Full Series Ahsoka in Rebels

Discussion in 'Star Wars TV- Completed Shows' started by Darth Valkyrus, Nov 6, 2013.

?

What should Ahsoka be like if she turns up in Rebels?

  1. Like she was before the S3 timeskip. Snippy, impulsive, petulant, a little over-agressive

  3. Radically grimdarkened, fatalistic, sarcastic, determinist, but still essentially a good guy.

    Here’s one fan’s speculation on Ahsoka’s fate. I didn’t write this I‘m just sharing.

    http://aminoapps.com/page/star-wars/9968089/why-ahsoka-could-be-in-rogue-one-viii-and-ix

In summary Ahsoka could be back for seasons 4 and/or 5, possible R1 cameo, and granny-soka in VIII and/or IX. IMO the possibilities are endless at this point in time. I’m hoping the Ahsoka novel will at lest point us in the right direction of where her story will be continued.

I don't see her being back in Rebels,, if only because Filoni admitted straight out, she will overshadow the Main cast (she was anyway) I do wonder if she will get her own spin-off movie etc or feature in a series set after RTJ and meet Luke.
I suppose she could be in Live action. The issues will be 1, Whether they have Ecksteins voice or not and b) making sure an orange woman with tentacles on her head doesn't seem ridiculous to the general audience. Its different in Animation after all. You don't want to have audience members reminded of being Tangoed, when they see Ahsoka, after all.

Well in fairness, the general SW audience (at least the ones that saw the PT movies) did see Shaak Ti for a cup of coffee.

True but there's a big difference between a quick glimpse with no speaking part (RotSdeleted death scenes aside) and being the main character in a spin off movie. Why not just keep it animation, be way simpler

I don't even think it's the look of an "unfamiliar" species that would be so alarming to the general audience. Every new SW movie has featured at least a few new aliens; typically one weirder than the other.

This is Star Wars. It has giant sentient slugs and toad-like creatures with lips on a stick. An orange woman with blue-white chevroned horns, and tentacles in place of hair, isn't actually a problem at all.

If you expect more than small easter eggs in the movies, you're going to be disappointed. Reminds me of when some people were convinced Maz was Ventress first because Lupita looked the same and then with the teaser, they fought it was Ahsoka just because she has orange skin.

Why wouldn't the movies pull stuff from TCW / Rebels?

They pull stuff from the EU often enough... or at least they did when George was running the show. And TCW / Rebels currently hold a lot more water than the EU.

Yes yes, I know what some are going to say. They're gonna raise the specter of the "casual fan", who they will say make up 99% of the SW watching audience. People who allegedly have no idea that Anakin had an apprentice. And who still think Darth Maul died on Naboo at Obi-Wan's hand. And who would be confused and offput if Maul, or Anakin's apprentice, showed up in a movie without a ****ton of in-movie exposition. And for this reason the movie makers must whore to this demographic and not bring in anything that was only introduced in the animated TV shows, for fear of a bad reaction from ignorant casuals and resulting poor ratings for the movie.

Yeah... I don't buy that argument at all.

For starters, I don't think it's really that bad with the "casual fans". Even among casual fans, I think there is a decent level of penetration of the knowledge that Maul ain't dead and Anakin had an apprentice. Simply because of how many of their kids have watched TCW / Rebels, even if they themsleves haven't. The casual fans, or a large percentage of them, aren't as totally, utterly ignorant of everything outside the movies as some people assume.

Also, I think the ratio of "casual" to "more interested" fans isn't as bad as 99-1. (Or maybe I'm just being optimistic.)

Put Maul or Ahsoka in a movie, and it's going to be OK, people. It's not going to break the minds of fans, it's not going to discredit SW. This is an unfounded fear.

That's why I said small easter eggs like the flags in TFA, nothing really major like a character appearance. But we could see R1 characters appearing in Rebels, that's probably what they're going to do for a tie-in with the movie.

I wish I could like this post more than once. You summed it up great. I suspect that if they do plan on bringing Ahsoka's character into the post ROTJ era it will take place in novels. Which I am good with.

I would put it to the books that more people would be dumbounded by Maul's appearance in a feature film than Ahsoka. The last time most people saw Maul, he was cut in half by Obi-Wan. No matter how popular you want to suggest TCW was, even at its peak ratings wise it still paled in comparison to the movies' numbers. Ahsoka, on the other hand, could just be chalked up as a new character. Wouldn't be the first time SW would introduce a new character.

Agreed. Why would Ahsoka be any different to the ‘casual’ viewer than say Maz? Other than the ‘casual’ viewer wondering why half the theater is cheering at the appearance, I doubt there’d be a difference.

Yes but the Slugs and Toad like creatures were not the main character though. Even Yoda, who people loved from ESB, were laughing (and not in the good way) when he pulled out his little laser sword and went to town.

Just so there is no confusion. I'm not saying an Ahsoka spin-off wouldn't be good, I do, I just think it would be better to keep it as Animation rather than live action.
