Aliens vs. Predator - The Movie

Shouldn't they have called it Aliens VS Predators? Or is there only one Predator in the movie?

 

Also, when the girl and the predator are leaving the pyramis and going to the surface, didn't they see an alien running up the tunnel? What happened to that one?

i think that was the queen running up the chute. that would make sense seeing as she was the only alien to survive the nuclear bomb.

yeah i liked that alien/predator thing popping out. could make a decent sequel.

 

whoa, where to start.

actually i think i will start the beginning. before the movie began, a kid asked his friend "who do you think will win?" it was an easy to an easy question. the first thought that came to my mind was "humans". i thought why not? why would the humans lose?

it seemed to me that the movie was cut in half. it moved to fast. and the fights, nothing i have not seen before.

 

We all seem to agree it was a bit quick. The Alien, in the first film, took awhile to die and fall of, and the chest burster also took a little while to come out.
Here, facehug, chest burts, get big, attack everything, all within a short time.

The original Alien film had the creature grow somewhat quick, quick enough for it to be a urprise from small to huge.

 

I have to say i really liked this movie. I knew going in there was no way it'd be better then Aliens and Predator.

But it was really good. i liked how they tide the two aliens together in one movie and made it work. Its a sequal to the predator movies but pre-equal to the alien movies.

Only a few things bothered me. the predators died to the aliens to fast. I can understand the first predator dying to the alien. Fine give it to the alien, but then we get another alien vs predator fight and the alien wins again. the main predator kills a alien with his disk which was cool, but those first 2 predators should of killed a few aliens before they died.

They never got a chance to kill one. I thought 1 predator equal like 5 aliens.

Plus in this movie the predators vision changed. In predator he sees humans body heat with everything in the background blue and they human looks yellow/red/orange. In this movie he see everything in red with yellow. (this is fine since this take place after the first predator so this could mean that the predator just has better technology now.)

but overall i like this movie.

id say Aliens>Predator>Alien>AVP>and the rest.

Yeah the technology for the Preds in this clan is a lot more advanced so the vision looks a lot different.

I really enjoyed this movie. Too bad it wasnt more gorey and violent. Paul Anderson did an Ok job to say the least. It could have been waaaaaaaay better but you know thats neither here nor there. I just was glad to see my two fav franchises finally clash after years of waiting.

I guess another reason I thought this movie should have been more violent is because I am so used to playing the PC game that I am desensitized to potential Alien and Pred violence.

 

This is the first movie I've seen this year that actually lived up (and surpassed) my expectations.

It would seem that the general concessus is that the movie was a bit too brief (both in certain scenes and in overall length). I would agree, but hopefully Anderson will include a Director's Cut once the DVD comes out.

 

..i keep hearing talk that an R-rated director's cut DVD is on the way...

It was alright, wouldn't watch it again until it come on cable though.

I thought the aliens were well done. The predators did not look that great to me, they were not as fluid in movement as Kevin Peter Halls Predator. They didn't look like they could outrun you like Kevin's Predator. Also they looked like guys in suits to me.

Plus the face of the Predator's didn't look as menacing as the first and second Predator's.

Also when the predator takes off his mask in the first one his vision is just like the heat vision from AvP when he has the mask on.

Only thing I missed is that distinctful swooshing sound the Predators machinary makes, and the heartbeat thumping sound when you see his point of view.

 

I saw the movie. all i gotta say is that the black chick runied that movie.

I saw it. I really liked the subtle things, like for example: You see Charles Weyland sitting at a computer. Then you see a quick shot of him tapping his pen between his fingers, ala Bishop and the combat knife in Aliens. I loved that.

The Alien vs Predator combat was really anticlimatic. This movie truned the Predators from the intimdating hunters they are, into utter pansies. In the "Making Of" special, they say that the Predators are decked out in battle armor, so they can take more punsihment from the Aliens. Pfft. A lot of good it gave them. It's the same concept of Starship Troopers. The "armor" is worthless; the characters might as well go into battle nude.

