Announcing: The TFN Jedi Outcast Server

Well, you non-US-ians can get it on Friday, and we won't have a JA server by then.

And what about people who don't *have* JA? I mean come on, TFN's one of the best servers on the web, what are we sposed to do now?!?

Buy JA? Same system requirements and stuff, and more fun things! I've been playing siege for the last hour on Hoth, and powerdueling before that.

The TFN JO server is pretty good, but after its initial release, it never was very crowded or anything. And there's several others around its caliber, like the ones Sithy was always playing on.

 

Well...hoenstly the reason I liked it was there was no one else on. It was usually just me, a couple friends, and maybe one or two strangers. That's the way I like to play MP, not with a bunch of weirdo cranks.

So you're saying we're gona have our JO server back by friday?

And some people don't buy JA because maybe they can't afford it? Like me? Also, just cause a new game comes out means I don't like the old one. I still play Dark Forces for crying out loud! So please give us back our JO server.

 

We're trading the JO server for a JA server. This makes sense because of TFN Mods that will be developed. I don't have JA yet and I won't for a while because I can't afford it either.

TFN mods are being developed for JA...a game that came out a couple days ago? Well, that's peachy, and when the mods are done, you can switch, I spose. But I don't see what the point is now, when no one has even had a chance to buy the thing.

I tried to join the JO server.. and I can't join because...

"Server used Protocol version 25?"

What to do?

EDIT: And the maps I have work... but if I download one, and try to isntall it.. it never works. How do I install the map into the game?

BTW, there's a Duality Sith Temple map I found.

 

You would get that message because you don't have the right version of the game, so search for Jedi Outcast 1.04 patch and download and install it. As for custom maps, you should put them in your gamedata/base directory.

Will this also help the bug that the sabers are visible on 800x600 rez, but not 1600x1200 rez? I'd prefer higher rez, but currently use 800x600 because of the stupid bug.

EDIT: I just installed patch 1.04, and I have the same protocol 25 problem.

 

Oh, and the maps from pcgamemods.com on the JO server info page.... I can't get those maps from there... only the ones from JKII.net.

 

Hmm, maybe the TF.N server has been switched to JA already?

Good News.... Ja just came out with a patch and one of the fixes deals with MP crashing when too many people join. That might fix the problems we've been having.

 

Hey, um...your server doesn't seem to be working...but then, I have yet to be able to successfully join a JA server, so it may be me.

Give them the IP and the username theforce and they should be able to restart it. Be sure to ask for a Jolt Admin though.
