I feel like it goes the trope of killing one of the gay characters. Like many tv shows of early 2000

 

Is that all you took from her death, the fact she was gay, female and of colour??? Ummm so what about when Brasso died in a previous episode? Was it disrespectful that a straight, hetro, white guy died the way he did?

In the end the fact she was killed off so unceremoniously is what made the scene so powerful and significant.

 

I feel the opposite. They showed a lesbian kiss in Star wars, passionate at that- unthinkable in any other show before id wager...I was half expecting uproar about it like we had for what happened to Bix but the right wingers have not been brave enough to tagline their thumbnails as such yet... which is a good thong ..RIP cinta

 

Gilroy confirmed in an interview today that Bail plays an important role in the next arc(s). He introduced him briefly here so fans could adjust to the recast, and then enjoy Bratt’s performance the week after without confusion or distraction.

 

I hope this sets a precedence for recasting Legacy characters

 

It worked really well for me. And Gilroy gave a good explanation for briefly introducing him here, in preparation for a big role in the next arc(s). I’m thrilled that we get more Bail content, and am glad they didn’t decide to simply use a different character for the story they have in mind. And if the rumors are true, using Bail at this juncture will have a major payoff.

 

As I find the show so shakespearian and theatrical...it's just like a stand in treading the boards

 

I very much disagree with the placement of the recast reveal. Do it while Mon is talking with Senators about the bill in episode 4 and not towards the end of episode 6, leading into the climax of the arc.

 

It was a perfectly natural placement to me. Big shrug.

He was likely not in the Senator montage because he supports Mon’s bill.

 

Right now i wish we had gotten Bail Organa earlier if they could recast. He is the father of the Rebellion. Its Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera who are there since beginning. And just now we see Bail and Saw had a cameo role in season one, only now getting a larger role.

 

Maybe rephrase that question in good faith and I'll dignify it with a response.

 

Then have the two of them mustering up support together like in the Revenge of the Sith deleted scenes and how Erskin was talking with another Senator during that montage or just have a quick scene of the two of them discussing a plan to gather support. Put it in a spot that isn't going to distract from the culmination of the story of 3 BBY.

 

I would agree had she been killed off on Aldhani after one episode or something. But she wasn’t. She was a strong and memorable gay character who died a tragic and memorable death. And of course her partner, who is also gay, lives on for future episodes. I think it was well done.

 

I didn’t find it at all distracting. They’re going to an event where a bunch of big shot politicians will be. And he’s one of them. Made perfect sense. And I imagine he wasn’t part of the bill-promoting montage for a reason that will be made clear next week. We’ll see.

 

You didn't at least question why Bratt was playing Bail instead of Smits when it was revealed? Smits who had played Bail in Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, Rogue One, and Obi-Wan Kenobi over the past 25 years.

 

Can we hear three cheers for the sublime weirdness of Saw?

I think it's very very clever the way they included the original Legends version of the Ghorman massacre in the backstory of the coming new one. The One Canon lives!

I'm very worried for Lonni's safety now that Luthen clearly used his intelligence to take out Ghorst. But maybe Lonni will manage to get Dedra's former assistant to be blamed for it. That seemed to be his intention with having him take the lead on the new facility.

 

It took me completely out of the scene. Ultimately I could ignore it because it was so small and I loved the rest of the episode. But I dread him having a larger role in the next arc because it doesn’t work for me. At all.

 

I dunno. I feel like she didn't get her due this season. I feel like it's not enough for her to have had such a strong character role in the first season if they were barely going to have her feature in the second season before they killed her off. She was in two episodes and she didn't even speak for one of them. I know this is partially because they decided to go with a two-season show instead of a five-season show, but it feels like she didn't have enough time, and I don't mean in a way that makes the tragedy effective.

 

The actress also has a major role on Doctor Who so there might have been a reason for her small role this season that was out of their control.

 

Being the last season I get the feeling that everyone not present in Rogue One is meeting their demise in some order over the next couple weeks

 

Agreed, something felt off... Cinta kills Tay and a year later some random Ghorman dude kills Cinta. (that dude was carrying a firearm and he was instructed not to carry... I hope we see his ultimate demise)

At least Saw Gerrera doesn't go out like a punk....