Also, the "Scar" predator. He was... for lack of a better word, also anti-climatic.

Lex, the main character, AKA Ripley wannabe. Man, I was really hoping she would die. Like, painfully. Maybe being killed via chestburster while simultaneously having her spine removed by a Predator. Ok, maybe I'm going a bit too far. It wouldn't have been so bad if she didn't try to "talk" to the Predator. What an idiot.

"What are you doing?"
"[incoherent Pred speak]"
Predator translation: I would tell you if I could speak English, dumbass.

They seemed to focus on the Aliens. The Aliens look VERY good. The Predators, on the other hand, were reminscent of the guys in suits at Disneyland.

On a side note, the ending was very rushed. (Hell, the movie OK until the Predator teams up with annoying Ripley-wannabe)

 

1. The opening shot of the satellite which looked like an Alien Queen at first.
Yeah, I was delighted that we were going to see the queen right away. And then I noticed the boxy thing on her head...********!

2. I thought it interesting that the first tangle between an Alien and a Pred ended with the Alien killing the Pred. Yeah, I was for-sure the Pred was going to win. Guess I was wrong.

3. I like the flashback scene showing the Preds worshipped as gods, and the explanation of ancient history. Yeah, the scene where the 3 Preds are getting overrun was awesome. We need a movie about this!

4. The fighting skill level of the Preds was done really well. Ayuh...

5. I like the boomerang like device that reminded me of the Glaive from the movie Krull.

6. The animation of the Queen Alien was cool, I just wish we could have had more of it. Yes, She reminded me of JP's T-Rex a lot here. Awesome scene.

The slo-mo of the facehuggers going after their victims was cool.

A point about the quickness: Perhaps it has to do with these being "fresh" eggs? The ones from Alien were quite old, it seems; perhaps that's why it took so long for Kane to hatch. In the Aliens novelization, Burke isn't killed, he's captured; Ripley finds him infected & conscious-and about to burst less then twenty minutes later in the atmosphere processor.

Just saw the movie, I'd give it 7 out of 10. Should of had some more Alien on Predator action. I didn't like the armor look of the Predator's too much. I didn like how the Predator made a shield and spear for Lex out of the Alien head an tail though.

 

Yeah, I like the old-school Pred mask more myself, although the animalistic ones aren't new either; you can see a Pred wearing one at the end of Predator II.
As for more Alien/Pred action, read the first book of the Aliens vs. Predator novel trilogy. Whoa.

 

I'm seeing this movie in 2 hours. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm still stoked to see it.

I thought the movie was pretty boring. There was no high point in it. I think the only good thing about the movie was the fight scenes, and those were only ok. I really liked the whole Predators helping humans and being worshipped in the past thing, I absolutly hated when Predator teamed up with black chick. Ruined the whole movie for me. They made Predator seem like some little pansy that ran 2 miles and hour. It was too rushed, it could have been better if it was atleast 2-2 1/2 hours.

C'mon, look at the title of the movie:

Alien vs. Predator.

This is not a movie that's going to have a lot of depth to it practically by default. It's a survival situation, no more, no less. It's like demanding the original Predator be 21/2 hours long. No way it can work-it'd start to get monotonous. This is why the film is set up the way it is-when you have a film that's about ferocious aliens from outer space hunting people down in a pyramid under the ice, people go expecting action, and lots of it. I've seen SF movies based on character development; they're called Star Trek movies. No thanks.

 

Saw it yesterday. They should have followed the humans for the first 45 minutes or so and then pulled a twist and had them all dead, leaving the movie as a straight out Alien vs. Predator deal.

 

It could have been done better I think. A little more suspense here or there, have the Pred pick up the mountain climber and run while carrying her, or maybe look like he dies inside the temple while she uses some of his weapons to escape then he saves her at the last minute from the Queen.

I did like it, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. There is enough that I like about it that I will own it on dvd.
