Neither, noooo… not at all close to Quebecois, it sounds like a French dialect but the words have nothing to do with it and it seems minionese to me eheh

    He was kidding.

And yeah, the language is not French at all. It’s just that all the actors on Ghorman are French and speak Ghorman (and English) with an outraaaaageous French accent.

I know I know he was kidding eheheh
I would say the ghorman language is spoken with a French dialect accent (southern one maybe but I can’t decide) not with a French (like metropolitain French) accent. The tone the cadence all is there but the words are gibberish. It is troubling Ehehe. But some words have recognisable roots? Really interested if they reference something about how they constructed it?

Just watched this pretty good episode.

I guess they're really in the business of time-jumping here to get ever closer to the R1 timeline; we'll probably get another time jump next week. So Ghorman has its own fledgling rebellion; seemingly stemming from when Tarkin led a massacre there. And now that the Empire wants to build an armory over the monument, that's only stirring up more hatred against them. We get to see the Ghormans here, and they're speaking an unfamiliar language. It did feel a little like French to me, and apparently that's what it was based on. Saw is back in the picture now; which makes me wonder if there may be any hint of a little girl named Jyn (but that's likely wishful thinking alone). I'm still trying to understand where Syril and Deedra are in all of this. Are they actually trying to be the best spies that the Empire can ever have, or are they working as double agents for the rebellion? I assume it's the former, but I'm not 100% on it. Not sure what Bix took at the end of this episode; but I'm worried.

Yes, it’s been confirmed for quite a while that there’s a 1 year time jump between each three episode arc in season 2.

I gave this episode an 8/10. A little above the average that I've been giving the previous three episodes. I've posted my review about it earlier.

Pretty good episode. Two scenes in particular were standouts for me:
    1) Cassian talking to Bix about killing a soldier. I think this was Diego Luna's best acting out of all the episodes so far. Not that he was bad or anything before, but there wasn't really anything as intense and emotional before. "He was a threat! He was a soldier! It had to be done! It had to be done." Great scene all around.
    2) Obviously, Saw Gerrera. Just steals the show. Also, the music theme for his rebels group is very cool. This was apparently the episodes that Nicholas Britell scored. And you can tell. The score is much better than the previous block of episodes.
Syril was very fun to watch. Looking forward to where his story goes. Ghorman was pretty cool, it all looked great, expensive and very well done - even if I found them a little too earth-like. Sometimes it felt like I wasn't watching Star Wars, but a random WW2 movie, aesthetically speaking. Just needs some more otherworldliness, something exotic. Even if, say, in the prequels, Naboo was basically space Italy, the costumes were quite unique and different from anything else, and not just French beanies and trench coats. You also had Gungans there, you had various exotic fauna, and not just... pigeons. This was literally space France, with people dressing like the French, speaking French, and living cliche French life, drinking coffee and eating croissants in the street cafes. Just doesn't feel like Star Wars to me. Sometimes this show is too grounded, grounded to a fault. This goes hand in hand with the utter refusal to use any of the classic Lucas alien designs. There are some aliens in the background shots, but they are all Disney aliens, which are all generic, bland, featureless, brown blobs, who all look the same.

On the downside, I found some of the other Cassian/Bix scenes to be dragging. They felt like they were going on and on.

    8/10

    I gave this a 9/10.

I'm a fan of Saw and the Partisans so seeing them was cool, and I don't know why but Moroff is one of my favorite minor characters. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Syril seems in over his head. He's shocked they're listening to his conversations? Is he a fool?

I hate seeing Bix in such a state and Cassian having to leave her. He didn't have a lot of choice though, when Luthen calls you don't have a real choice even though he says you do. So we'll see what happens next.

This was an episode really light on Mon. She didn't show up for over a half an hour for a few scenes. I don't recall them being super significant except speaking to the senator from Ghorman. That being said I could've missed something since so many of her scenes in spoken in hushed tones.

As excited I was after the first 3-part story arc last week, sadly, this trilogy didn't really do it for me. Rated this one with a noble 6/10, mostly because I will still enjoy and love all the scenes with Mon Mothma and/or Luthen, and because Cassian and Bix living in one of the boroughs of Coruscant with their deli and their laundromat and their plants in their small apartment with a view, was fascinating.

Beyond that, the Ghorman plot leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. I understand that somehow towards the end of the season all these stories will lead to a climactic finale, but I can't say I am very interested in seeing every single step of how the Empire will eventually get access to their precious shielding metals so that they can operate the Death Star. Actually, I am not even interested in seeing that whole thing happening. Anyway, still a good show, and very well made, but nothing extraordinary.

Enjoyed Episode 3... the slow burn continues.

    > I get the sense that what's happening on Ghorman at this point isn't "rebellion". It's not (yet) illegal to question the Empire or the Emperor. You can hold a (fairly) open public meeting. But...
times are changing and people sense it; they realize it may not be long before speaking your mind or having a meeting like that will NOT be legal. Mon senses all this too in the way politicians are increasingly nervous about getting on Palpatine's bad side. It's a great way of showing how Palpatine and the Empire gradually kept tightening their grasp - a nice connection to ANH with the final dissolution of the Senate and Leia's reference to the Empire's tightening grip.
    > I think Andor is doing a nice job of showing how war and rebellion are nasty business without going into outright moral relativism or suggesting that there is "no difference " between the two sides. Loved how in Bix's dream the "torture doctor " was all chummy, with the suggestion that he could happily "do his thing" for the Rebels (of course, he's not there and it's all Bix weighing what she and Andor now have to do).
    > Syril seems so "alien"... when inspecting himself in the mirror I got the vibe it was less vanity and almost him evaluating if he was... I dont know... passable? Passably human (not literally)? Or... worried that his real nature would show on his face?

    Very enjoyable.

The Ghorman Front predates the Maltheen conference, Saw references them in season 1. Dedra's recommendation is to take control of existing rebellion, to make sure they make the mistakes favorable to the Empire, I don't think ISB involvement in the Ghorman Front predates their sending Syril to infiltrate the organization.

More than that. She wants the Ghorman Front to attack the imperial installation being built, creating galaxy wide distrust against the Ghor and justifying the oppression.

That's the kind of mistake I meant - the kind that sees them massacred instead of liberated.

Luthen seems totally fine with that. Wood for the fire he needs burning hot so more rebellions spark. Interesting he and the Empire have the same objective here to get this fledging rebel group to go to far.

Favorite parts were Mon Mothma's politicking on Coruscant and the ISB plot line.

This episode obviously serves as the setup for the other two. I gave it a 9, very intriguing stuff there, and I absolutely LOVED Ghorman. There is this clear 1960s/70s Cold War feel to it, right down to the Franco-German language and accents they are using. Just incredible writing and production.

The most important part of this episode, obviously, is that it recanonized the Grabvine Gateway racetrack on Baroonda from cornerstone of Star Wars lore, Episode I - Racer.
