Andor Andor Episode 2.01 Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

Took me by the wrist and pulled me in right off the bat. One year later and Cassian is apart from his friends (family) again on a mission. I also didn't expect this Tie heist so early! Great acting continues. Good to see Luthen at the Chandrilla pre wedding party. And Vel plus Kleha too. I liked the two seperate scenes going on at the same time. So the wheat planet...it's not Dantooine...or Lothal. Krennic is in this already! Let's see how Cassian can outsmart these hoodlums.

 

Felt like the first half of a big budget feature film at times. Classic Star Wars action opening. Flawless visual effects. The character and plot building is much more direct than first season. You feel rewarded because they laid down the foundation for this in season one. Planet hopping like the beginning of Rogue One, but it feels very organic in the intense way we are moving from distant places to more familiar ones.

Very clean, minimalistic design. Mirrors the aesthetics of the OT a lot.

Ghorman tweed - on my brain. And who does not love a roundtable of scummy Imperial uniforms. Loved that Ben Mendelsohn is onboard from first episode. He gets more minutes and pauses here to show off his acting. Excellent bringing him back with more depth and some great dialog.

A great start.

The Andor stuff past the Tie Heist is really boring so far. I get that they are setting up that they are going to have him end up being the leader of the group.

The Krennic stuff was the best and I loved the ad for Ghorman. Now I want a Star Wars show riffing in-universe ads

 

This is what the first season did - lay seeds that will be paid off later. Pay attention and be rewarded later.

Great start. Maya Pai needs a better recruiter.

 

Not just the Avenger...but that looked like TIE Advance V1s from Rebels chasing him.

 

I felt the spirit of SC in Andor which I never expected. Andor putting the Tie in reverse. The inept "rebels" trying to decide with what seemed a lot like rock, paper, scissors. I wasn't even disappointed that nothing on my Andor bingo card got checked off.

 

Funny, but realistic too. He got bad intel about the ship.

 

Excellent opening starting season 2 with Cassian mid mission. It had a very start of a sequel feel to it. Also gives the idea Cassian has been very busy in the last year as a rebel.

 

KRENNNIIICCC. One of my favorite villains in all of Star Wars. What's awesome here is we get to see him at a time where his authority doesn't look to be questioned. There was almost a pathetic quality to him in Rogue One since he was essentially Tarkin's whipping boy. Not this episode though!

I'm salivating at the prospect of a Krennic- Dedra team up.

 

Statistically, the most likely group to be captured by!

 

Porco Verde, the famous Gamorrean pilot.

 

Comedy gold episode, while also thrilling. Lot of great moments, with Kleya looking for a drink being the best one.

I don’t really have the words yet but man that feels good to have Andor back!

 

Skeleton Crew? I most certainly did not feel that anywhere.

Wrong thread, that's in the 2nd episode

On topic, what an amazing opening to the 2nd season. This episode was phenomenal, albeit not the "realistic" Andor that the majority of its fan praise. That stolen TIE fighter didn't need to crash 320 times on rocks and be shot by 2309 laser beams really. I know it looks like a prototype that is supposed to be more sturdy than the pleb TIE fighters perhaps, but it was still over the top.

Mendelson is a great addition to the show, much needed. His scenes were perfection, as expected.

Same goes for all the scenes with Mon Mothma and Luthien, but we also already knew that.

I feel that every scene with Cassian should just be action. The less he speaks in his self-righteous ways, the better it is for me. Dude, you're not a nice guy, nor do you have a strong moral compass. You're just on a revenge path, and you're the definition of rebel scum.

 

Krennic and Dedra appear to have mutual respect. I wouldn't be surprised if Dedra quietly pines after him all the while getting sick of Syril.

 

So great seeing Director Orson Krennic again. He brings soo mutch tension. Mentions of Yularen and Tarkin. We get the plan to massacre the Ghormam people. The Emperor want ultimate power. The plan Cassian Andor heist didnt go well and love see he almost coundt fly his ship

 

Krennic's meeting was very reminiscent of the Wannsee Conference, where the Nazis discussed the extermination of the Jews.

Promising start to the season. Didn’t expect the Ghorman stuff to be happening so soon.

I recognize I’m in the minority but Krennic isn’t my favorite character. There are 11 more episodes to be proven wrong.

Gilroy must have given Denise Gough the instruction to act as if her character is in a trash compactor because she looks like she is smelling something awful at all times.

I’m hitting pause before watching the next two episodes.
