He should have been more like in the novelisation - eg he kills the Nemoidian captain of the Invis. Hand out of anger, and he should have actually grabbed Gunray when Nute got angry at him.
That and he should have had a longer fight with his 4 sabers with Obi-Wan - to make his threat level more plausible.

Not just hang longer with Obi Wan but show him killing some respectably skilled Jedi first. Like Luminara or SHaak Ti. It would have given them a reason to appear for more than half a second at best anyway.

I was impressed with him, but he needed more time and needed to at least kill one jedi.

I was seriously unimpressed with GG. I mean I thought he looked great, very menacing. But then you hear his cough and it all goes downhill. I think I said this somewhere before but I honestly don't understand how a robot can have emphysema! Just doesn't make sense to me.

I thought GG looked too cartooney to be taken seriously. And the cough didn't help either.

apparently Mace did something to his chest in the clone wars cartoon to cause his cough.

I think it's lame personally. I've never seen this happen and isn't the clone wars series considered EU anyway?

Besides who says that cough can't be treated?

His whole organic organs inside a machine thing is silly. I mean it's as if he started out a life form who got damaged, and then had this crazy idea that building his organs into some super machine body would make him this amazing warrior or something.

All the changes he goes through reminds me of Michael Jackson. Just doesn't know when to stop until it's too late and way off the deep end.

I liked Grievous. When you read the Episode III scroll about Grievous, then the film begins with Obi-Wan and Anakin talking about "there's Grievous' ship" and there was this big attempt to rescue Palpatine from Grievous, it made it sound like the Republic/Jedi have run into Grievous before, on several different planets and battles, and Grievous was always winning, and collected a few jedi trophies. The coughing was a sign that he had his fair share of jedi attacks. At least that's what I got from his presence on screen. If you look at the films without the animated Clone Wars, that is.

One item that has been expressed before that I agree with: two characters that would have benefited from intros in previous films were Dooku and Grievous. Show Dooku in TPM as a jedi/diplomat and Grievous leading droid armies/taking out a jedi on geonosis. Then having them show up in the next chapters would have been cool to see....to develop their involvement in the plot more.

Are you suggesting that Grievous hosts the Younglings at Utapau Ranch?

    Wait...

Hunched back = the result of doing far too many moonwalks?

Eh...I thought the coughing was cute, actually. Made me wanna stick him in bed, throw the covers over 'em and threaten to smash his brains out with a crowbar if he tried to sneak off. Heh.

No really, the coughing was a good effect, it gave him a touch of personality that would have otherwise been lost. It fit right in with the arrogance and the swaggering gait.

well the coughing was kinda of retarded but he must of been a big smoker probly has that lung cancer, and when I saw the buzz saw move that Grivous laid out i was sweet this is going to be tight but Obi-Wan kinda made short work of his duel, I think we should of saw him taking out a whole bunch of Clone Troopers before fighting Obi-Wan.

    I can see it now...

    Greivous:BD2845!
    Battle Droid:Sir?
    Grievous:Bring me a cigar!
    Battle Droid:Yes sir!

First time i saw the movie, i didn't know what to make of grievous's cough and hunchback chicken-walk and all that, but i dug his fight with Obi on Utapau. Now having seen the movie 3 times, i really like grievous, he looks great in most scenes, i am used to his cough and voice, and he commands my attention when he's onscreen.

I just wish they'd show something in the movie to establish him as being a strong commander or ruthless or something, like taking that back-talking battledroid "you're welcome" and ripping him in half. Not that it would fit the scene, but i hated that battledroid, and anyway, if they showed him crushing one of his men (much less a jedi), it would have made me like him that much more.

But i was and am impressed with the general. Great character imo.

if you are not impressed with count dooooooooooooookuuuuuuuuu's saber student, you can see him training and taking out jedi on the last few episodes of the Clone Wars. If you have not seen it, you can for free at the official site. Search for "Clone Wars" and links to chapters 21-25 should be available (or all 25 if you're a hyper member)

I loved Grievous, as did everyone else I've seen ROTS with.

He plays up this ruthless act but in the end is a total coward. Was perfect for action and comic relief.
Much, much cooler than I expected.

I was somewhat disappointed with Grievous. He was built up too much in Clone Wars, as were the Jedi.

I think he was ok. I think people had higher expectations for Grievous than I did.
I think they made him cough etc just to add some human
characteristics b/c he was flesh and machine.
He did some neat tricks tho. If he had of been too
larger than life and formidable than it wouldn't have
been very believeable when Obi-Wan beat him.

Just as a side note.. the senior sound editor for
ROTS is the one who ended up doing G's voice.
They tried several methods/people and nothing was
working for them so the sound guy tried it himself
with some digital editing etc and GL liked it so
he became the voice of General G.

I don't know which design came first but I couldn't ignore this when I saw it on SOUTHPARK last nite. This machine that looks like General Grevous' wheel vehicle was invented by Mr.Garrison. Mr.Garrison is Gay and to operate this machine there are some strange controls. Instead of a seat there is a pole, that for some reason, must be inserted into your anus. Then, you must place your mouth on the steering pole and suck on it while shifting two sticks up and down. I am not lying. I nearly died when I saw this.

I was extremely unimpressed with Grievous. Especially his introduction. And I usually unquestionably love JW scores...but when he makes his entrance into that control room on his ship or whatever it is, and that score follows him -- duh DUH duh duh DUH, and so on...it's just indescribably cheesy.
