If Snoke does turn out to be Plagueis, and I no longer think that's the case, and he did learn to cheat death, maybe it came at a cost: his own powers. That's why he needs Kylo and the Knights. Once he's done with them, he'll use them to regain strength.

It is a very common literary device for an apprentice to believe his master has taught him everything he knows. The result is commonly that it is discovered later that the master had withheld, purposely, and that which was withheld allows the master to triumph over or surpass the apprentice. It is also common for the master to return from the apprentices thought that he/she had been killed.

Is this a stealth "Snoke is Darth Plagueis" post?

But seriously. You'd think Palpatine would check to see if Plagueis actually had taught him how to save people from death before killing him. Palpatine would come across as a bit of a fool, otherwise.

Orochi Oni you've been here plenty long enough to know the rule against stacking your posts like you did above.

Actually, I didn't know about that rule. Only a Sith deals in absolutes, my friend.

Well, consider yourself informed. The rule is to either edit your posts together into one when responding to several posts at once, or wait until someone else posts before posting again.

It's not a stealth anything, just and answering your question post....

As for your second question here, yes, that's usually the way it goes.....

I'm reading Thrawn and tease with Unknown Regions continues. Though so far, we've learned nothing special. Thrawn warns of some great evil, but his culture is generic alien warrior culture (cue Sun Tzu and Machiavelli rolled in one as usual) and their enemies are generic nomadic pirates. So UR has - shocker - generic alien warrior cultures and pirates just like GFFA. Not enough for "great evil" which supposedly none of those generic things is but that begs a question - what if "great evil" is...generic? Snoke surely is generic af right now so maybe that's a proof that he's indeed the "great evil" from Unknown Regions? ;)

I think Snoke is Plaguis essentially.

In the sense that Plaguis himself was a character in a story about a REAL person. SO he might not be called Plaguis but he is essentially that person from the tale.

It is amazing that people still cling to the Plagueis theory.

The irony in Palpatine's tale is that he could create life and save *others* from death, but not himself. If he is not truly dead, then there is no irony. Literally the only mention of him in any of the films is a story about how he is as dead as a doornail.

As to Snoke, there is absolutely nothing in the film to suggest that he's Plagueis. And there have been multiple statements by people involved with the film that directly contradict any notion that he's Plagueis.

Snoke is a new character. What I'm interested in is whether we get a convincing and compelling backstory. I hope there's a little more to his motivation than ruling everyone/being generally evil for kicks.

I believe Snoke could be based on the Legends character Darth Krayt.

There's enough wiggle room for fans of the Plagueis theory to still hang on to. The irony wouldn't be lost if Plagueis survived, it could heighten the sense of irony to the opera scene from episode 3. I take them at their word when they say Plagueis is not Snoke and some of the stuff from Empire's End seems to point in a different direction as to Snoke's backstory.

For me Snoke is Plagueis. Palps thought he killed him - but recovering from being dead might take some time. The result is Snoke. We should ask Snoke on twitter to confirm.

In your opinion, how does the undying process compare to the dying, turning into a force ghost, and then unghosting in order to be reincarnated process? Longer? Shorter? About the same?

Well I guess Palps did a great job in killing Plagueis so I guess it was rather a quick one.
For the undying I suggest you watch The Mummy.
