technically it is the space station from the future because they're both the same location, the lighthouse. the space station was just the same area but, like, 100 years later and floating in space.

As for SHIELD running around freely that was technically resolved in Season 3 but there's a lot more of it now and the dearth of a huge gaggle of SHIELD agents (I think at most we see is, like, 12 at a time), I just go with "Because Snapture".

I did just read a theory that Agents of SHIELD is following the Endgame / MCU time travel rules that going back in the past just creates an alternate reality. Like last season after the AoS crew left the future, the humans were still there, they didn't blip out. So they go back and Deke doesn't disappear when they stopped Talbot because they had already created an alt reality.

Now one has to just figure out if they did create an alt reality why didn't they get Snapped / what stopped Thanos? Maybe (literal!) Butterfly Effect Thor went for the head in Wakanda due to all of the tremors in Quake's fight with Talbot across the globe and it pushed it Stormbreaker up a foot into Thanos' face.

So, another so-so episode. But at least we’re starting to potentially link the two storylines this season.

The stuff with May was pretty good- though undermined by essentially reintruducing stuff introduced last episode.

I like that we may be dealing with the third monolith or the monolith origins. And putting them in context with the Chronicoms is an interesting way to do it while also seemingly addressing the Confederacy at the same time.

But maybe we’re finally getting out of the treading water phase. Still feels like everything we’ve gotten so far could have been condensed down to 2 or 3 episodes at most.

Since we're dealing with time travel here, maybe fake Coulson is an LMD created by Fitz to go back in time to save the Chronicom homeworld, and I guess he ends up going rogue or something?

    How neat is it that
ley lines play a part. Love those things. Also nice is the fifteen minutes it takes for Trucker May to dispense with Snow, "make it hurt" re Fake C., and presumably get her ears on.

Oh wait maybe not a LMD, since that's been ruled out. More like, a copy of Coulson downloaded from the Framework into a body like AIDA, and then sent back in time.

I thought the latest episode gave the biggest hint regarding "Sarge," which is...
He's the "nightmare" version of Coulson. I mean, the episode hit that point several times especially when Agent May was dreaming about Coulson in Tahiti and Sarge in the big rig. Additionally, the episode showed the Sarge and his crew aren't really bad guys, but rather anti-heroes of sorts by trying to kill off the head of the alien space bats creatures. Their plan to lure the head of the alien space bats to earth and kill him while blowing up earth.

I also think this might tie into the plight of the Chronicom homeworld. Sarge and his crew could be the space and time distortion and the alien space bats are the things that have run ravaged across planets.

I am not sure I like this season. I think the previous one should have been the series finale. It is time for a new series...

I felt the series could have ended after the pilot episode. LOL I mean, so many people on the internet were turned off by the campy style of the pilot. This season is only 13 episodes long and I think it's coming together after the last episode.

At this rate, the back half of the season has a lot of lifting to do to bring the season back on par with past seasons. Though, at this point, I'm expecting to treat this season as the first half of Season 1 that Season 7 can be the second half of Season 1 to pay off the more ground-zero-new-setup they've been doing and get things back on course.

Better episode last night, though it ran up along the line of self-parody at times. The semi-flashbacks kinda made me start to perceive that most of what has happened in this season so far are events that would normally be skipped over in the 6 month jumps between seasons we used to get (the semi-flashbacks being somewhat literally so in this case). Still, hard to complain too much about an episode focused mostly on Fitz/Simmons (especially with them being apart all season so far).

    "You are so English."

I don't really get why evil Jemma was the girl from The Ring? But the way it ultimately addressed The Doctor was pretty funny.

(tap) “Didn’t know you liked that.”
    “Didn’t know you’d do that...”

Even though they were mostly unnecessary, the glimpses back at past scenes that happened off screen or before the series were nice moments. Though with the shifting hair and clothing styles there was almost a vibe of someone going back to wearing what they wore in high school, even though it's only been 6 years.

(Then again, I've worn jeans & t-shirts for 30 years, so who am I to criticize?)

i don't mind them doing an episode flashing back on how they met or the past but the way they did it i didn't care for at all.

    All my Devon ancestors
got cramps from laughing at "You're so English."

I found the episode heartwarming, life affirming and all that good stuff. A practical note is that the 8 p.m. time slot works so much better than later, thanks ABC@};-.

Hmm, hopefully the earlier timeslot isn't limiting them. I know when they moved to 10pm for Season 4 it let them open the show up a bit more in terms of content (which worked well given the subject matter).

Ghost Rider. Opening scene of the season had a lot more splatter than usual ;).

Yeah, Ghost Rider absolutely necessitated that 10PM timeslot.

This latest episode was like Into The Fitz-Simmons-verse as we saw different "versions" of the characters, both real (as in different points in time) and surreal like the Framework Leopard. But my favorite versions of the Fitz-Simmons-verse were the college days of the character because Fitz was a sweaty nerd and Fitz and Gemma remember/experienced that day differently.

Episode 8 (2 episodes from now) is listed as "Part I" on my Tivo listing. Looks like we'll have a semi-mid-season 2-parter. Interesting given the format change. I don't think we've ever had a mid-season 2-parter that was actually named as such, only 2-part season finales after they were broken up into single episodes.

The May flashbacks made me 25% think that both May and Coulson went through Tahiti project to rewrite their memories but then that would mean Sarge's crew would have to do that too, and Coulson would need a real hand, so I guess he is who he says he is.

So much for my theory that the new guy's husband died in the snapture, though. I quite liked that No Prize too! Well maybe his 2nd husband died in the snap.

The Fitz/Simmons episode was really solid and I loved the darkly twisted way they ended it by just having the evil copies make out with each other, that was downright strange. Fitz wig in the flashbacks was really ... unfortunate. But hey it's a mind palace so I'll give it a pass.

Spider-Man: Far From Home, on Tuesday:
Mysterio: "They're drawing power from the Earth's core!"
Fury: "That's a bunch of bull****."

    Agents of SHIELD, on Friday:
Sarge/Not-Coulson: "They'll draw power directly from the Earth."

So, actually a good episode. The season finally starts to feel like things are coming together, even if the main antagonist probably should have been setup earlier. A shame it took one of their likely-more-expensive episodes to do it, though.

One thing that made it a little easier to enjoy was having a realization that made it easier to adjust to the shift in style/structure: this show has basically become Stargate SG-1, but, like, the earlier, budget-saving seasons. The Lighthouse is the SGC, and the random, human-looking aliens-of-the-week missions out into space with the occasional creature and spaceship shot, and with a lot of humor added in.

Which, I suppose, shouldn't have been all that surprising- even the first half of last season had the whole Kree thing where Kasius was essentially a Goa'uld in all but name and symbiote.
