I can get into the details on why Blue Gender sucks if you want.

::bops Trell with her fan:: Blue Gender doesn't suck, damnit.

Ah that's it. That sucks. When I moved I started to get urges to watch many shows I hadn't watched in a long time. It always comes when you are denied access.

Even if I could get to the closet, I still couldn't watch it. I taped the boxes closed. >.< I could really kick myself in the ass right now.

They did rather look like Vagina's of Doom. I would not of noticed this if not for Adult Swims commercial where some perv noticed it though...

They look stranger in the movie. Well, I thought they did anyway. I can't remember who created Blue Gender, but whomever has to be a serious perv. Yep. ::nods::

I thought Blue Gender was decent. It wasn't original or greatly animated, but I liked the English dub acting and the music. The ending was a bit of a peter-out to me kinda like the ending of RahXephon or the TV ending of Evangelion.

Ah, but Eva's TV ending wasn't a peter-out. It was just misunderstood.

EDIT: For that matter, I liked the ending of RahXephon as well.

Perhaps Eva's TV ending wasn't a "peter-out". I had no difficulty understanding it, it was just lacking crucial things in order for there to be a true completion of the series.

If anything EVA's ending was more a hurried mishmosh, which is understandable considering the events surrounding that period of the show.

As for RahXephon, I though it's ending fit with the serie s both in tone and in the story arc.

Personally, I like it when you have an anime with the occasional happy ending. I consider RahXephon to be one such ending.

Eva's was just as happy as Rah's, IMO. One of the reasons that I like them both.

    speaking of endings....

here's a little poll for you all. in your opinion, what series has the happiest ending? and in turn, which has the saddest ending?

    Hmmm, let me think.

Happiest ending? I have to say Scrapped Princess probably has the happiest ending overall. Everyone for the most part got what they wanted and lived happily ever after it seemed.

The saddest? That is tougher since so many endings seem mixed more than anything.

The one that comes to mind is cowboy bebop though. The stupidity of Spike's actions at the end, how he was doing something he knew would get him killed and went anyway plus the crew breaking up made it very sad. Especially when you compare it to the earlier episodes which seemed much, much lighter.

Well 2004 is almost over and that means an end of the year review. What does this mean? This user will select his 3, 5 or 10, depending on the number of choices, favourite anime of the year.
In four 2004 time related categories being:
Best 2003-2004 anime; shows that started in 2003 and ended somewhere in 2004.

Best 2004 anime; shows that both started and ended in 2004.

Best 2004-2005 anime; this is a no brainer, shows that started this year and is currently ongoing

Best overall 2004 anime; this list is a mere combination of the latter two.

Furthermore "didn't make the list" are shows that I could have picked, either from the total number of shows or simply my favourites, but eventually didn't make it. For various reasons.

Creating a list was hard a thing to do, with the number of shows that started this year, which is quite compared to previous or so I'm told.
Interesting to note I've only finished around one third of all shows that I've started this year.
All the other shows are either still ongoing in Japan, ongoing with the fansubbers (yet finished in Japan), lost interest and of course the show got licensed.

Oh well enough talking, here's the list:

Top 3 2003-2004 8 titles to chose from
    1. Full Metal Alchemist
    2. Planetes
    3. Sakigake!! Cromartie High

    Didn't make the list:
The Galaxy Railways, Tantei Gakuen Q, Battle Programmer SHIRASE, R.O.D -THE TV-, Chrno Crusade

Top 10 2004 58 titles to chose from
    1. Maria-sama Ga Miteru/Haru
    2. Otogizoushi
    3. Genshiken
    4. Paranoia Agent
    5. Elfen Lied
    6. Koi Kaze
    7. Melody of Oblivion
    8. Soukyuu No Fafner
    9. 2x2 = Shinobuden
    10 Tsukuyomi - Moon Phase -

    Didn't make the list:
Hi no tori, Rozen Maiden, Samurai 7, Galaxy Angel 4, Gokusen, Yuugo, Area 88 TV, Akane Maniax, Kono Minikuku Mo Utsukushii Sekai

Top 5 2004-2005 23 titles to chose from
    1. Monster
    2. Yakitate!! Japan
    3. Gankutsuou
    4. Zipang
    5. Gakuen Alice

