She has ever been suspicious of Palpatine. Watch her expression in TPM when Palpatine announces his bid to be the next Chancellor. You can almost see the daggers of distrust conveyed from her eyes.

The delated scenes of episode III kinda of say otherwise.

Yeah...kinda. In one, she talks about the Chancellor being one of her oldest advisors. Yet, she's being included in the Delegation of 2000 to stop the subversion of the constitution by the Chancellor. And in the last scene, she's the one that questions the sincerity of Chancellor. It's vague.

To answer the question initially posed, YES. This isn't really a bad thing, I rather more "war" and less "political maneuvering" in the stories. Yes, the politics play an important role in the war, but I'm a sucker for combat scenes, shoot first, ask questions later!

Well, "The Clone Wars" is an action series. Politics should never be excluded, but even what we see take place with politicians on Coruscant does involve a considerable deal of action. It's not all that realistic, but hey, this is "Star Wars". Let the major political quarrels of the films reflect our lives, but at the end of the day most of us just want to see the duel at the end of the movie. This series quenches that thirst.

Also, she tells Anakin in AOTC: "I wasn't the youngest Queen ever elected but now that I look back on it...I'm not sure I was old enough, I'm not sure I was ready."

I believe it is save to assume that Padmè knows that she made mistakes as in her term as Queen. IMO we can assume that she sees her Vote of No Confidence in Valorum as a mistake; she looks so regretful the moment after she has made annoucement and her expression in TPM when Palpatine announces his bid to be the next Chancellor. You can almost see the daggers of distrust conveyed from her eyes.

She might have kept a colser eye on him after that...at least until she married & got distracted. I believe Padmè'sline in ROTS shows not only that she needed to believe in the man she put into power but, also the effect her secret marriage had on her. Anakin became Palpy's tool against Padmè just as much as she became his.

Very perceptive Lady_Skywalker87! Additionally, the only two people that know of Anakin's killing of the Tusken raiders are Padme and Palpatine (that I know of). One must wonder if, at some point, Padme and Palpatine discover that they share this secret knowledge about Anakin; and if Palpatine uses it as leverage against Padme.

I've never thought of that! You know it wouldn't be if surprised at all if at some point Palpatine used the knowledge of Tusken massacre agaist Padmè; after all, he does know her well enough to know how to manipulate her as shown in the PT. It would also give a more solid reason as to why the assassination attemps stoped rather than having her go on futile missions ALL the time in the hopes that she dies but keep her under his foot in a way. His knowledge of the Secret marriage could play a part in this as well...Its just a matter of good wrtting, which sadly, TCW lacks.

Also, Yoda more or less knows about the Tusken massacre but not from Anakin's mouth (hence his advice to him in ROTS)witch make me wonder if he ever questioned Anakin or even Padmè about what he felt in AOTC.

This what I hoped to see in TCW, Padmè effected by her circumstaces...NOT adum blond that dyed her hair!:p

Nah, I don't see that happening. Putting pressure against Padme in some evil kind of blackmail would make Palpatine look bad in Anakin's eyes. I'm sure he's aware of their secret relationship, in fact it could be argued he even more or less orchestrated the situation in which they fell in love. He's being too much of a wise old trusted uncle to Anakin to move against Padme in such a way.

    ^

If it came to blackmailing who said Anakin would find out? Palpatine and Padmè are politicians after all so they would know how to keep it from him; they both have motives for not wanting to make him suspicious of such a thing... I was thinking something along the lines of the subtle manipulative tactis Palpatine used with Padmè in the PT.

Exacly! I think it would make an interesting story line & put Padmè's character back on track in many ways.

For me, it's mostly her voice, as has been said. I can handle her not sounding like Natalie Portman, but how about not sounding like she's twelve years old? I can hardly take anything she says seriously because I'm waiting for her to say "Oh and then I wanna go shopping cos I need a new outfit!" Which brings me to the fact that I've only seen her in about found different outfits in the entire series. She has so many outfits in each movie, but suddenly she's down to like four. I understand it's a huge cost to animate an outfit, but at least give her some unique new ones, not just the ones she wore in the films! /shallow-ness

I also agree with a lot of the more relevant arguments posted above.

The biggest problem I have with her voice in the show is that she puts too much emphasis on her "t"s and not enough on her "s"s. It's kind of annoying.

Yeah, I liked Grey Diesel's Padme better. I'm kinda hoping they get her back to voice Shaak Ti, but I doubt they will.

I actually didn't like the voice of Shaak Ti in the microseries. I hope they get the actress from The Force Unleashed. She gives her more of a mature voice.

Three that I know of off the top of my head: Senate Spy, Senate Murders, and Zillo Beast Strikes Back.

The problem is Padme's setting, her environment. The Senate and her penthouse apartment don't really make for that many opportunities of galactic warfare action scenes. Thus the invariable Padme-trip-across-galaxy leading to Padme-captured-by-evildoers scenario. The female action star is already filled by Ahsoka, so that kinda reduces Padme's role.

Well admittedly it does look out of place having her run around in combat zones & such. Her role was preyyt small in RotS anyway. But still, she'll have to make appearances with Anakin at least.

I know! the "new" one she was given just seems wrong...she looks like a common Gungan instead of something she would actually wear...

Me too! Grey DeLisle had a more regal quality to her performance.

That's not excuse. Look at her CW cartoon...:(

While I love Padme in the PT, in fact she is pretty much my favorite character in the movies, I do not like the way they've handled her in the series. The model and voice are completely wrong, and having the same plot structure to all her episodes is getting a little tiring.

In fact, they might even consider writing her out of the show. They have Ahsoka for action. They have Satine for the Senate, and she is arguably a more interesting character than Padme. As I said before, I'm not saying I do not like Padme at all, just in the series.

I think the worst Padme moment for me was in Senate Spy when Padme comes down the stairs in that goofy dress with the random curl in her hair with the creepy smile on her face. The terrible music playing didn't help much, either.
