ST Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) in Episode VII

I see Driver as the most powerful Force user of the newbies. I can see him being more powerful than Ridley and Boyega.

 

Maybe. It could happen. I see him as being a womanizing weirdo like in Girls and The F word.

 

Yep, which would make an interesting set up for our heroes. Ridley/Boyega having to team up as Jedi against Driver. Boyega/Ridley are not as powerful but inherently more noble. Driver, alternatively, is more powerful but evil(or twisted into evil).

I think its bringing back Star Wars, fundamentally, to what it was back in 77': The story of underdogs, not chosen ones.

 

i reckon a big thing with driver is that yes he will be more powerful than the ridley/boyega combo initially, but his problem will be that he will think he's actually about 10x more powerful...and they may end up surpassing him

 

Well, it would seem that the most powerful Jedi seems to be Luke....

Exactly. Mind we are all hearing this thing about Ridley and Boyega being co-leads. Maybe we have to get used to the 2 vs 1 duels from now on. The good part is Luke will be needed too, specially if we consider there is a greater evil that might need some chosen one to be defeated.

 

Well nobody was really overpowered in the OT. The strongests in the force were Yoda and the Emperor but they were so old they could barely move.
There is a certain appeal in underdogs like Zayne Carrick fighting against evil and eventually developing into competent heroes (unlike Potter who still relied on dumb luck and Dumbledore's gambits in the final battle).

 

Assuming the figure in the trailer is Driver and if he is indeed a Sith fantatic/relic collector. With his supposed obsession with Vader, his over the top unwieldy lightsaber, his almost comically generic Sith outfit (can imagine this guy choosing the mask look just because it's Vaderesque), does anyone else think this guy's going to get his ass kicked at the end of this film? I can see him as over confident, a sith poseur, meddling with things he doesn't understand and being humiliated in the end, but simultaneously perhaps setting something more dangerous in motion.

I think the figure is Gwen but otherwise I like the idea. I mentioned in the villain thread before the trailer hit that someone collecting odd looking sith artifacts seems like an average counter culture obsessed teenager. If the kid gets too much he asks for and dies fighting Luke, Luke would be devastated. Cue him turning to the dark side. Of course Gwen being the mistery figure would throw all of it out the window.

 

I say it's Driver, since he's been rumored to be the villain and also to be the Sith Collector, also that SWU, picture with the Revan mask holding the same lightsaber as the figure in the teaser was said to be Driver.

and did people forget that GC is supposed to be playing the Chrome Stormtroper and Boyega's superior, who also happens to wield a wampa claw lightsaber, doesn't really fit the figure.

 

So, once and for all: Driver is not the man in the rebel pilot suit?

He very well could be. I get the feeling they'll keep the identity of this villain a secret, and give us a few possibilities as to who it is, like a murder mystery of sorts. Driver could be an apparent "good guy" until it's revealed he's not, or he disguises himself as a Rebel pilot to infiltrate their base.

 

Have you two seriously watched the trailer lol!?! There is no doubt that is Oscar Isaac piloting the X-Wing.

 

Wace_Mindu We're referring to the older leaked photo from Greenham Common of a rebel pilot that looks a lot like Driver, not the shot of Isaac in the trailer.

i really dont think the cloaked figure in the trailer is the relic collector/cyborg character. if you look at the concept art below you see the grave robber baddie in the back. notice how much more he is clothed? his cloak is far larger than the forrest baddie. you cant even make out the shape of his body like you can with forrest baddie. but the most telling giveaway that they are 2 different characters is that they are using different lightsabers.





im leaning towards the forrest baddie indeed being Christie and Driver possibly being this character. ifi remember correctly the rumor is that the grave robber is also taking force sensitive body parts from ancient sith lords to reconstruct himself, hence why he only has lips now. Adam Drivers face just looks like it was compiled of many of the most evil sith that ever exsisted.

this was a concept done way before casting, so you can't really judge if it fits.

 

The masked guy is a placeholder. The only villain with a fight on this movie will be Driver I think. The true villain will only go down to the arena in IX I think.

 

I think there'll be a placeholder villain because the heroes need a threat but it won't be Driver, his journey to the Dark Side will be one half of the film. The other half will be Daisy and Boyega's journey to the Light Side.

 

Could be him I guess.

Anyone picking up on this duality --

Boyega's character starts in a stormtrooper outfit (bad guy) but becomes the good guy.

So perhaps Driver is in the inverse ... starts off in a Rebel pilot suit (good guy) but then becomes (or we learn) that he is a bad guy.

So they could be character foil's if my high school English class study of Shakespeare serves me correctly.

I'm still hoping that Driver is a Solo kid who starts out good, possibly piloting the black x wing, and then turning to the dark side

 

I apologize in advance for the double post most gracious mods but this thread has gone silent and I think this needs to be shared. Search Darth Wredd. Hes a sith who appears in the Star Wars Legacy 2 comic (the same comic hinted at in Rebels "Empire Day", which closely matches the rumored plot of TFA) and he looks ALOT like the revan-like masked sith found in leaked concept art. Theres another version of Wredd that looks a lot like the half-faced cyborg sith shown in concept art about 7 posts up ^

Moral of the story, search Darth Wredd, willing to bet he's the inspiration for the sith we've seen in concept art and the new trailer
