You have to give the kid credit; he could have bought a vidgame for Gamecube and spent hours and hours eating Count Chocula cereal and cramping his thumbs in front of the TV, or could have bought (at a computer fair) a ( probably warez from Kazaa) copy of AE to experiment with. Sure "filesharing" maybe stealing (legions of Metallica diehards scream that it is). But did he download it it? He probably knew that it was a copy of AE, but ultimately he was ripped off; he could have gotten free from Kazaa, but instead payed some unscrupulous bugger £45.00 who might have gotten it off of Kazaa, WinMX, or some other filesharing program.

I don't condone the (il)legal aspects of all of this; legal paid for versions are the way to go. But if I had to choose between someone playing a premade game, or some one creating work from efforts made with a Handycam, I'll choose the latter.

I have a legal copy of AE and I have the Manual and everytime I try to read it, my brain starts to bleed. I have found RyanW's tutorial helpful. It's a great start to figuring out AE.

I know of a website where they sell copies of programs that come with serial numbers or cracks. They call themselves a legit business, selling only discs, but is it really? I mean a full on business that takes credit cards. And I found them through eBay, of all things.

    Ain't the digital age great?

That's great that you're 12 and all, but don't try to defend yourself for stealing. What if you wanted a $1500 computer and you didn't have the money? Does it make it okay to steal it just because you're 12? You should just cut your losses and shut up before you dig yourself in any deeper.Did I say it was ok just beacause i'm 12? I know that a lot/most of you have jobs and thats how you get the money for it. I'm just saying I haven't got a way to get the money. I have been saving up for the legit version of AE for a LONG time, but when I found out it isn't available in the UK I just blew it on other stuff (Computer Upgrades, Gamecube/Games etc. That's what I hate about alot of people in this board whenever someone says warez or even hints it everyone kicks off, use this situation. AE isn't out were you live and probably never will plus if it does come out you probably won't have the money, you could just download it but you know thats illegal and will take ages on your crappy 56k modem. You visit computer fairs reguarly and usually see a lot of legit second-hand goods. You're in the computer fair and then you see a table with a load of second-hand cd's (or so I thought), so you look for the program you have been wanting for years, and you know it will be cheaper since it is second hand, and guess what YOU FIND IT! In cellophane and in good contition. You ask how much it is and the guy says '£45.50'. You think thats miles lower than the RRP. You think about importing a Gamecube game + a Freeloader to play it, But this is the thing you have wanted for years. You buy it. You get home, unwrap the cellophane open the disc cover and you see a Sony 700MB CD-R with a slugish AFTER EFFECTS written on it and a sticker on the back of the front cover with the serial. You decide to bring it back and demand a legit version but you know that they wont give you one because a) The cover has been opened and b) They probably downloaded it. Horrified that you have an illegal disc. But you decide you just might as well install it and use it. You install it. But you don't know how to use it. You go to your favourite forums (TFN Forums) and ask for help on the Fanfilms board. You have a ok number of replies untill someone hints that you have a warez, now everyone except a few flame you for it. All you wanted was some simple tutorials for AE and now you are a total disrespected person on the board.

Lighten up, dude. We are trying to protect the entire forum by acknowledging the legality involved here. It's not a personal attack on you. This board will get shut down for advocating piracy. And, none of us want that. This is not a threat. It's a fact that has been discussed many times.

So for the last time. Stop trying to defend yourself. You're making things worse for yourself, and potentially the rest of us as well.

Now back to the subject at hand...
If it's tutorials that you want, just search around here, there's no shortage of them.
