Okay, so that was another fantastic episode. Loved ALL of it. The prison break, the final scene ("What did I sacrifice?"), even Mon Mothma's dilemma. What a show, man.

Also, I swear. When Andy Serkis said he couldn't swim I teared up. I mean, I knew he had to be ultimately doomed, but ouch. That hurt me. He's been soooo good in this. Anyway, good stuff. Thumbs up.

One of the interesting moments was Luthen casually accepting the upcoming deaths of 50 Rebel supporters just to keep Lonni's identity a secret.

Once again this shows how the Rebels can be just as nasty and ruthless as the Empire..

Another way they show this to a lesser extent is with Mon Mothma’s dilemma. Sure is letting 50 people die worse than an arranged marriage? Yes, but both are hinge are morally bankrupt. Although to different degrees.

They are not as nasty ws the Empire, they are just open to immense sacrifices for a greater good.
That said, it's surely shocking that Luthen valued Lonni as an asset more than 50 rebels, even on a practical level.

But he is. He’s seemingly their only spy in the ISB. And he has gotten pretty high up in the organization as well. Is one life worth more than another 1:1 no. But is he harder to replace than the 50 others? Yes. That’s how Luthen looks at it I guess.

"I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them.". Gawddammit what a line!
    - Did not expect my comment about prisoners on their tiptoes to come true.:p
    - episode was over much too quickly! I WANT MORE!
    - Expected them to find a ship to get off planet but perhaps that's for the next episode.
    - No Syril. [face_sigh]
    - Really hope that's not the last we see of Kino.
    - The Mon Mothma scene with the banker was intense. You could feel the fear for her daughter emanating from Mon. Outstanding acting!
Really looking forward to what happens next!

There's a lot to process with this one. Amazing episode! So many great lines of dialogue. So many great character moments. Loved it! All the storylines were at the top of their game.

Not sure what else there is to say about the Luthen and Kino storylines that hasn't been said already. Top notch stuff!

Boy, the Mon Mothma story sure got dark! I love that I don't actually know what decision she's going to make. The fact that we know she doesn't get caught by the Empire adds fuel to the idea that she'll sacrifice her daughter for the cause which is crazy! I don't think she we will but there is a small part of me that thinks she will be forced to marry off her daughter.

It's a shame that we probably won't see Kino Loy again but Serkis made great use of every second he was on screen this episode. He had to of known that there was most likely no way he was getting out if he couldn't swim but used his leadership skills to rouse and guide all the other prisoners. Great writing of the character by Beau Williamson. The score was great during the whole escape too, one of the better Star Wars scenes in awhile.

In the episode the banker guy talks about how she knows and has met Mothma’s husband I think he will agree to it on Mothma’s behalf.

In Luthen's shoes, I would have considered that Lonni might be able to get away with it, since the rebel being suspicious had always been on the table regardless. So, considering that he is usually short on men in other circumstances, meh, probably saving 50 men and taking the (fairly remote) risk of losing Lonni was the right way to go.

The only thing that felt a little off to me was that Cassian let those to Imperials in the control room live. Cassian just killed a bunch of guards. Why would he let the those Imperials live?

Speaking of the control room guys I loved that the person making the announcements using the deep robot sounding voice is actually a wimp in real life. That was a real Great and Powerful Oz moment.

I wonder what happened in the prison afterwards - many prisoners would not have jumped in the water and they would have to deal with the prison guards , maybe take them hostage, or do a deal?

Luthen's willingness to sacrifice 50 people is brutal and morally very suspect, and if I were him, I'd find a different path. But there's no moral equivalence between the rebellion and the Empire. The rebels are trying to free the galaxy from a totalitarian state, and that alone gives them the moral high ground. And last I checked, they haven't yet destroyed an entire planet just to make a demonstration. Gilroy makes this clear by showing us the prison rebellion. These are the good guys. They will do some bad things, but the greater good is their goal. Whereas the Empire's goal is a decidedly evil status quo.
They were unarmed, they shut down a power system that will take months to restart, they're part of a skeleton crew as opposed to hardcore elite soldiers, and Cassian may have been sending a message: we're the good guys. It made sense to me as Cassian was really amped up for rebellion in this episode, and I think his humanity was in fuller gear than normal. These guys were of no danger to him, and he felt like sparing them. He's developing as a character.
I think they've been talking about early marriage Chandrilan customs for a reason. Her marrying early isn't unusual to her people. So she might do it, and justify it that way. Or perhaps hope that her daughter will simply reject him over time.

My guess, though, is that in the next 3-episode arc, Cassian pulls something off that makes Mothma's sacrifice unnecessary. And that's when she says "I'd like to meet Cassian Andor."
This. A rebel spy that high up in the enemy's primary intelligence agency is almost invaluable. Indeed, by giving Luthen all the intel he did, he simply proved how valuable he was, and reinforced that value for Luthen.

There's only two episodes left. The prison arc was four episodes instead of the usual three.

As for Kino Loy, I think the most heartbreaking thing was he likely knew from the beginning he wasn't going to be able to escape himself but went along with it anyway to save everyone else. And I don't think we've seen the last of him. He'll probably be recaptured and questioned by the ISB. :(

This episode honestly was not as good as I expected. It's good that prison storyline is now over, but I was not especially moved by any of this. They escaped the prison and Kino Loy perhaps died, perhaps not. Serkis was great again, but Kino Loy was just some dude in prison. We didn't learn much of him at all. Now we don't even know if he is alive. His revelation he cannot swim did tell something about him though, he knew that all along but still did all he could for the others. But honestly they could've perhaps still helped him to escape somehow.

Best scene was that with Lonni and Luthen.

Sure it wasn't bad as no episode of Andor has been really bad so far but I expected better. I loved the Aldhani heist episode more, this was bit underwhelming IMO.

Imperials felt inept this time. Familar in Star Wars, but not in Andor. They didn't use stun for some reason at all. They could've actually rather easily put down the uprising by stunning them all and lose no workforce. Maybe they were just so panicked by prisoners rising up but still. They always relied on their floor to stun them so maybe their blasters had no stun function at all. Even though all blasters seem to have them in animated shows.

I also expected something more clever from Andor than just breaking one water pipe and starting a brawl. Well I expected too much I guess.

Was it a bad episode? Not really. But not as good as I was expecting. After so many very good episodes in Andor.

It was intriguing how we were only now told that Lonni is a rebel spy, that was the best thing in episode and Luthen with his cynical attitude. But prison break was IMO a bit underwhelming.

Mon Mothma storyline is also getting bit boring for me to be honest. So many scenes in same room with same faces. I get it she had a choice between her daughter and her aims and she is not ready to sacrifice her morals. I think idea is to compare her to Luthen who is willing to sacrifice everything. He sends entire rebel team to be sacrificed.

It was disappointing that entire prison was filled with just human males, they could've had like different levels for non-humans, females etc. but sure imperial prison system is supposed to be massive. There were other units like the one they escaped from too. Still visually it was bit boring to see only humans and only male prisoners escaping.

Anyway 2 episodes left. I hope they feel more satisfying for me. This one was a bit letdown IMO.

That was cool seeing Cinta watching Cassian’s mom’s house and the empire watching it. It’s hot location. Let’s hope Cassian’s first stop isn’t home.

Cassian and Melshi were both knocked off the ledge before they had a chance to help him. It's not like they just abandoned him to his fate.
