    gave this one a 9

it’s an amazing show, I love it, but I can’t wait to watch it all at once, it’s going to play so much better that way for me

it’s definitely that good, my primary reason for giving it less is that I can’t watch it all at once

Love the reality of this episode. Lutran is like... "That's the plan!" ... when it comes to the need to have more suffering from the galactic populace. His assistant basically says this is what a rebellion is. In order to battle and hope to defeat the empire, the rebellion is gonna have to play rough and nasty in order to compete in said battle. This is one of the coolest thing about this show. Yes, I guess we can agree the Empire = Bad, and the rebellion = good, but not so fast. Looks like the rebellion is gonna be just as nasty, too!

Just think of all the lives lost when the first Death Star was destroyed. Even The Mandalorian hit on this.

Hopefully all of the aliens in this episode, especially on space Florida, will calm those complaints about the lack of them.

I thought Luthen was saying by pulling the heist the empire was going to get worse, cause more pain and suffering in the galaxy.

For the rebellion to work and get free of the empire the empire was going to make the galaxy a much worse place before it can get better.

It most certainly helped, it was very enjoyable to see this diversity on Niamos. And it added to the argument that non humans are probably driven away from places where the Empire has a strong presence, including Coruscant. Though if I remember correctly Coruscant has a population of 1 trillion, so it would be impossible for potentially hundreds of billions of aliens to just leave, but I suspect they are mostly limited to the lower levels. In general, the lack of aliens in the first few episodes is a very minor complaint, but in my opinion it has legitimacy. Space Florida was amazing though. Every second on it really. By far my most favorite part of the episode, regardless of how perfect the dialogues between Maarva & Andor and Mon Mothma & Luthen were.
This is exactly how I interpreted Luthen's mindset as well. He realizes that in order for the galaxy to join or at the very least support a Rebellion, people first have to see and even feel in person the atrocities that the Empire is committing. The showcasing of the authoritarian policies that Palpatine approved in this episode was the most important part of the episode, narrative wise. Luthen is counting on the Empire tightening its grip, so that the billions of beings in the galaxy eventually realize that it must be brought down. Including Andor.

I gave the episode a 7. As much as I loved a lot of things in it, the plot was quite predictable to me, and while I enjoyed it I wasn't fascinated by it. Plus I subtracted one point for reactionary reasons. Every time this show is presented as "objectively superior" across various media that I follow, I will feel the need to roll my eyes at the elitism.

I can understand that generalization completely, the ones that take the ‘viewership is down’ seriously

Andor is not a household name like Kenobi is, Andor is not a pulp action hero like Mando is

Andor is a Rebel who doesn’t know he’s a Rebel, and that’s just a much more difficult concept to grasp for most people

Fascinating how Cassian’s successful heist had the unintended effect of giving his mother hope against the Empire. He wants to take her away to somewhere safer. It’s his earlier actions that help make her decide she won’t leave. Cassias knows all the BS about the mission and how false the hope is. Cassias wisely can’t tell her he was part of it.

Err, 7 maybe…i didn’t like the ending. It felt tacked on, a little bit out of the blue, oddly comedic. All the ISB shenanigans are good fun. Shades of Dr Strangelove. Those guys are probably the only reason why I’m sticking with it.

Whilst the episode wasn’t exactly “after the Lord Mayors show” maybe closer to the morning after (the night before), it served as a suitable trough to the peak of ep6. The series just needs more peaks. It’s like the tv equivalent of a God’s Speed You Black Emperor album. Plods along, a burst of excitement, then back to plodding. 5 episodes to go so here’s hoping for an increase in tempo.

Speaking of TV, for some reason I was irked by the fact that people in Star Wars watch TV. A minor quibble that I can’t really qualify with reasoned debate. It just made my teeth tingle.

Brilliant again. This series is definitely the best SW content I’ve seen since…well, Rogue One. Seeing the rebellion take shape is mesmerising. I also love the locations (not least the serendipitous moment when I recognised the interior of my old ‘home’ the Barbican Centre in London) and the acting is top drawer.

Do we know if the party in the episode is the one referenced in Ep 4 where Sly Moore was invited? I didn't see her in attendance. If it was, that would have been a nice cameo.

It was not the party referred to in ep.4. That party happened in the evening of the same day they had the conversation about it. It was a dinner party with a smaller number of guests seated at the large dinning table. Probably something to do with Mon’s husband’s day of days .

We did not see that dinner party on show at all.

I just got a brand new 65-in TV with a soundbar and Andor ep 7 was the first show I watched. This is I think now my single favorite episode of any Star Wars tv. I'm all about World building and The Slice of Life shown from so many different angles of how the Empire works is masterfully done, better than any single thing George Lucas did as far as world building goes or anything the Disney era has done since.

how each storyline is connected through Palpatine and the reach of the empire is masterfully done. I LOVE THIS. I mean Luthen is evil in his own way but he is 100% right, after the robbery, the empire is clamping down and even andor as a tourist is just sentenced and thrown away. The isb is more interesting than any villain in the Disney era has came up b4, or any politics in the prequel trilogy. This is just storytelling on a different level. Everything with andor and his mom was great. Mon mothma and her friend, awesome. The ISB leader pinning everybody against each other and the political backstabbing is a chef's kiss. The only storyline that's not really going for me so far is the formal corp officer who's now just working in a cubicle, but I do think that will eventually pay off I'm just finding his part boring so far.

Besides that one little Nitpick this is a 10 out of 10 episode for me

I wonder if we’ll see Palpatine at some point. Even if just briefly in the senate or in some galaxy wide holo transmission- order.
