I like very much Padme and Anakin relationship.
However, I think that Anakin was the one that was right with his anger towards Padme.
Think about it..... He had a dream about Padme just like his mother's dream before she died. So it would happen the same thing with Padme.
And she comes with this stupid conversation that all she wants is Anakin's love, forgetting that Anakin is a jedi, basically a warrior of the Galaxy and has to deal with lots of problems. She doesn't understand that only into the Dark Side Anakin can save other people from death. Which I agree with Anakin.
She says she loves him. If that was true, she would be Anakin's wife, even Anakin into the Dark Side. So yeah, she's basically a liar.

I've been a fan for a long time and yes, I do find it a bit unfair how they are treated by critics and even some fans of the PT.

Still, I think they were meant to be together.

I always loved their relationship. In fact the main reason I dislike Episode 3 was the tragic conclusion of their relationship (which, of course, I knew was coming :p ). Throughout most of their time together, they are wonderful together... As a teenager I always hoped to find someone like Padmé and have that kind of relationship myself, and I suppose I still do. Maybe one day. *sigh*

Their relationship and the beginnings of darkness in Ani make Episode 2 my favorite film, well, and Anakin and Obi-Wan's master/apprentice shenanigans, but that's beside the point. I have not seen the Clone Wars series, so I've got no comment on the Anakin/Padmé relationship in it, but once I have seen it, I'll be sure to comment at such a time.

In the meantime, I love them and hate how it had to end, even though I like it also because I'm a masochist and it makes the story progress. </3

In this thread, we may revel in the glory of Matthew Stover's amazing writing to explain Anakin and Padme, and if anyone's like, but I don't get why she loves him, send them here:

    This is Padme Amidala:

She is an astonishingly accomplished young woman, who in her short life has been already the youngest-ever elected Queen of her planet, a daring partisan guerrilla, and a measured, articulate, and persuasive voice of reason in the Republic Senate.

But she is, at this moment, none of these things.

.She can still play at them—she pretends to be a Senator, she still wields the moral authority of a former Queen, and she is not shy about using her reputation for fierce physical
courage to her advantage in political debate—but her inmost reality, the most fundamental, unbreakable core of her being, is something entirely different.

    She is Anakin Skywalker's wife.

Yet wife is a word too weak to carry the truth of her; wife is such a small word, such a common word, a word that can come from a downturned mouth with so many petty,
unpleasant echoes. For Padme Amidala, saying 1 am Anakin Skywalker's wife is saving neither more nor less than I am alive.

Her life before Anakin belonged to someone else, some lesser being to be pitied, some poor impoverished spirit who could never suspect how profoundly life should be lived.

Her real life began the first time she looked into Anakin Sky-walker's eyes and found in there not the uncritical worship of little Annie from Tatooine, but the direct, unashamed, smoldering passion of a powerful Jedi: a young man, to be sure, but every centimeter a man—a man whose legend was already growing within the Jedi Order and beyond. A man who knew exactly what he wanted and was honest enough to simply ask for it; a man strong enough to unroll his deepest feelings before her without fear and without shame. A man who had loved her for a decade, with faithful and patient heart, while he waited for the act of destiny he was sure would someday open her own heart to the fire in his.

But though she loves her husband without reservation, love does not blind her to his faults. She is older than he, and wise enough to understand him better than he does himself. He is not a perfect man: he is prideful, and moody, and quick to anger— but these faults only make her love him the more, for his every flaw is more than balanced by the greatness within him, his capacity for joy and cleansing laughter, his extraordinary generosity of spirit, his passionate devotion not only to her but also in the service of every living being.

He is a wild creature who has come gently to her hand, a vine tiger purring against her cheek. Every softness of his touch, every kind glance or loving word is a small miracle in itself. How can she not be grateful for such gifts?

This is why she will not allow their marriage to become public knowledge. Her husband needs to be a Jedi. Saving people is what he was born for; to take that away from him would cripple every good thing in his troubled heart.

Now she holds him in their infinite kiss with both arms tight around his neck, because there is a cold dread in the center of her heart that whispers this kiss is not infinite at all, that it's only a pause in the headlong rush of the universe, and when it ends, she will have to face the future.

    And she is terrified.

Because while he has been away, everything has changed.

Today, here in the hallway of the Senate Office Building, she brings him news of a gift they have given each other—a gift of joy, and of terror. This gift is the edge of a knife that has already cut their past from their future.

For these long years they have held each other only in secret, only in moments stolen from the business of the Republic and the war; their love has been the perfect refuge, a long quiet afternoon, warm and sunny, sealed away from fear and doubt, from duty and from danger. But now she carries within her a planetary terminator that will end their warm afternoon forever and leave them blind in the oncoming night.

