Actors for EU

So what if he died? Like I said in my first post in this thread, these books are never going to be made into movies anyway, so there's no reason you can't picture a dead actor as a certain character while you're reading.

Same thing with age. If you think a certain actor/actress would be perfect for a particular part, but they're just too old, what's to stop you from picturing them as they looked 10, 15, 20 years ago?

Yeah, I was kind of unhappy with the way they drew Thrawn in the comics, giving him a flattop and two little spikes sticking up. I liked how he looks on the HTTE covers. I always thought of him more like a blue-skinned, red-eyed Sherlock Holmes. I mean he sits in his easy chair staring at art when he's not outhinking people and totally destroying them. Heck, the only time he raises his voice in the trilogy is when C'Baoth stops Rukh from blasting one of the Wayland natives.

I actually liked how Tim Zahn looked as Karrde for the Decipher CCG card. Not saying Zahn can act or anything...

Well.. check 'Star Wars: Union' for a virtual casting call. I agree with all their picks.

Mirax Terrik -- either Winona Ryder (closest match I can think of offhand), or the girl who is Mirax in the Decipher CCG (assuming she can act)

Falynn Sandskimmer -- Linda Hamilton, I suppose. She's got that "brooding/somber" look down, from 'Terminator2'.

I'll think a bit about Face and Phanan. I'll come up with some "perfect" matches in a bit.

I'm just curious: how many of you read the comics, and if you do, do you then base your picks on actors who look the way the characters appear in the comics?

I've never read any of the comics; I make my picks (for the most part) on how the characters in the novels speak and act. I try to fit them to an actor who matches the physical description, then adjust my pick to an actor who I've seen in a similar role.

And occasionally I base it strictly on physical appearance, or by a picture on a novel's cover. I suppose that's the same as going by the look in a comic.

Both ways are interesting, I think. I'm just wondering how other people do it.

 

Crow T Fett, I read the comics, but I don't totally base how the character looks based on how they look in the comics (except Mara Jade in Union, that was perfect) but it sure helps sometimes to tell the other characters apart.

Most of the time I don't pick a well-known actor as an EU character. When they give a physical description I picture how they would look in real life.

In my mind I have my own versions of what Thrawn, Corran, Jacen, Jaina, Anakin and other EU characters look like.

 

Okay, I was just looking at the Essential Guide to Characters, and I happened to come across Gaeriel's picture, and you know who she reminds me of? I can't remember the actress's name but in the movie, Back to the Future, the girl who plays Marty's mom as a teenager.

I gotta admit that Elijah Wood would make a wonderful Anakin. He's just way too short. By the time SbS rolls around, Anakin is about a head taller than any of the other Jedi, and Elijah is around 5'7" in real life. Still, he'd definitely be able to pull off the role.

I would have to agree with theforce.net casting call. The best thrawn would be jerimy irons. No offence but, perise and tim curry would be horible thrawns. in that doctored pic, irons looks just like thrawn.

oh and the CG idea is very good. that would be the best.

 

Yarua, good calls on Witherspoon and Flockhart. Personally I'll stick with Julia Stiles as Danni, but Reese would be great, too.

I think Sarah Michelle Gellar would be perfect as Guri.

Jason Lee as Exar Kun? What the hell is with that? Every time I see him, I just picture Brody from Mallrats. I can just picture Kun walking up to Master Vodo, saying, "Hey, master Vodo, I know how much you love your chocolate covered pretzels, so I would share these with you! Look, they're all nice and melty!" Exar Kun's real darkside power was the stinkpalm. I know Jason Lee is a talented actor, but he just doesn't fit my vision of Exar Kun.

Well, so far ive only come up with one idea, that being Jaina circa NJO, and that would be this little lady here.

 

Pierce Brosnan does have the "face" of Thrawn but I envision Thrawn as James Woods. His "matter of fact" voice just seems to come out whenever I read Thrawn describing his art or how he describes his tactics to Pellaeon.


Kyp is the guy with the huge unlucky streak so I sort of envision Hugh Jackman for that part.

Corran could probably be played well by Mel Gibson.

 

I think Jason Behr<sp?> would make a better Anakin then Jacen.....

 

i think kate beckinsale would make a good...and especially hot...ysanne isard. i also think kevin nash would be a cool shedao shai...even though he is fricking huge compared to a yuuzhan vong.
