What if we have already seen Supreme Leader Snoke early in his career?

Think what this guy would look like forty-five years later:

now that I can agree with but it still does not make the name bad in anyway, what does Dooku remind everyone of?:D The Snorks used to be one of my favorite shows !

Crazy theory: Snoke is an amalgamation of the body parts of several past Sith characters. Maul's lower legs attached to a torso of some powerful unknown darksider topped with Dooku's rotting severed head and animated by the spirit of Sidious. A Frankenstein-like abomination fueled by dark side power. :p

That's something too insane even for Star Wars, which has living planets and shapeshifting aliens and star shattering superweapons and Waru.

I dont mind Snoke. General Snoke, Admiral Snoke, Commandant Snoke, whatever Snoke have a ring to it...what I really don´t like its the Supreme Leader (more like a north korean stuff)...plus combined they don't sound right as well...

I want to see JJ et al try saying Supreme Leader Snoke in an interview and keep a straight face. Just try!

This may very well be the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Everytime something comes out, it gets the reaction "oh, well, we can get used to it". I'm just not sure how much more of that we can offer before saying enough is enough.

I'm still going to say I like the name; but I can see where people who are less enthusiastic are coming from. However, I think a lot is going to depend on context and use. Serkis character isn't just Snoke, it's Supreme Leader Snoke. I doubt anyone (particularly in this first film where his presence is supposedly minor) is going to be addressing him on a first name basis. Rather, I imagine him being referred to as simply the Supreme Leader, much like Palpatine was simply The Emperor in the OT. Kylo possibly addresses him as Master.

Beyond that, I think that so much of the impact of this character is going to come from the design and the performance, rather than just a name. When we see what he actually looks like, Snoke might just seem right for him. Plus, as others have mentioned, there's always the possibility that it's just an alias he uses for First Order business.

With all that said, I still like the name. I don't think it sounds any more outlandish than, say Tarkin, Maul, Boba or even Vader.

    "avoiding entire post"
"using forum name as if it matters to discredit said post"
"not making even a slightest attempt to defend or counter said claims"
Easy being on the internet isn't it?
If you have nothing to actually post don't post at all.

It's still very possible that "Snoke" isn't the hologram but a whole different character. Perhaps Snoke is an alien at the reigns of the First Order while the hologram alleged Sith lord is someone different that only speaks to Kylo. Or perhaps it's not even that. There's still an off chance that Supreme Leader Snoke is the leader of a planet the heroes visit and isn't even evil.

In other words, it's remotely possible that Serkis will be playing a CGI leader who is an alien but that is not the Sith leader for whom he is lending his voice. The latter could very well go un named in this movie.

supreme leader snoke is an anagram for "A spokesmen ruled ere"

This means either Palps was his spokesman "have i told you the story of Plagueis the wise...?'

or...I have nothing better to do with my time.

I wonder if Snoke will wear a mask to hide his zombie like face and only reveal it to those close to him, like Kylo, Phasma, etc. Since Kylo is a masked character, I doubt that Snoke will have one, but anything's possible.

Now you guys do realize Snoke is a real surname right?

Snoke Name Meaning: variant of English Snook.Americanized form of Dutch Snoek, a nickname meaning ‘pike’ (the carnivorous fish), or (particularly in Zeeland) from a personal name.

There are people with this name in real life:

I think Snoke must be an old Inquisitor who took control of the Empire after the Emperor died. I mean the Inquistors mostly worked with Darth Vader which makes the Empire becoming a cult of Vader group make a lot of sense. I have a feeling Kylo will take him out and become the true main villain by the end.