    Didn't make the list:
Bleach, Black Jack TV, Mai HiME, School Rumble

Overall 81 titles to chose from
    1. Monster
    2. Maria-sama Ga Miteru/Haru
    3. Yakitate!! Japan
    4. Gankutsuou
    5. Otogizoushi
    6. Genshiken
    7. Paranoia Agent
    8. Zipang
    9. Gakuen Alice
    10. Tsukuyomi - Moon Phase -

That was it, out of laziness, I decided not to add comments out of sheer of laziness and the fact I'm poor on explaning why a show is good or bad for that matter :p

I of course encourage other people making similar lists, if you have comments fire them away I'm open for comments, flames or what not :)

I haven't seen enough stuff from this year to have an opinion. The stuff I watched from this year was Macross Zero, Samurai Champloo, and Gundam SEED Destiny.

And all three of those shows rock so... :p

i'm w/ tenbits. i don't watch enough new anime. i have too much already released stuff i want to watch to try to keep up w/ everything out/coming out now. the most recent stuff that i've seen and liked a lot were: pretty guardian sailor moon (not anime, but close enough) and midori no hibi.

as for my poll, happiest ending: lain. saddest ending: escaflowne.

    edit: happy new year ^^

Wow, you're choices seem rather odd to me Iwakura. I'd call Lain bittersweet at best. I can understand why you'd say happy though.

But Escaflowne? Wouldn't that be a rather happy ending? I got the general impression from the ending that Hitomi could now travel to and fro at her own free will.

    My list of stuff:

    Happy:

    R.O.D the TV
    Evangelion
    Stellvia of the Universe
    FLCL
    Escaflowne
    Gasaraki
    Gundam Seed
    Gundam F-91
    Gundam 08th MS Team
    RahXephon
    Scrapped Princess
    Planetes
    Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
And the obligatory stuff I can't remember.

I'm fairly indecisive for stuff like this, hence I just rattled off a bunch that came to mind.

    Saddest:

    Chrono Crusade
    This Ugly and Beautiful World
    Gundam 0080
And again, the obligatory stuff I can't remember.

I tend to blank out/forget/not watch much sad stuff, hence the lack of that.

    well...lain has made things right, so she's happy..therefore i'm happy. :)

escaflowne is just really sad to me. they go 26 episodes w/o realizing/being able to express their feelings for eachother and in the end she hugs him and takes off. that's sad to me. hitomi can't go back: she gave van the pendant and he also still has escaflowne's energist. van could go to earth if he wanted to badly enough, but she can't go to gaia. it's also sad to me because i project myself onto hitomi...and i, personally, would not have left. i'd stay on gaia and just visit the mystic moon. ;)

edit: i just wanted people to pick one each of saddest and happiest trell :p as in the saddest and the happiest.

I remember some half throw away line where she said she could return and such... And I think it makes sense for her to go home to at least finish up school and make proper goodbyes. Makes more sense to me than just leaving her entire life.

Also, I've come to expect it in anime when two people only realize their love in the last third of the last episode of the show. :p

    Edit:

    :p

Happiest most likelly Evangelion. (My favorite show, common.) Saddest most likelly Chrono Crusade. (The highest percentage of main characters die in it.) If I must pick that is. :p

at the end, what was said by hitomi was that she'd never forget him "even when" she's "old" (or an old lady..depending on whether you watched subbed or dubbed) and van told her that they could see eachother anytime they wanted, that they'd just have to think of one another, however, that's not really true. hitomi's ticket to gaia was the pendant, which she no longer possesses. the pendant is what made her wishes come true, so she can't shape events anymore...which leaves her stranded on earth, unless van goes to earth and takes her back w/ him.

Happiest most likelly Evangelion. Saddest most likelly Chrono Crusade. If I must pick that is.

that's better, thank you for complying. ;)

Um.... hrm.... Haven't watched it in some time. :(

    Lalalallalalal, no listening. :(

Eh, I gather once some rebuilding is done and she's had enough time to finish school and such he'll go back. If not, he is the single most pitiful and idiotic human out there.

Van letting her go was one of the stupidest moves he could ever make. If I were him I would have done everything I could to prevent that, or gone after her.
