How can her role be at an end? She just deputized us so we are under her command. This is the first shot at legitimacy we've had in this whole miserable "quest." I would also like to volunteer our team to go back and do the burials.
Maik's Sidequest Checklist: 1.) Bang Malia Obama 2.) Destroy Wocky's lute either with mine own hands or by some trickery 3.) Burn Mosstone to the ground (min level 9 required) 4.) Protect and defend the Kender, Asta, whom i have come to see as my sister and partner in crime
Wocky she's asked you to investigate the Wicked Men and their vast kidnapping conspiracy. If you want honour, you should accept, though of course the profound kinship you feel with these sinners may prevent you from accepting.
I order another pint of mead and guard my weapons as weapons ARE one of the most stolen items and there seems to be a lot of debauchery happening with our live entertainment.
"Though we must discover the agenda of this conspiracy and who is behind it, might it not be wise to leave the bard here in the village? I would hate to see such a delicate man despoiled, or worse to have such a precious instrument ruin in the hands of a novice."
"Also, you should all know -- it's happening here in town as well. Several priests from the local temple(s) have also been abducted with the sigil of the knock-off handbag left behind..."
"Well then, even more cause to get on your way. I'm afraid, though, the sash and badge of office have chosen to return to their rightful owners my small friend. I can alleviate the burden of your loss, however, with this reward of 50 gold pieces?"
"Oh, oh it seems that...hm...yes, they wish to return to you after all." But I really wanted to keep that sash.
Iellonicus nods approvingly at the continued social critique. Now the badges and insignia of office are rightfully restored to those of the means to carry out such burdens, as symbolized by the exchange of gold pieces.
What about Tunick being fed proper meals, on a regular basis? OK everyone, so. * You have some cash (50GP!) and lost the cursed beezboots. Oh. I should have paid you in electrum or platinum. * Your turncoat bard tried to turn you in and G07 R3K7 as a result * He also volunteered you to bury the dead. Any takers? * There's apparently been a spate - an actual spate - of kidnappings in the region with both the Temple of Helm, and the City Watch, being aware of it. It's all tied to this mysterious Lord Vivec in Waterdeep. Now, if you want to take up this quest, you can. The easiest way to travel would be to sign on to a merchant caravan as guards so as to give you access to horses etc. Walking on foot can also be fun, especially with Wocky around:
They probably couldn't afford your rates. And when they're sleeping in tents... you'll... IN: 1. Iello 2. Maik
I'll go to the merchant square and buy a self-assembling luxury tent, of course. They have those, right?
There's a perturbation in the Force. O **** waddup! It's the co-host, the statmaster, ready to stat one more character for Maese Ender to drop into his campaign whenever he feels like it (probably to replace Maik as soon as he hilariously dies)! It's time for siha 's character! Catheryn Medusahair Female Half-Elf Wizard (Enchantress) Witch 1 Age: 27 but looks considerably younger ("I'll cut you.") Appearance: piercing blue eyes and curly brown hair that appears to unnaturally float around Height: variable Weight: look, over there! A three-headed monkey! Alignment: Chaotic Neutral SIHA: Should I be offended that you made me a witch character? JTS: No! One of my favorite AD&D characters was a witch! SIHA: Okay, so what are the benefits? JTS: Well, you have several enchantment spells, to manipulate and charm people. Plus you get a lot of special abilities as you gain levels. For example, at level 1 you can detect and read magic at will. Pretty useful! SIHA: Sounds neat! And the drawbacks? JTS: Uh, her period is pretty bad. SIHA: What!? JTS: "The Witch suffers a -2 penalty to her attack rolls and a -2 penalty to her saving throws on any night with a full moon and the three nights before and after the full moon." SIHA: ... JTS: You know it's what they mean! SIHA: I hate you. STR 9 DEX 10 CON 14 INT 17 WIS 14 CHA 12 HP 5 AC 8 CORUSCANT: Wait! What is this? I was first in the list! JTS: I know but look, this is not an exact science. CORUSCANT: This is bull****, this is what it is! JTS: I swear there's no reason I'm statting her first. It's just that inspiration struck. SIHA: David! Dinner's ready! JTS: I'm on my way, sweetie! Equipment: Dagger (1d4); sling (1d4); 2 healing potions (1d8+5); protection ring (-1 AC); CORUSCANT: Wait, she starts with magic objects!? JTS: Yeah, it's in the kit's description. Here, read it. CORUSCANT: Omagawd, is this what happens when the DM's wife rolls a character!? ENDER: Pretty much, yes. familiar (cat); SIHA: Ohhh can she look like one of our cats!? Grey and fluffy!? JTS: Well. Familiars tend to suffer the most horrible deaths. They are a favorite target of evil DMs and, you know... Ender. ENDER: SIHA: A black male short-haired cat, then. JTS: Wise. witchy-looking costume; broom; small cauldron SIHA: Are you going to make a joke about cleaning and cooking? Because... broom; small cauldron. Role in party: Witches are basically social characters. They are not the best at combat, but they excel at messing around with NPCs. Catheryn is likely to hide behind the meaty warriors, like Tracy or Danni, but she's also likely to take the leadership position and mess with their opponents' heads (so fun!). Their high Wisdom and Intelligence makes them pretty resistant to mental attacks (and Catheryn is a half-elf because she's a total munchkin) and pretty skilled in general. Plus later on they can curse people and ruin their lives in extremely sadistic ways. Aw yeah.
Guarding human merchants is so undesirable. And yet, as an elf I do love pretty horsies. Quite the conundrum.
I've just started on the Acquisitions Inc podcast - Chris Perkins from WOTC running a 5th ed D&D game with Jerry and Mike from Penny Arcade, Scott from PvP Online, and author Patrick Rothfuss as players. Now, the players were loaned Guenhwyvar by Drizzt (!), and were given a whistle that summons a unicorn. I immediately thought who would fight hardest for a whistle like that out of you guys. And then decided I'll introduce one later to find out. It's worth grabbing the podcast to hear a good GM and good players run wild. Plus Gabe's/Mike's character is a wizard called Jim Darkmagic.
OK, if anyone wants to remain behind, say so. The rest of you, save Iello, find a caravan to sign on with as guards. The pay is ok, but you have 50 GP between you so don't mind as much. The caravan is going to Athkatla, the town from Baldur's Gate 2 where those coins you found came from. There you can get passage by sea to Waterdeep. here's the continent you're passing: The caravan has, through convenient contrivance, employed siha as part of the guards. I'm not sure if Boba_Fett_2001 is playing, but if you're in, you're also in this group because stuff.
Brvtal. Also trve. I kind of fell off those once they rescued Al from Hell. Need to get back in on the Rothfuss episodes.
