I started watching the new season without having watched a recap of the previous season, and I regret that I did that. To be honest, I was kind of lost in terms of what was going on through the multiple scenarios. The last image that I had in my mind of Cassian was escaping that prison with Andy Sirkis; and now he starts off on an Imperial Ship where he initially tells someone that he's a Test Pilot for a new TIE, but he subsequently steals it and after crashing a few times goes on his way. Later we see Mon Mothma and company attending her daughter's wedding; obviously in mind the development of the rebellion. As promised, Krennic returns to the scene. Mendolsohn keeps his fascist character in check. And then there's the rebels fighting against each other. That was the part that just seemed silly to me. I know these folks seemed like miserable people to begin with, but they only started trying to kill each other when Cassian and his TIE landed?

They had already been bickering, as the dialogue made clear, and they'd only been there for two days.

They were stranded there. Cassian’s ship represents a way to escape that wasn’t possible before. The problem is they don’t all fit, and since it’s a brand new prototype nobody but Cassian knows how to fly it. So there’s a lot of tension over who gets to go and who has to stay behind and pray that neither Cassian nor their fellow rebels betray them and don’t come back.

Yeah. I encourage everyone to watch it a second time, as the dialogue and events of the Rebel Idiot Brigade move so quickly that it's hard to pin down at first.

I'll do a rewatch this weekend. I really liked the episode, this was a great lift off to the season. I thought the Rebel idiot brigade (Yavin Rebel scrubs) was a neat idea just not well executed. None of those actors pulled me into the scene except Cassian.

I gave it an 8/10. A fine episode to open the new season with a lot going on. I left my full review earlier.

The Rebel Idiots Brigade makes a ton of sense if you consider that two days prior, most of their much larger group of rebels was massacred (they lost six ships and forty fighters). They were then dumped in this part of the jungle while one of them went to search for other survivors, and then nothing. And there are these carnivorous beasts hunting them (the design of which was really great, btw - hasn't been discussed much). So they're still reeling. They have no leader. Some accept that their former leader is dead, and others don't. So they're in a state of total confusion, disarray, and panic, without a clear idea of what's going on or what to do. And nobody to lead. I almost we'd seen what happened just to give that extra context, as at first, it's hard to get your head around what they're all about. Though that confusion is part of the point of the scenes. Cassian steps into a total confused mess by accident, all exacerbated by the fact that the different rebel factions won't share information, and are all paranoid. Just watched it again (3 times now) and it really works.

    Well this was brilliant.

Rebel Idiot Brigade was so annoying!

Ghorman holiday video was a kind of insanity… a man over cake debating plague attacks. It’s surreal.

When Krennic drops his nebulous and false narrative for just a moment to describe the "reactor lenses" is chilling.

I haven't been able to get it out of my head.

I believe "You're Coming Home to Yourself" to be an excellent candidate for Star Wars T-shirt merch. That line and its delivery might be my single favorite moment from this episode. I wonder if we'll see Niya again, later in the season.

    I gave this an 8/10.

The show's good so it'll obviously ramp up but it does show a lot of potential. I liked seeing Cassian and it's interesting that we're seeing him encountering other elements of the resistance, not all that are friendly. The scenes with Mon and Luthen and the separate ones with the ISB seem to be establishing shots as it were to position what'll happen. I want to see more Bix though. I was a fan of hers, thought they did a lot with her and can't wait to see her and Cassian reconnect.

The funniest part of the episode was when the imperial cadet from Steergard tells Luthen that they're all being transferred, and Luthen suddenly perks up and says "Really, where will you all be going?" Like a scene from Casablanca. The humor was truly on point in these three episodes. It was something I wished there was more of in S1, as people in conflict often have a great, if dark, sense of humor, and I think Gilroy recognized that this time around.

I got that feeling, too. HBO did a great movie about called "Conspiracy" starring Kenneth Branagh as Himler. It's awesome.

My only issue with the episode, was how in the galaxy did a known criminal like Andor get into Seinar in the first place? He wasn't disguised, wouldn't his face have been easily recognized?

I can't see Cassian topping many Imperial lists to worry about.

    Don't double post, too, please.

Sorry about that. After Ferrix and his assumed association with Axis by the ISB, I'd think he'd be most of the way to the top of those wanted lists.

But ISB doesn't want to spook him underground. Very possible his face has not been spread far.

I don't think they have an actual picture of him. In the first arc of season 1 they had one from when he was younger, but nothing current. And nothing changed afterwards. No one bothered with such details on Narkina 5, as the prisoners were just slave-labour anyway. And even if they did, they had no reason to associate his face with that of Cassian Andor, as he was imprisoned under a different name.

It also seems like there was quite the rebel presence in Sienar. They still had contacts on the ground that confirmed he got away even after he had stolen the prototype. All they really needed was for someone from their side to get him in. Afterwards no one really pays attention to him, because he is an Imperial pilot in an imperial station. With the help of one or two contacts inside, you can basically lie yourself past anyone, because no one will feel responsible for checking on him. That sort of harks back to what was said in season 1, no one on the Imperial side even thinks someone could walk in as a fake-Imperial. Act like you belong, and no one cares.

Doesn't seem like facial recognition is much of a thing in the franchise anyway.
