Sunglasses that are really wide apart because eyestalks, or individual lenses? Do they steal the sunglasses off of visitors who crash land onto Lehon and modify? Is this something Rakata used to do as a pastime back in the day during the Infinite Empire? Are there blueprints for Rakata-specific sunglasses? Should Rakatan sunglasses be something someone finds in SWTOR like the Rakata eating utensils? "You've found a pair of Rakatan sunglasses. Completely useless for sun protection unless you have eyes on the sides of your head."
I want to know more about the Kwa why they evolved into Reptiles without intelligence during 32-31 BBY?
Not forced, they devolved themselves like the Sharu did, but if using Sharu tech, where are their Life crystals and return to power option safeguards like the Sharu had and employed? Guess Dathomir's Sith-History stripmined the planet of those crystals for red lightsabers... oops. Sith living on dying Kwa is dark but interesting. Befits Dathomirs gloomy scenery and mists as well kinda. Restless spirits of a betrayed race with a stolen future.
Before linking Abeloth to Mortis, FOTJ was strongly hinting that she was related to the Destructors, who emerged every few eons to return the galaxy to a more primitive state. Perhaps the writers were originally planning on revealing that it was in fact the Destructors and not the Celestials who had forced all those ancient higher species to abandon their civilization and devolve. That’s similar to what we still got in the end, but I’m not sure the books ended up making that link solid, leaving the Celestials still as the cause behind that devolution.
That's part of the reason I go with forced rather than chose. The Toka were in possession of the means of returning, whereas the Kwi were not. ETA: Also, "based on Sharu technology" is more accurately what I am thinking, rather than necessarily being Sharu technology EXACTLY.
Were the Kwa the first to Travel in the Galaxy why do they give that honor to the Rakata? maybe the Celestials were the first
Given Star Wars exists both in the year 3000 (1976 ad said as much) AND in a galaxy far, far away, a long time ago, and as per Alien Exodus time is a circle, going back to before Celestials etc. means going into our future... which means, the THX future, which would seem like Silentium and Abominor existed before Celestials... and before them... we did. Before and after. But if Alien Exodus timeloop exists to prevent THX from happening and change the American Grafitti future into a better one... then the question is which one. Star Trek? Stargate? BSG? In my grand theory of every fiction and reality united in UltimateOneCanon... BSG has to exist before the final loop, and Stargate probably too. Maybe BSG and Stargate can coexist even? Star Trek, especially the dystopian recent Trek rather is no big end either. So there are multiple loop iterations leading to a variety of Earth futures... including Terminator, Alien, Predator, BSG, Stargate, Star Wars, THX, Star Trek, Doctor Who, etc. futures and loop iterations... even Dune, Indiana Jones and others. Loops within loops within loops... Worlds between Worlds... and me going crazy to square them all.
I think the significance of the Rakata from a galaxy traveling perspective, is that it is their technology that eventually evolved into the modern hyperdrive. They were certainly not the first galaxy travelers, as they did not come to galactic prominence until circa 30,000 BBY; whereas the Celestials go back at least as far as circa 100,000 BBY. I suspect they were not the first to travel the galaxy, either.
It seems that the purrgil are now intended to be what inspired or led to hyperspace technology in Canon. Maybe the Rakata first harnessed them (perhaps literally), enabled by the creatures' migratory patterns leading them to Rakata Prime.
This might be for this thread, but how old and ancient does anyone think. The Father, Son, Daughter, force priestess and Bendu are. Since the beginning of time in this galaxy. Or were they born and just made immortal.?
The Gree and Kwa used stationary gates to travel Hyperspace, giant teleportation machines basically. And yes, the Rakata being... the Rakata, I could definitely see their hyperdrive tech being partly rooted in organs carved out of defenseless Purrgills.
They are not truly immortal as the Father was frail and seemingly dying a natural death when he summoned Anakin and Co. to Mortis. We know nothing about Bendu's species so there's nothing to speculate over for him. His species might just live for a long time like Yoda's. The force priestesses don't appear to be alive at all, they are all Force Ghosts who pass on the knowledge of how to accomplish that form of existence. But the answer to this question is simply answered and kept, old.
One thing is still a mystery to me, son dies, part of the Daughter is in Ahsoka and the bird Morai, father dies and becomes a force ghost? Is he a whill. Also Mortis gods and force priestess was hinted to be connected during Rebels behind the scenes during the WBW episode.
My understanding is that they may be first but they were not the one who everybody got it from, instead many of the post-Rakata pre-First Republic intersteelar civilizations developed the technology (in variations) themself.
Anyone else thinks some of these ancients stuff will be revisited in canon soon? Now that we are getting a Dawn of the Jedi and New Jedi movie I feel like ancient force stuff is what they should do and to continue what was started with the Mortis arc.
Taking it a step further, the design aesthetic of the Rakatan ships and the Star Forge might even be based on the purrgill. Those big pillar things sticking out of the top and bottom of the big central ball thing on the Star Forge could be a visual representation of the tentacles of the purrgill, who might have been a creature that was revered and worshipped in their culture or religion, and so they modelled the design aesthetics of their ships after them. Admittedly this is a bit of a stretch, but it would be a cool way to tie the two together.
If they copy some more ancient Legends instead of being original, who will be the big bad? Varlians/Hutts as in Alien Exodus? Zeffo? Rakata? Or will they keep evil roles reserved for human actors that fell from grace?
I would never imagine that we could see a Live Action Movie with Rakata Infinite Empire vs Je'daii Order or Pre Jedi could the Star Forge appear if the Rakata appear in Dawn of the Jedi Movie? KOTOR Movie next?
I imagine we may get some Rakata. But I don’t think we’ll get a pre-Jedi order like the Jedaii. I’m hoping they stick closer to whatever notes Lucas had on the subject. And I don’t think the Jedaii fit with his vision. But it would be great if we get to see the seeds of what would become the Sith.
I think what also connects both, nDotJ and nNJO movies is, that both eras in Legends are famous for "evil alien invasions" AND that the Forceless Vong concept was only because the "Dark Side Aliens" concept was forbidden, yet basically fits like a glove on the Rakata. So if the original NJO pitch was Rakata invasion instead of Vong... and we got now two nucanon eras linking both invasions... what can we expect to happen? Rakata-Vong hybrids as nemesis? Or for the more obscure lore versed fans: Darth JarJar confirmed?
I could also see it be a thing where studying purrgil leads to making breakthroughs that allow for purely tech hyperdrives to be created, rather than the techno-magic used by the Rakata. I am not sure what the intentions are, but personally I like the idea of them just being ancient and powerful force users who achieved near-immortality and were mistaken as gods by early force users they tutored. The presence of Mortis force wielder iconography in the older jedi temples does imply a connection I could see explored somewhere... If they do go off of legends, I imagine the enemies will be the rakata who were the villains of the similarly named comic and have been mentioned in Andor. That, or early darksiders like the Tython Force Wars that the comic was building up to before being canceled. If not...then probably early darksiders, or something new. Like, new alien species, or go full fantasy and have demons as enemies.
Maybe purrgil are connected to Mortis Trio (and that is the real reason why they arrived to defend Lothal) and during the time of its rule they were quite widespread, but after the Family left the galaxy their former servants Rakata started to exterminate purrgil and nearly succeeded.
Kathleen Kennedy says Dawn of the Jedi is far along in development, and the Rakatan Empire was already established in Andor, so…
