I just finished S2. Wow. Some of the best Star Wars ever. Gilroy was given free license to work with the writers (and directors) he wanted. No extracurriculars. Top talent. Just think - when the escape pod hit Tatooine in ANH, a week or so earlier, Luthen was alive. The bench scene in the last episode kicks things off.

I’d like to tell a story
Before I am able to collect my thoughts coherently on Andor

When we were little, Grandpa George told us a story, a bit fictional and a bit sweetened up, about how the empire had been defeated.

Then when we were a bit older he told us how it all started and our parents got angry ‘you shouldn't have told them about Anakin and Order 66, now they have nightmares and are afraid that good people will turn bad and the world will turn against them!’

Then we grew up again and Uncle JJ tried to tell us how evil had returned and no one had noticed but we didn't listen to him much.

Now that we're all grown up and “weathered” Uncle Tony sat us down and said ‘you're old enough now, evil is coming back into the galaxy again and it's only right that you know the truth and be prepared to sacrifice what is necessary to fight it, you are the next rebels: now I'm going to tell you without filters and without omissions what is the price to pay to defeat the dark side, listen well because you will need this knowledge soon!’

and oh my, uncle Tony is good at telling stories

    and we loved his story

but it also left us scarred and scared and sad and afraid for what’s to come

    because now we know

    now we really know

that most real heroes had to do questionable things to defeat evil

and we also know that most real heroes…

… did not get to see that sunrise they fought to create…

I need time to elaborate something else
But thank you uncle Tony, it hurt but we needed that

Tony Gilroy said in an interview that she is living in High Society on Chandrila. Judging by the last shot of Perrin, it doesn't appear that any reprisal has fallen on Mon's family. Presumably they were able to eliminate them as suspected collaborators, and they hold to high a position in society for using them as hostages/leverage to be considered beneficial.

How has this series changed the viewing of Rogue One (or anything else)?

There's already been a few things said in this thread or elsewhere.

I wondered about the line "Who are you?" - spoken to Syril and also to Jyn at crucial moments - with different reactions. (I haven't rewatched Rogue One yet).

"I'm not the one you have to convince." That definitely felt different last time around.

Securing the Rogue One security breaches, by Krennic, gets a much heavier and urgent meaning now I think.

I had AA yesterday. Andor Afternoon. :p

I watched the final 3 eps and then Rogue One. Even though I wanted more seasons, it was still a really good production and the last episodes were amazing. Luthen's death was excellent. Not the fact that he died of course, we all knew that would come, but how it all went down was crazy cool. And I'm so happy Kleya made it to Yavin. I thought she may have died there from that grenade. Glad she didn't. Krennic was superb too.

Am I the only one who loved Luthen's pronunciation of the word Yavin?

As soon as he told him that planet name you just knew he'd have to kill him.

So many great lines of dialogue from the last three episodes!

"We used up all the perfect." - Luthen

"So now we're bargaining." - Luthen

    "Is everything...real?" - Dedra

"Only two pieces of questionable providence in the gallery." - Luthen

"The rebellion isn't here anymore. It's flown away. It's everywhere now." - Luthen

"There's a whole galaxy out there waiting to disgust you." - Luthen

"Has my reputation slid so precipitously?" - Krennic

"There it is. What are you still doing here?" - Krennic

"I can call up the exact language if you're curious. I see. No one is curious." K2SO

"I realize this is a question but is there a question that you are willing to answer?" K2SO

"I've been to Coruscant. I was in a parade there once. Two hundred KX units. The Emperor was there." - K2SO

"Are you with us? - Imp soldier

    "No" - K2SO

There are probably more great lines but man, great stuff!

And then when Dedra asks if the knife is real Luthen says something like, "we still don't know. The tension mounts!" Another double meaning! Indeed the tension in that scene was mounting.

Also, before Dedra pulls out the Imperial artifact she says something like, "I don't know if it'll be stunning," and then when she reveals it to Luthen he is in fact stunned because now he definitely knows that this is truly the end.

So good. Though it's "provenance," not "providence." I doubt any of the pieces in the room are from questionable heavens.

He might be referring to himself and her, as in which one, which side is going to win this war. May the force be with you.

I do like that out of all the objects in that room, he goes for the one that could be a weapon, and was in reach.

Rogue One -> Andor has been the greatest project ever undertaken by Lucasfilm. Just a work of staggering genius and importance, coming at the perfect time, crafted with utmost care and artistry. So precise in what it has to say, so clear-headed in its morality, something that is reflective of history but holding a mirror to the moment. A radicalizing force.

The passing glance from the force healer broke me. Knowing Cassian has finally found his purpose.

Couldn't have said it better, and absolute triumph! If we get anything remotely as good again, we need to be considered lucky.

I'm reading the entire first exchange as him trying to gauge how much she knows about what he knows (i.e., Death Star and Lonni) while also still leaving some room for the slim possibility that she really is just visiting for the antiques. They're both doing double entendre-laden dialogue, but Luthen's speaking a step ahead of Dedra by including her in his "provenance" joke to show he knows she probably isn't there for the antiques, and even just showing her the weapon he has as a backup plan (...which I'll note comes off an awful lot like a sacrificial dagger, for some extra meaning) while she's mostly just sticking to her own personal little theatrical experience of personally confronting Axis.

He knows what she's probably saying underneath her dialogue, but she's not picking up what he's quietly broadcasting underneath his.

And then once her cards are on the table, they both sort of talk past each other, because Dedra's consumed by her feeling of triumph in this little scene she's clearly rehearsed that would have considerably more oomph if this sequence happened mere hours earlier... while Luthen, content that she doesn't know he's already ended his mission and is wasting her own time, issues what he regards as fitting last words, lets her get distracted by the smoke from his communications table, turns away so he doesn't have to look at her, and does what needs doing.

Dedra's been setting this up as her own little coup for herself, but Luthen manages a flourish as he upstages her in everyway.

Me too. I'll be honest. Andor isn't my favorite kind or part of Star Wars*. I really like it, I just don't prefer it. Yet, it definitely has elevated the entire franchise. For that, I am grateful.

*As Star Wars continues to grow/evolve/continue....it needs to be different things...like Andor. I love when Star Wars is like a buffet. Different flavors/tones/experiences all at the same table.

Yeah when he mentioned the "two pieces" I thought he was referring to himself and Dedra. At that moment they were both pretending to be people they were not.

Also the items they produced are interesting.

She reveals a tool, a radio communication device, that the Rebellion uses in the war.
He reveals a dagger, a weapon for killing, which is what the Empire uses in the war.

Yup. That’s clearly what he was saying. The writers didn’t just accidentally write that subtext, I don’t think.
