He was also great in Life As A House and good in some bad movies like Awake and Jumper. I haven't seen a movie of his in years though.
I've only seen two of his movies (the titles of which should be self-explanatory), and even then I liked him; he did play the role of my favorite character after all. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk
Yes I like Life As A House also. Jumper was fun we get to see Mace and Anakin reunite. I saw Takers and Factory Girl in the theatre.
Funny, I actually saw a copy of Jumper on Blu Ray at Dollar General the other day. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk
Maybe this will help kind of jump start his career. There was an article from a couple of years ago about why he took a break from acting for several years. He's done 2 films recently so hopefully there will be more to come, starting with Star Wars.
I think Anakin had always had a strained relationship with the Jedi Council, especially Mace Windu, since they initially refused to train him as a child in TPM. This issue became exacerbated when Anakin, who had grown up with his mother was unable to fit in with the Order's strict no-attachment rules. The fact that he had been a slave was also a factor, (he has refer to his Jedi elders as 'master') in building his resentment to the oligarchy of the High Council. Although technically free, he was still in many ways the servant of others. Spoiler: Obi-wan & Anakin comic Also, I think the council genuinely feared Anakin's power, and his potential in The Force. But I digress, I do think that scene is the one where the strained relationship between Anakin and the council really starts to fracture.
I remember Hayden getting a Golden Globe and SAG nomination for Life As A House. Great reviews for Shattered Glass as well. Many feel SW ruined that for him and showed he couldn't act. It's a shame because I think he is good. He has never said a bad word about SW and really seems to love having been in them. I always appreciated that. Hopefully we start to see more of him.
It's like there's enough of a gap now that he, and Natalie, can chat about the movies without any negative stuff. The Prequels are now part of"nostalgia".
Natalie can only appear via Skype this year for obvious reasons. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk
Am I the only one who hates PT guilty apologists? I just read someone say "Hayden was disappointed and hated AOTC and ROTS. I bet he's happy to be redeemed" or "Hayden wasnt the problem. George ruined the prequels. Leave him alone!" PT fans who do this are cornballs and just as bad as people who absolutely hate them imo.
I hate that everyone needs to qualify their feelings on the prequels to not upset fans who have opposing opinions. This goes both ways. I do it myself but its so silly. Natalie appearing via Skype or recorded message would be neat though . Hell, I'd love it if actors from every era were to do a retrospective documentary or something for May 25 or something. There's something about seeing all three major eras of SW films come together that make it feel like a proper epic, you know? I guess that's why I'd love for Hayden to show up as a force ghost in TLJ. He's really the only one that would make sense for it.
Agree. I am OK with people not liking them but, if someone does like them, they shouldn't feel like they have to give a compliment and scathe at the same time. You're right. Best to drop it.
I think it's great that Hayden's appearance has sold out, but I'm not sure why people leap to the conclusion that that means most SW fans love him, want to see him in more movies, or that most of movie going public wants more of him. First, he hasn't appeared much at these events, correct? There's a demand that's been built up to see him for some fans. Second, is it really that strange for an event with a lead from SW to sell out? Events with side characters probably sell out. I also notice that a lot of interest from fans in this thread have to do with the actor's looks, not necessarily his performance in previous films. So selling out for this event really doesn't tell us much at all about real demand for him to return to the series. I don't see any huge grassroots fan campaigns begging LFL for more Hayden. If demand was really as great as some in here say, then why doesn't it translate into concrete, measurable action?
Agree. The scene when Padme tells Anakin she is pregnant is a prime example. You saw every emotion cross his face before he finally smiled and said he was happy. I believe he was but his first reaction said it all.
Allow me to take a different approach with regards to PT haters instead of being a "guilty apologist". Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk
Padme: "Anni, I'm pregnant." Anakin:"eh what? I've gone for 3 years...." it's why he reacted the way he did. Then he just thought that all children are born the same manner he was. Which is why he goes like it's wonderful.
I think we will see Hayden in one scene in Episode 9. Anakin's ghost somehow appears to Kylo Ren. Would be amazing to see IMO. Perhaps with Carrie's passing, Anakin's spirit delivers to Kylo some of the dialog/points that Kylo's mother would have, had they had a confrontational scene with each other.
Aren't we being a little dramatic? People haven't just been talking about his looks, if you stuck around for this thread, then you'd KNOW that's not the case. In addition, why would there be grassroots campaigns for an actor to come back? And more importantly, I seriously doubt LFL casts to said demand and campaigns. These films shouldn't work like that. Social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. to his announcement have been incredibly positive. You've been pretty cynical on this thread, and I'm not holding that against you. However, I don't understand what would constitute as "concrete action". Episode 8 is concrete as it could be, which obviously hasn't come out yet. Having Hayden in this event doesn't confirm anything, but it's undoubtedly BIG, especially for him. There's been more evidence that Hayden has been in touch with Disney than not.
