    What is mando'a for 'bastion'?

Also how would you say "Vaytus' fall"? Just to be clear: Vaytus is a name

One more: can you say 'nighted' in mando'a?

have done. There is no official word for 'bastion', I guess I should have asked "do anybody have a canon word for 'bastion'"

Regarding my "Vaytus' fall" an "nighted" question so have I studied languages enough to know that my mando'a understanding is non existing, therefore I ask for translations help

Stupid autocorrect, it's supposed to be 'fanon' not 'canon'

For bastion you could use bral, which is a hill fort or defensive position on high ground or you could use kranek which is a fortified position or settlement with a moat (surrounded by water).

Let's keep in mind the friendly spirit behind the thread, yeah? Besides, things aren't exactly the most active at the moment. It can't hurt to take a moment or two to answer a fairly simple question.

Morut is the word you're looking for.

You could use the possessive be- prefix"be'vaytus trattok"—or the more informal, owner-object structure of "Vaytus'trattok." Either communicates the same meaning, it just depends on the speaker/writer's preference.

I would probably use something like ca'gotal.

I find it kind of tricky, personally, becauseaside from Mandalore itselfmost of the sector hasn't really been given anywhere near the kind of in-depth exploration as I'd like in either canon. But, looking at what we do have on the books and working off of that, let's see what the inhabited worlds of the sector have to offer...

We know from the Guide to Warfare that Breshig was an industrial center during the Mandalorian Wars, but that the ships that were manufactured there were built using resources taken from Foerost and Abhean. That suggests to me that Breshig isn't particularly resource rich on its own, and considering the only other thing we've heard about Breshig during the reign of the Empire was the continuing existence of the native trill beasts, I think it's fairly likely they ceased to be a Mandalorian industrial giant after the spoils of war eventually dried up. Whether there's a Detroit-like society still persisting in and around what remains of that old manufacturing infrastructure, forging ahead as best they can...[face_dunno]...but I'd like to imagine there is.

Gas giant worlds like Bonagal and Shukut would likely be mined for precious gasses. Scum and Villainy tells us that Shukut is also Ketsu Onyo's homeworld, suggesting there's still at least some sort of Mandalorian presence there during Imperial times. Until or unless we're told otherwise, I like to imagine she grew up on a station not unlike Cloud City before going off to the academy. We never really get anything about either world's numerous moons, which feels like both a missed opportunity and a lot of untapped potential. And speaking of moons, aside from Death Watch's temporary encampment there, Zanbar seems to be in similar straights, though it's entirely possible there's a lot more going on elsewhere on the swampy moon that we just haven't seen.

Not a lot's known about Draboon, but we know that it's populated, and not just by pesky venom-mites that like to attack errant Padawans and duchesses. Obi-Wan and Satine sought refuge on the planet during the chaos surrounding the Great Clan wars, and we know that Draboon is a notable exporter of fine lapis. To me, those points indicate a significant population living there, but we don't really have any details beyond thatsave one, which I'll come back to later.* Similar to Draboon, Harswee is known to us largely due to what it manufactures: luxurious, loom-woven carpets, considered to be the finest in all of Mandalorian Space. Likely tapestries, too. And apparently the tradition was such an integral part of Mandalorian life on Harswee that their most well known son, Mandalore the Binder, bore his title in honor of his origins as a rug-weaver's kid. That's...pretty huge, in my opinion, and contributes to a vaguely old-fashioned Persian/Turkish vibe in my mind.

As one of the worlds that had its own native population long before the Taung arrived, Jakelia is a pretty interesting case. According to the Guide to Warfare, they welcomed the early Mandalorians and quickly became eager convertsthousands of years later, Jakelia is still a Mandalorian world, but instead of supplying troops to the Neo-Crusaders, they're exporting shipments of tuft-wood. After all those millennia, I'd be very interested to see what shape modern society on Jakelia's taken, and how much of the original, native Jakelian culture remains alongside Mandalorian tradition. Did they integrate belief systems? Did one subsume the other? Has there been a resurgence of the older ways among newer generations?

