hey darth_solo, glad you came back. i use netflix to check out anime, since i definitely concur, it's too much money to shell out ($20-$30) just to check something out. i mean, what if you don't like it? bleh.

if you can't subscribe to netflix try your local video store. i haven't been in one in ages, but i assume their anime selection has to be at least slightly better since anime has become more popular since i've been to a rental store.

if you've got a broadband connection, you could also consider downloading anime from places like: animesuki.com, baka-updates.com, or downloadanime.org. (you have to have a bit torrent client for this).

anyhow, i hope one of these options works out for you. ^_^

Does bit torrent install spyware in your computer?

Because I have had problems with Kazzaa (another P2P filesharing thing) which destroyed my last computer..

    BitTornado is great.

For actual BT DL's, head over to Animesuki, Suprnova.org, or BoxTorrents when it comes back.

Oh, Big-O isn't thought provoking, it's just stupid. :p If you are really interested in thought provoking anime, I suggest Evangelion, Lain, or the like.

I do so love how you just point to me and Straka.

Well, I did say I was joking. Wait. I better shut up before I dig my grave any deeper.

well, it is less than a month away at least. texhnolyze 3 doesn't come out 'til late august, and then 4 isn't out 'til october.

I saw the dvd information about dvd 12 last night. I swear. The wait is getting harder and harder. Plus, it's not really like Saiyuki's ending. Reload will start being released sometime next year. Then, in 2006 Gunlock will start being released over here. Hehe...

And I'll take that monacle wearing guy any day of the week. Plus, I have nine of the eleven posters that come with the dvds on my walls. Yep. So, now, I have that monacle wearing guy looking at me all day long... :p

Oh.... I just saw the cover for dvd 12. Now, I know I can't wait.... http://www.rightstuf.com/images/large_images/dsy012.jpg

It's really a shame that we never know exactly what happened 500 years ago. There are some theories about it, and I have one. But, yeah. The cover looks really nice. Though, I was kinda hoping that it would have Nataku on the cover and the young Goku as a poster. It would fit really well with the Konzen, Tenpou, and Kenren posters.

as i am sitting here listening to the cyberia mix, i decided i had to have the lain bootleg cd (not the $150 import version, i'm not that crazy) w/ 45 tracks of background music on it (very short tracks, but it's some of my favorite stuff). i find myself impulse-buying so much. [face_plain]

    impulse-purchases over the last month:

    -texhnolyze ost 1
    -texhnolyze volume 1 w/ artbox
    -texhnolyze volume 2
-nieA_7 manga volume 1 (which, might i add, i won't even be able to read)
    -and now lain bootleg

this is not counting the dvd burner i purchased last week.

any of you flip out on the internet and buy more than you should? if so, do you ever succeed at stopping yourself?

Oh yeah do I ever do that. Whenever I make a book order, I start to add a few extra, thinking a few more won't hurt. I went from buying 50 books once, to about 80 something.

I do the same with anime, but I'm normally able to restrain myself. Accept recently, with this limited edition box set craze. I was just supposed to go after the Eva, and RahXephon ones. I also ended up getting the R.O.D the TV one (In all likelly hood, the best one of them) the Stellvia one, and the Gundam Seed one. Heck, the Stellvia one isn't even available untill September.

What is everyone's FAVORITE anime series here?

I have only a couple that I really watch, so it's hard to narrow it down to just one..

Inuyasha is good, but so is Crest of the Stars. I haven't seen that many shows, so I don't have a huge variety to pick from like others would...I used to watch G-Force/Battle of the Planets everyday, but that was ten years ago when I was only 8 and even though it was good, the only episode I taped got TAPED OVER! Ah that is annoying.

I will say Inuyasha then...but that could change.

    Neon Genesis Evangelion also.

Many many other nods I'm to tired to give.

Anyone in here saw Lum? A TV network is broadcasting it here and, although it's a little old, it's a very funny show.

Its not called Lum, the official name is Urusei Yatsura. Its the first harem genre anime and it was quite popular too in Japan. There are lots of culture references to Urusei Yatsura.

Of course its quite the opposite in the US, not much of a whisper about it.

I feel like I've answered this question before, but whatever.

My absolute favorite anime is anything Saiyuki. Then, my second absolute favorite is Berserk.

What is everyone's FAVORITE anime series here?

Rurouni Kenshin, which I recently got from start to finish on DVD, previously having seen it only in fansub form.

I picked up pretty cheaply the first 130 or so episodes of InuYasha on Hong Kong DVDs with so/so English subtitles. Hong Kong is your friend.

Who the hell cares? Xie is back.

And I never DLed the first one. BoxTorrents must live. :(

Edit: Just listened to the R.O.D the TV commentary thing, and it seems Geneon likes to use people that are the same age as their characters. So, what will this mean for the Stellvia dub? Can they actually find that many 14-17 year olds who can voice act well?

Edit II: Looks like while BoxTorrents will be back, all ADV stuff is gone. Well, it's still something. After taking a look at ADV's site though, it's a bit worse for me personally than I first thought.

    -P!-
