The Confeds were mostly aliens. The Empirial sentiment drew from that start.

Wow...incredible insight...never would've guessed it could be something like that...

*the sociologist in my head just told me to take the rest of the day off...the world doesn't care.*

We also learned that Major Rahz's full name is "Stafuv Rahz". Come on, people... say that name aloud. It might have a familiar ring to it.

"Palpatine canonically doesn't care about species."

I've advocated that for a long, long time; its nice to see it canonized though. Palpatine doesn't care about any precept he adopts except using it to manipulate the people who DO care.

    "I love democracy."

After hearing him say that, why would anyone think he believed the Human High Culture he "advocates"?

Exactly, Senator_Cilghal. And whatever excuses people made, I always had a hard time buying the fact that a speciesest (sp?) would take another species (Maul) as an apprentice, no matter how close to human he may have been. Not to mention Palps had Ameeda as his right hand man for what, atleast 15 or so years?

I don't have Hyperspace, what exactly does it say on this matter?

and lets not forget Palps was trained by an alien. admittedly, he murdered him, but he still called him "Plagueis the Wise", not "Plagueis the Alien Scum."

Admittedly, I am impressed Palpatine is open-minded enough to NOT speciest. If I had grown up on the same planet as Jar Jar I might consider aliens inferior myself.

Palpy does consider aliens inferior - he just thinks humans are just as inferior. ;)

    Hmm...what will Part 2 bring?

Vengnar Heiff? If so, I demand that Abel be given a knighthood.

If not, he should just be given a knighthood anyway.

Actually, I assumed Palpatine's specism was the fact that he enjoyed humiliating and destroying aliens.

I imagine he enjoyed humiliating women the same way.

    And destroying the poor...

    And puppies...

    And non-force sensitives...

Not that he'd ever let it interfere with his agenda.

So what is the source for Imperial racism if it's not the Clone Wars?

Wasn't Heiff a human? Not that he couldn't be involved in some alien's backstory... I'm hoping for Dr. Raygar, Hissa, Trioculus (half-alien), and Sk'ar. :D

A nit-pick here: an explanation for Hoole and Gog's amazing morphing abilities is given; that they crossed their own genes with those of a Clawdite. Don't most Clawdites have pretty limited shapeshifting abilities as well?

I noticed this as well. Clawdites were restricted to mimicking humanoids, I believe.

I'm sure it could be explained---with no small amount of vagueness---that since the Clawdites' shapeshifting abilities appeared when they mutated, messing with their genes even more enabled some crazy stuff. Or something like that.

If Sk'ar doesn't show up, I'll eat my hat. On the same vein as Dr. Raygar...there's dozens of Ewok characters waiting to be referenced. [face_whistling] So what exactly is the deal with Suprema? Was he a senator from Shimholt? A war chieftain? It seems odd for some random alien to just become an Imperial advisor with no previous relation to the Senate or Chancellor Palpatine.

Oh, perhaps it's just the continuation of beliefs that Core worlders have held since time immemorial?

That makes far more sense than the always shaky "the Emperor made us hate" excuse.

Apparently, you live in an alternate universe where Chuck thinks the Core wasn't always a collection of rampaging bigots.

Ah, yes! I'd forgotten that Hieff himself actually appeared--I had vague memories of Han and co. posing as the Imperial torturers, but as it turns out, that was only over the comm.

Another good one to do would be Kosh Kurp, from the Jabba the Hutt comics.

Anyone want to inform dear Kaje that the Confed's principal leadership was exclusively alien? He seems to have missed the signatory scene in AOTC, where we saw them. While others followed, you saw a great deal of alien parties time and again over humans.

Regardless of how you want to interpret those scenes, Kaje is absolutely right that nothing of the sort is mentioned in the article.
