Hey, my friend was telling me all about Anne Rice and her vampire stories. She had just written a short story for her creative writing class, and her teacher told her she was the next Anne Rice. She was really estatic about it, and I didn't know who Anne Rice was until she told me.

Anne Rice USED to be one of the best vampire/horror/gothic writers ever.

But with the inconsistency of her last two books, not to mention the fact that the series ended with us only knowing about ONE old character... err... I'm not too sure.

I tried to read Anne Rice. I read two books, one of which was the Maysomething Witches. Good grief, the second chapter dragged on for so long. It was pathetic and boring - and I never touched her books again. I really liked Interview with the Vampire, though, at least the first half of it. It got a little gory in certain places, but it was generally good.

But my all-time favorite vampire book is Dracula by Bram Stoker. He's also one of my favorite authors. [face_love]

Aunecah, to me her Vampire stories are top-notch, till you get to Memnoch the Devil, which to this day I haven't read. Along with The Vampire Armand and Blood and Gold.

I think one of the problems is she's refusing to use an editor now. She there are parts she just rambles on.

Now I will say this I enjoyed Merrick and Blackwood Farm immensely. Blood Canticle, left me feeling hollow, if it is truely the last of her Vampires and Witches.

Merrick I liked, until I adopted my Louis/Lestat fetish. Then, I kinda didn't like Merrick (she's cool... but not cool to make Louis love her).

I say, read the first three books as a series, and the fourth as some wierd fanfiction (LoL... cuz it cracked me up from beginning to end) and end it there.

Hi, I just finished reading Interview with Vampire. I read the Mayfair Witches first, so seeing New Orleans from Louis's perspective was interesting because I kept seeing Rowan's home in my head. I thought the book was pretty good, but the ending bothered me just a little. I mean, I was so expecting Louis to bite the reporter in the end, I was a little disappointed when he did. Still it was a good read. Going to start with Lestat today. Is this one comparable?
