Force Ghost Ackbar: “It’s a trap! I thought I was getting out of this hellhole, and here I am. Only I can’t even fly ships anymore.”
I actually like how offhandedly brutal Admiral Ackbar's death is. Not everybody get a big time ending in a war, sometimes the shell just goes off too closely.
There's a new Mon Calamari in the new Journey to Star Wars: Allegiance comic that's supposed to be released in October. and I'm hoping he or she is the child or neice of Admiral Ackbar and takes up his mantle as leader of the Resistance's fleet.
Ackbar didn't die, though. As soon as he was blown out that window, he was picked up by a small ship, piloted by the one and only Admiral Raddus. They then went on many, many adventures together, saving the galaxy from countless threats worse than a hundred Palpatines or Snokes. This is what I tell myself to not cry at night.
Agreed. I like the character but don’t see the huge reason to be angry about his demise. Lots of SW characters die.
They had to kill him off so that Admiral Holdo could step in and show us men that a strong woman is all we need and can save the day. Disney star wars doesn't care about OT characters and has done its best to try and ruin them. Plus if they used him they'd probably have to pay GL some royalties.
I really don't know why people act like Ackbar was such a major character that deserved any real story line. The admiral went down with his crew. Heroic enough for me.
Yeah, as you can see not the biggest TLJ fan and honestly I don't understand why everyone was mad AA died, he's not that big of a deal.
He's a fan favorite to a lot of people. A lot of fans were disappointed at the perfunctory way his death happened. Honestly, I didn't even see it the first time I saw the film. He deserved better.
"General Sarge?" Sergeant General? Nah, that just sounds silly. Edit to add mandatory "DON'T CALL ME SIR, I WORK FOR A LIVING!"
A strong woman can save the day, if properly written. However, Johnson didn't have to kill of Admiral Ackbar in such a wasteful manner to achieve this.
Yes, let's have the character named 'Ackbar' commit a suicide attack and see how well that goes down.