Given that Cheravh is described as a dump incapable of sustaining even a moderately-sized clan like the Skiratas without significant supply imports, the likes of which would be enough to raise a few curious eyebrows, I don't think there's a lot going on there worthy of note. Vorpa'ya is also fairly straight forward: covered in vast grass plains, it's a nerf farmer's paradise. Too much of one, in fact, and circa 25 ABY it's been overgrazed to the point that just landing a ship there kicks up a minor dust storm. Then there's Ordo. Another populated but largely underdeveloped world, canonically speaking, all we really know about Ordo is that it's largely barren with some vegetation around the equator, and the homeworld of Clan Ordo. All three worlds conjure images of hardened frontierscape, wind-blown steppes, livestock countrysome nebulous mix of the American west and rural Mongolia. Interestingly, despite both being Mandalorian worlds, Ordo and Krownest seem to possess some manner of distrust or even animosity toward one another during the Empire's reign, as each planet is said in Scum and Villainy to have suspected the other in the theft of ancient Mandalorian relics from Ordo's Archaic Arsenal and Krownest's Scabbard Monument.

Krownest is another world where there's not really a lot known about it, just Clan Wren's position there, both literally and figuratively. I will say that while I've never really loved the look of Sundari's glassy buildings, something about the wintry conditions of Krownest make that style of architecture look so much more appealing to me. Maybe it's that it just fits the cold aesthetic better. I'd love to see more of the planet, and more of its people outside of the Wrens. Kalevala is also sorely underdeveloped, but it shows a lot of potential. Despite its toxic desertsthat may or may not be as big as once intended—we know they produce rich fabrics, fine wine, and unique hairstyles. We've seen their eccentric ship designs, and we've seen their unique armor styles. I'd really like to see what the actual society of Kalevala is like when it's not being viewed though the lens of Satine; how does the rest of Clan Kryze live? Is it a complete New Mandalorian stronghold, or are there warrior clan Mandalorians living there as well?

Now, this gets to the really interesting stuff: planets that are in the Mandalore sector, but aren't necessarily Mandalorian. For one, Gargon doesn't appear to have any strong connection to the Mandalorian people. Phindar, a world resting on the border between the Mandalore and Demetras sectors, is likewise un-Mandalorian by all accounts, though I wouldn't be surprised to find a fair few Phindians walking around in beskar'gam. Mandallia is nominally a Mandalorian world, but I think it's probably fairer to say that by the time of the Empire's rise, Mandalorians share it with the native Mandallian Giants, since it's been shown fairly often that there are numerous Mandallians who don't subscribe to Mandalorian culture. Similarly, Concord Dawn is often described as a Mandalorian colony, but given that canons new and old have depicted both Mandalorian and non-Mandalorian individuals who call Dawn their home, I prefer to tip my hat toward Fantasy Flight Games' take of it being a mostly independent protectorate of Mandaloresome Mandos live there, yeah, but it's got an independent governor, along with its own laws and police force.

    * Picking up the point I set aside before: Mandalore, Kalevala, Jakelia, Harswee, Vorpa'ya, and Draboon all show evidence of an interstellar trade economy between the worlds of the Mandalore sector. Drabooni lapis, carpeting from Harswee, beskar from Mandalore, and Jakelian tuft-wood all went into the Kalevalan staryacht, Coronet. Nerf meat from Vorpa'ya landed on Mandalore's shelves. MandalMotors' ships, and beskar from Manda'yaim or orbiting Concordia, could all be found employed throughout Mandalorian space. This opens the strong likelihood that you'd be able to find quench-gourds and Kalevalan wine just as easily in a Keldabe market as you would a Harsween tapestry in a bazaar on Krownest.

As member of the House of Kryze, i see both points of view., @E.L. Knight is right that we should make discoveries and research for ourselves, but @Mia Mesharad is correct that we should not discourage questions, and those who ask for aid in learnng Mando’a or other Mando lore.

