With or without spoilers, I would say that both bad guys have some secret. Kylo in his potential conection to Skywalker family and Snioke to the lore of the Force.

If you google search for Alien concepts you can easily find some pretty evil looking buggers that might fit such a character - obviously stick a mental costume on him perhaps, but you get the idea.

I'm certainly champing at the bit to see what Snoke actually looks like in the movie. I remember way back that it was quoted that he will make Palps look like a 'wimp'! I want this character to be genuinely disturbing and scary. [face_devil]

Yeah, I can't wait to see what the concept team has come up with for him. He could be a great new SW villain.

Considering the trailers, he is build-up quite well... After all, he is voice of the first one, so the Luke in the second comes off as natural contrast...

You've set me off on an evil Muppet tangent now!

Snoke could have a Brian Froud look about him, maybe?

Some of these guys might fit the bill:

I am pretty sure Snoke is an Inqusitor or ex-Imperial military. As EW points out:

Obviously, those few lines from the trailer suggest that Snoke is Force sensitive. If he picks up on a disturbance, an awakening, he has ties to a power that goes far beyond military strength. All Serkis could say in his earlier interview was that his character has witnessed and participated in some harsh things during his time in the galaxy. “He’s been through some stuff,” Serkis says.

That doesn't sound like somebody who spent their entire life hiding in and manipulating from the shadows. This sounds like a guy who has been on the front-lines.

Very "interesting" update re: Serkis' characer's name.

My reaction? (Expecting to hear the name "Plagueis" in there somewhere):

    "Snoke?

    SNOKE?!....Really!?"

I'm not disappointed. Just....surprised. The name doesn't sound terribly intimidating. But his character DOES....judging by his voice in the trailer.

So he's the new "Emperor" or "Supreme Leader" of the "New Order", huh? I wonder how he managed to pull that off following the death of Palpatine, and the Empire's defeat in ROTJ? Is it possible he started off as a "good guy" but turned (very) corrupt over time? That can happen, of course. The French overthrew a King, and ended up replacing him with an Emperor. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss....etc.

Of course....the former Emperor had a dual identity, and it wasn't explicitly revealed in Episode 1 (although we obviously all knew it). Looks like we'll probably be in the same boat again here.

Gee...I wonder what Supreme Leader Snoke's Sith name could be. Hmmmm.....

He hasn't spent his life hiding, because he was already DEAD. Then someone, or something, woke him up from the dead.

Yes, I agree that being killed by your own apprentice either in the sleep or while being drunk kinda qualifies as "being trough a lot.".

Exactly, he played Ron Weasleys oldest brother. That's why I'm nicknaming him like this. But I hope we will get Gleeson's character name sometimes during the summer.

Regarding Snoke, I am now more interested than ever about him. I was initially in the Plagueis camp, but it seems now more and more that this won't play out. It would be really interesting if a concept art of Snoke would leak. Maybe we could point out who he is then.

My hope is that Snoke isn't killed by Kylo Ren during VIII. Why build up such a mystery about this character, have him only appear in 3 or 4 scenes and then kill him off in VIII? It would be much more interesting (at least for me), if he continues through the ST and has a final confrontation with Luke. The Uber of the good guys vs. the Uber of the bad guys.

Exactly. Part of it is becouse whoever Kylo Ren is, as of now he doesn´t come across as either Vader or Maul. He isn´t intimidating and according to spoilers he is essentially some sith fanboy. He migh gain strength obviously, but current strategy seems to making him more Dark Side mascot than brain of the plot.

Vader is a cool name for a villain Snoke is not. Okay.
We had these very same arguments when people who totally accepted names like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ben Skywalker (Legends , I know), Wilhuff Tarkin and Lando Calrissian couldn't stomach Poe Dameron.
The Nostalgia fan should remove his rose tinted glasses for a few minutes.

BTW, we shouldn´t forgot that simple reason why this name sounds kinda lame is really for that it might be alias,or that he´ll get more interesting identity in the proccess and nobody will call him Snoke ever again.

Nothing against those who like it, but do people honestly think that will be the ultimate name of the big, bad villain in the new trilogy? I am sure the character will be great, threatening, powerful, and horribly evil. And I also don't think that you're going to hear any character truly refer to him as Snoke. Maybe "Supreme Leader" until we get the full name or Sith name, but certainly not Snoke. I am very surprised at how many people are taking that name seriously.

'Supreme Leader' implies this figure might have been the power behind the Sidious's throne.

I think what would be a nice contrast to Palps in the OT (who was always plotting and meticulous) is if this guy is just a total psychopath like Ramsay Bolton.
