This is actually amazing. I've always felt that Adam Driver resembles Han/Harrison Ford to an extent, especially his facial structures. Add that with Leia/Carrie Fisher's darker features (eyes, hair, etc.), and this is kind of the child I could imagine they would have together. Ben Solo does resemble both his parents in different ways (sorry this is the most obvious thing to write), so Adam Driver, in my opinion, was terrific casting... in addition to how great of an actor he is.

Gifs from TFA make me think if JJ would've slowed down alittle but he could've made those already great shots a tad better. Every gif from TFA is frickin beautiful!

Completely unrelated to any of the above:

Has it been established that Kylo's real/previous/non-evil name was "Ben Solo?" I'll be honest, I totally assumed he just went by Solo because it's so cool. Are we sure he didn't go by Ben Organa-Solo? Something else?

Not in the film itself. He's only ever called "Ben" and that was only in that one scene with Han. I guess people just kind of assume that he has his father's last name because, traditions I guess.

And why is Kylo originally named Ben? Han and Leia both have some but little connection to Obi-Wan(Leia has a small connection but never really knew him that well) Luke was the character with a strong bond with Kenobi(its why in the books Luke names his kid Ben…). Kenobi was a father figure to Luke, not to Han. Luke and Obi have a relationship throughout all three films because Obi speaks with Luke as a spirit. Even when Obi-Wan and Co. go into the deathstar in ANH, it’s Luke that personally saves Leia, not Obi-Wan(he was lowering the shields for the team, Leia and him never even spoke{Kenobi exiles himself on tatooine(you know, jakku before jakku)… Did they even watch the old films? Oh wait, of course they did, they COPIED THEM PLOT POINT FOR PLOT POINT, that’s right. I guess they just didn’t listen to them or pay attention as they lifted the visuals and general concepts. If anything Kylo should have been named Luke since Han has a strong connection/friendship with him(remember they save each other’s lives in the old films{“That’s two you owe me junior”} and {“Now I owe you one”}). I wouldn’t have named Kylo Luke, but it makes more sense than naming him Ben!
Ren is a cheap, knock off of Jacen Solo from Star Wars the expanded universe books as well as Darth Revan from knights of the old republic the video game. Google image darth revan and compare it to photos of Ren. Google and read about Jacen Solo(one of Han and Leia's kids in Star Wars cannon for DECADES before in 2015 many changes occurred). For decades, it was Luke's kid that was named Ben, because that actually makes sense with respect to the previous 3 films that came before it. Apparently copying from the original trilogy wasn’t enough, one had to steal from old Star Wars expanded universe cannon books and video games too, which by the way have now been declared non-cannon. How very “1st” Order. COPY AND TAKE CREDIT

My guess is that they Luke had some involvement in choosing the name, even perhaps suggesting the name "Ben." Also technically Obi Wan is the guy who kind of brought them all together in the first place.

I have to agree that Luke having a child named Ben is more natural than Han and Leia having a child named Ben. I mean, they barely met him. (Unless Rebels has retconned this?)

Here's my theory. When Han saw Ben go one-on-one with Darth Freaking Vader in his own house, sacrificing his life to save theirs, he felt really bad about egregiously overcharging the guy and then telling him his religion was hokey. He pressed Leia to keep Ben's name alive by way of apology.

Well, Leia at least knew of Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi, since she sent R2D2 to find him as her only hope in ANH. So know, while Leia/Ben weren't ever onscreen together at the same time, there was clearly some backstory alluded to there.

Rey beat up two unarmed people with a staff. If you gave the average person a stick, they'd do the same.

I have wondered since seeing the film... Is Leia feeling the death of Han or the pain of Kylo in the scene where she looks like her heart has broken?

they are both her family. i think it's funny that it is constantly interpreted that she is feeling ben going over to the dark side when she has also just lost her husband. but anyway...

Avnar I wouldn't be surprised. She does has the Force and most likely would have a connection to both of them. Like when Obi-Wan felt the death of all the people on Alderaan.

I got the sense that it was her feeling Han's death (because they cut to her immediately after Han falls off of the bridge).

I do like Ben as his name but I still wish it was after one of his grandfathers, Anakin or Bail.

If your son was a mass murderer. If he was one of those maniacs who shot up their high school, is there any going back?

"Come home son. All is forgiven." just wouldn't work out.

This is one thing that I never really understood in TFA. Leia is the leader of the Resistance an Kylo/Ben has just participated in the mass genocide of the New Republic, it's not like he could be welcomed home at the Resistance with his mom and dad. What was Leia's plan exactly? Han believed in her enough to sacrifice his life trying to reunite them as a family, but if Kylo had come home with him, what would have happened? He'd have to be put on trial for his crimes and either imprisoned for the rest of his life or executed.

Of course it was a similar issue with Luke and Darth.

If you dragged into camp the body of Hitler "He said he was sorry." the other soldiers would not take it very calmly.

Leia would take him and disappear forever.

What did Luke think he would do with Vader in ROTJ had he "turned to the good side" ?

thats the point. Thats why Han pauses for a time before confronting him, and looks vulnerable, simply cos he knows this is the almost certain outcome. BUT he is his son and more importantly, he is his father and he did not give up hope as only a parent could do in these circumstances. It was brilliant and will most likely play a major part in ben's role in 8 & 9.