    Thanks :)

    Thanks :)
Which one of Vaytus'trattok and be'vaytus trattok would you say fits best as a planet name?

    Thanks :)

How is this information stated in Guide to Warfare? Wondering because the Wook' don't mention that and I have built up some fanon around that Breshig mined at east some of their resources at home.

Shukut probably has both cloud-cities, and bases on the moons - either to gather resources or as defence systems, if not both.

    Cool. I like that idea.

A possibility is that they are only trade partners with the Mandalorian culture worlds by the movies-era, having left the Mandalorian culture/political sphere sometime between the Neo-Crusaders era and the now.

    Or that's what they want you to think [face_thinking] ]-}

    8-}

My money is that Ordo is a cold dessert world, with the equatorial region being the part of the world where its war enough for vegetation to grew.

Since the first modern depiction of the Madalorians, Jango Fett: Open Seasons, have them fighting a civil war so do that seem very believable.

It could be that the population lives in arcologies.

Also, because Kalevala is a reference to the Finnish national epos by the same name do I suggest that people look at the Finnish language when it comes to inspiration for words that mando'a lacks.

Just wondering: eccentric compared to what? The Nagai, the Mon Calamaries?

Where is it mentioned that the royal guard armour is from Kalevala?

I have to say that in my fanon so is the Mandallia of the Mandaorian system not the same Mandallia from where Mandallian Giants come from, since we have seen around one Mandallian Giant who is a mando. If the Mandallian Giants home word was in the system so do it feel that we would have seen more of them in the armour.

    No problem, happy to help.

Hmm... Well, looking at the way Manda'yaim is formatted, and considering it's understood to mean either "Mand'alor's home" or "Mandalorians' home," I think Vaytus'trattok would be a better fit for a planet named Vaytus' Fall.

In the "War and the Mandalorians" section, on page...36, it looks like, we get: "The Mandalorians were rapidly building warships at Breshig and Arda, utilizing vast caches of war materiel stolen during the Sith Wars from Foerost and Abhean."

There's nothing that really says Breshig absolutely doesn't have any resources of its own, I was just extrapolating from that minor scrap and the fact that other sources never seem to really touch on Breshig in later eras, suggesting that it seems to have lost whatever prominence it once had.

    Agreed, both seem pretty likely.

Ehh...it's possible, I suppose. With so little information, the exact nature of the situation could go a variety of different ways, but the TCW Incredible Vehicles guide does specifically call Jakelia a Mandalorian world circa the Clone Wars. I'm inclined to think there's some stronger ties there than just friendly trade relations. Roche, for instance, is a pretty notable trade partner of Mandalore during the Legacy era, but no one was calling it Mandalorian territory.

Sounds entirely plausible, as far as I'm aware.

Mainly just compared to what was coming out of MandalMotors during the same time. Kalevala Spaceworks seems to have a design aesthetic that's noticeably distinct from it's presumably largest Mandalorian competitor.

Good catch. It actually hasn't been explicitly identified as Kalevalan, but I feel like there are a lot of visual cues shared between Satine's attirewhich has been ID'd as Kalevalanthe Royal Guard's armor, and the Kalevalan tracker helmet Weazel wears in Solo. Enough to make it very likely, in my opinion, that they're an import from Kalevala.

I'm generally an Occam's Razor sort of girl, and putting the Giants on a different world when every other source says Mandallia is Mandalore's neighbor just seems unnecessary to me, I guess. Besides, between these Mandallian Neo-Crusaders, Feskitt Bobb, and the Giants at Boba Fett's 40 ABY clan meeting, there's enough multi-era representation to suggest to me an ongoing relationship between Mandallia and the Mandalorian culture.

Something I thought about while working is that since we know of Rebels and pirates that has established bases on many words without being noticed must there be something worthy of note there since they said that people would notice if they imported what they needed to Cheravh.

But can really MandalMotors be said to have an design aesthetic? Since more or less each of their ship models seems to follow a different design.

I did not mean to imply that the Mandallia Giants homeworld is not a part of Madalorian space, just that I don't place it in the same sun system.
