the AP Poll... wonder if App State gets votes next week
I say, why not? I understand that App St has won multiple championships and just knocked off Michigan in their own house. They could potentially be one of the top 25 teams in the country, or at least worth consideration.
I'm dead set against it (surprised), its hard and biased enough to get the top 25 Div-I teams in the right order, now you add I-AA teams into the mix and its really messed up. Have a separate poll for the I-AA's (or whatever their called nowadays). Yeah, App State beat Michigan, but they aren't I-A so they don't get bowl games anyways, so whats the point (other than making it harder for a I-A to climb from unranked to the BCS Bowls.)
It's a silly idea, but not particualrly harmful. Some voter will put them at 25 next week, but it doesn't make much of a difference. It'll just take the vote that would otherwise go to Bowling Green or somebody like that. I imagine that App State shot to the top of the FCS Poll following their win, and that's what App State fans would probably be more interested in.
Well seeing as the AP vote means nothing as far as the BCS goes, any "bias" or any "messing up" it does means squat. They'll have their own bowl (likely the championship) to deal with anyway.
I am actually concerned about my Gators heading up there this season. I'm expecting a shootout if our defense doesn't figure it out.
I'm not concerned about that game at all. You're still Florida. We're still Kentucky. It may be closer tan usual, but I have no delusions as to who will win that game. Louisville is a different story.
Aggies vs Fresno St. Our dog is better than theirs! We'd better play better than last week! Though if Fresno St. fumble four times like they did last week the Aggies are going to be all over them.
I thought it would be a good one too... but it looks like OU is pulling away. However, Marshall, a team Miami beat soundly last week, is giving WVU all they can handle. White and Slaton do not look like Heisman contenders to me.
