All good. How you've done it has been the least of our problems. But, left to run amok, people post 4-6 in a row, necro-quoting old posts and basically talking to no one but themselves for half a page at a time.
I don't mind Hayden being in ROTJ. I do mind the way LFL half-assed it though, by ONLY replacing Anakin's head. I can understand if George says now that I made these prequels and we know what Ani looks like, let's replace Shaw. Ok...well how about those robes too, then?? Long Hair Anakin wore different clothing. What sense does it make to use Hayden's face but not an outfit he actually wore?
There are good arguments both ways regarding the Hayden/Shaw/Anakin/Vader/Force Ghost issue, but at the end of the day, for me personally, i consider Hayden to be the real Anakin.....and James Earl Jones to be Vader. Both Shaw and Prowse, and no disrespect intended, never even factored into the equation for me ever.
Why is this thread even up? I chuckle everytime its on the main page. Hayden Christensen in Episode VII. Really?
To me, Shaw is definitely Vader in terms of the reveal in the throne room. I'll admit that I find Christensen more emotionally satisfying as force ghost Anakin in the closing shot, even if there are some logical issues with it. This is SW, and theme and story come before logic, but I understand others disagree and have solid arguments to back that up. This is why I favor both the SE and OOT being available. People can watch what they like (which in my case is both). I find the recent rumour about Christensen getting "training" for VIII to be total nonsense, but time will tell.
Hayden Christensen isn't a terrible actor, Natalie Portman couldn't find work of any kind for years after the prequels, but she's gone on to become an academy award winning actress. If Darth Vader is truly the source of Kylo's obsessions as rumors suggest, it makes sense the would include him in episode VIII.
Portman's first Oscar nomination was for Closer which came out in 2004, while the PT was still going. She was always taken seriously as an actress outside of SW, as was McGregor.
This may be nothing, but here's a rumor from today about Hayden possibly appearing in Episode VIII: http://makingstarwars.net/2015/09/two-rumors-about-darth-vader-in-future-star-wars-films/
I really hope it's true. I loved Hayden as Anakin, and find him to be a badass Jedi and Sith. He can pull off the smart ass and fun Anakin with no problem, as evident by the opening of ROTS, and his mission to Mustafar and slaughtering the Separatists remains one of my favorite SW moments, mainly due to how awesome Anakin is in that scene. I think it probably is true. For continuity's sake, they'll use Hayden.
You know I was thinking.... Star Wars has a long history of recycling old ideas. Obi Wan was supposed to come back to life in the ROTJ finale.... What if now it's it's Hayden who comes back to life in VIII or IX?
Anakin is, speaking of canon, the only Jedi to go from the light side to the dark side and back again, correct? Regardless, he's the only Jedi to return from the dark side to the light, die and reappear as a Force Ghost. So, given the fact that he's the only one who's done it, it's kind of ridiculous for people to argue that it makes no sense for Anakin to appear as his younger, pre-evil self when he's a spirit. There's no precedent to judge against. He's the first! It can therefore be however Lucas wanted it.
I wouldn't give to much credit to that rumour, why would a team fly to the US to train HC? Its that bit that casts doubt on the whole article i'm afraid.
Someone's obviously got some lines crossed. Either Hayden will appear as a ghost or he'll reprise his role as Vader in Rogue One and someone thought it was Episode 8. It's not like it's the first time that has happened (people thought they were going back to Skellig to film scenes from TFA when they were actually filming Ep8).
Why would they hire Hayden Christensen to play Vader in full armor and mask when no one will even know he is under there unless you bother to read the credits at the end of the movie? Makes zero sense. I know they used him for that in ROTS, but on that movie he was already playing the human Anakin and it was just easier for George to ask him to put on the suit at the very end of principle photography. Trust me, if this IS true that Hayden is in VIII, then he will either be appearing as a force ghost or Anakin will literally be resurrected in the flesh and will be fighting. No reason to specifically bring Hayden back otherwise. For one, he is too short to be in the suit. In ROTS I believe he had to wear some sort of boots that elevated his height when he was in the Vader suit. They might as well hire a guy with a similar build and height to Prowse to just walk around in the suit. Sent from my SM-N910P using Tapatalk
