"not winning by enough" is one of the worst reasons I've heard for firing a coach. Though its used frequently enough
In other news, interesting game tonight between Georgia and Texas A&M - A&M dominated most of the stats... but Georgia dominated the scoreboard Special teams were huge.
Wish the bowl game would have been close on the scoreboard to go along with it running late. But you can't have everything. January 1 is quickly approaching...Let's go Penn State!
Something I saw made it sound like this is heavily about the parents complaints, and less about the actual events, whatever they were.
They were talking about this on Mike and Mike this morning, and, if what the James family alleges is true, it doesn't make Leach look good. Putting someone in a closet for a couple of hours? Since when is that a good idea? I think that this is a bigger deal than it would have been a couple months ago because of other allegations of wrongdoings of coaches to players recently at South Florida and Kansas. Schools are probably overreacting a bit, but better safe than sorry, I suppose.
So THIS is the payoff for Randy Shannon's rebuilding/neutering program? His team FOLDED in the chilly temperature, and Jacory Harris is a great bully quarterback. But when the going gets tough, he wilts.
Yah Wisconsin knocked Miami all around the field yesterday. It got close at the end, but the running game of Wisconsin pretty much beat up on the Miami D. The hype about the quarterback for Miami didn't pan out so well. Good game though.
Leach has been fired. I hope Texas Tech still is on James's side in a few years when their program goes to the Big 12 cellar.
I know people don't pay much attention to the smaller bowls, but the Bowling Green vs Idaho Humanitarian bowl had an awesome ending.
Looks like the Holiday bowl is pretty lopsided in favor of Nebraska. As a Wildcat, I'm thoroughly embarrassed. Regarding Leach: Good riddance to bad garbage.
Absolutely absurd. He has coached at TxTech for a decade without any spoiled kid complaining in an attempt to him fired. So now I guess being quirky is cause to fire someone, as I said earlier I hope Tecas Tech enjoyed there streak of bowl appearences. Plus you won't see it ESPN but there were a lot more players who were supporting Leach than against him. The Texas Tech fanbase is in an uproar, they want to kill the AD. 90% at least think Leach should still be the coach.
Yeah, I gotta wonder about the truth behind why Leach was fired - I don't think its as simple as its being portrayed. I think, for some reason or another, the Texas Tech administration wanted him gone (remember that incredibly lengthy delay in him getting a new deal last year I think?) and they're using the James situation as an excuse. I'm also a bit wary of just assuming everything Adam James says is completely true.
That interview by Hance and if u dont you are a sorry piece of ****. We have all been betrayed by our admin. so **** them and do the only thing we can do and that is spend no more MONEY on Tech football (redraiderclub, season tickets and donations). Tech can kiss my a$$ on both cheeks with their tongue hanging out ------------------------ The incident with the James kid was used by TTU as an excuse to fire Leach and avoid paying his bonus. This was a minor issue. Quietly reprimand your coach for his foolish action involving James, and allow him to prepare his team for a bowl game. TTU chose to allow this situation to publicly explode. I'm a Tech grad, but I am embarassed by this university . I hope Leach sues them and recovers every penny of his contract. ------------------- aud, you obviously never played the game. my daughter ghoes to tech and says everyone knows james is a wussy. texas tech will go down hill now. read other reports and look at what graham harrell said of adam james. he was a slacker. james wouldnt have finished 1 hour at bryant's juction boy's practices. -------------------- Leach's statement -------------------- Pulse of Red Raider nation --------------------
Tough. They asked for an apology, and he didn't give one - I don't care how good a coach he is, you lock a kid in a closet for having a concussion, you get fired.
The problem is that new information is coming out that says that a.) it wasn't a closet but a dimly lit room (which is what you're supposed to do for a concussion) and b.) there was a trainer in the room with the student monitoring him, and c.) the room wasn't locked.