She is more, now, than Anakin Skywalker's wife.

She is the mother of Anakin Skywalker's unborn child.

I think that everyone here will appreciate the following video:

I really like the portrayal of their love. It's operatic in all its tragic glory. And Across the Stars is possibly my favourite SW music. So yeah, count me in!

Their story is so important to the saga and future events, his passionate love for her made it so that he could not be completely free of emotions like jedis are trained to be. It was the the start of Anakins passage to the dark side. Loved the story!

They're one of my favorite things about the prequel. I wish there were more couple scenes with them in episode 3!! [face_sigh]

On that note though, I think episode 2 focused more on them getting together that unless you watch the clone wars series you barely see anything about their married life.

On another note. Sometimes I doubt their love because of Anakin force choking her. I get it that he was upset, but he did that to his pregnant wife. It's the only thing that confuses me about their love maybe not being that strong.

Anakin was pretty drunk on the Dark Side at that point. He was very angry and thought she had betrayed him. Which I am not saying that makes it okay. Also it's not the first he hurt one of his loved ones, Vader cut off his own son's hand!

I absolutely love this quote! It illustrates Padmè's position in Episode III perfectly..never understood why her wanting to be wife is so left field for some, even after the deleted AOTC came out, where she clearly states to Anakin that she wants a family.

Anyway, I love these two! Will never forgive what TCW did with them!

Videos like this make me sad that they don't have proper media and it has taken this long for the little out there..

What do you guys think of the Reylo camp compering them? It annoys me personally.

Anakin and Padme are my favorite couple in Star Wars! [face_love]

Very beautiful couple, gentle, light and pleasant. @};-@};-@};-

Although it seems to me that their love popped up so unexpectedly, after so many years of separation after the first meeting... But that's okay, I'm not a relationship expert, heh. I really feel sorry for these two, so sad, so dramatic and tragic they all ended... Their theme song - "Across the stars" - just great, fascinating music! I especially like the scenes with Anakin and Padme on Naboo, in the lake retreat. Padme has such a beautiful dress there, and the place is just beautiful.

I've always wondered, if Padme had survived, what would have happened? What would Anakin/Vader do? Leave the Emperor, I'm sure. But... would Padme need a husband like this? This is for the fans (and not all) Vader is cool and colorful, but for Padme this character is a monster, the embodiment of the black terror...

Yeah, I love them too! If you think about it, the suddenness of their romance does make sense. Padmé made a huge impression on Anakin as a child, so he's always been kinda obsessed with her ever since, and he hasn't been socialised very well... and Padmé has spent all her life with these immense expectations thrust upon her, very little time to live a normal childhood, and no-one around to give her relationship advice or anything. For both of them, this is the first real, uninhibited contact they've had with another human being who is interested in them for who they are, and not for what they represent.

And yessss the music ahhhhhhhhh!! words cannot express how great it is

I wonder. I think if she had survived, Bail et al. would have tried to keep her secret and safe (like Frodo and the ring lol), so maybe Anakin wouldn't have known.

Padme fell for her bodyguard! When 2 young, great looking people are in close proximity like they were, for as long as they were, they're going to ignite the screen, eventually.

The truth is in your words. I wonder what would happen if Padme was corny ugly? I think this whole amazing story would have never happened... It's sad to realize that...

In a STAR WARS movie, only the evil people get to be ugly: The Emperor, Jabba, Snoke ...

Star Wars is not as fairy-tale as it may seem... Please note that Palpatine and Snoke become so due to an overdose of the Dark Side, and Jabba is not a human... Be honest with yourself - do you think, if Padme was ugly, would Anakin love her, would he tell her about an angel? No...

Padmé Amidala looking exactly like Natalie Portman probably did a lot to capture Anakin's interest ... and hold it!

Haha! Alright, fine ... Anakin found it easy to love Padmé because she was beautiful.
And had she looked anything like Eleanor Roosevelt, well ... there's just no way that
Luke & Leia would've had any hope of being conceived. None, at all. But as things are ...

I'm not being snide, don't think... It's just a sad truth, and you confirmed it in the end. Anyway, it's a good thing they're a beautiful couple and had their cool kids.

Theirs is the romance that changed the galaxy far, far away ...
try to focus on that aspect of it. While it lasted, they embodied
love on a scope that can only be realized in motion pictures.
I'm not big on sappy romance movies, myself, but ... I believed!

Once long ago we had big epic fanboards for these 2 here, I'm glad to see the thread reborn again.

I'm watching Clone Wars for the first time and am reminded yet again why I love these two so much, and how much I hate the Emperor for poisoning our hero into betraying everything he loved and believed in.
